I am not making this political, just trying to make the point and couldn't resist adding the key, the ultimate core of the issue... "To honor ones own freedom is, in essence, to honor the freedom of all others." - Dwight Eisenhower Mere acceptance of those who are not like you... those with different beliefs, those with different lifestyles, those who "aren't like us"... is not enough. The key answer is to take it too the next level and actually "honor the freedom" of th

I understand how AI actually works as well, which is another reason that I am against driverless cars. More importantly, there is currently nowhere on internet where free speech exists. The internet is the primary place where speech occurs in the 21st century, the proverbial soapbox of the 21st century. The "1st amendment only guarantees government shall pass no law" excuse doesn't work, because it is the primary place where speech takes place today. It is the modern

We have standards that have been set up by our society. "Family Friendly & PG-13" and "even the Nazi's can march in Skokie, IL". What the internet has become is EVERY forum has a little Heinrich Himmler "Chicken Farmer" who decides who can speak and what they can say. That's the German Reich & Soviet Union, not America. The level of surveillance and tracking is also just plain dangerous. Ask yourself this question... Why, after the Las Vegas shooting, d

It's much worse than most realize because it has slowly crept up on you. Where on internet do you truly have freedom of speech if you want to say something even the least bit controversial? The excuse is "the constitution only guarantees you that the government shall pass no law". But when the result is that there is no place on the internet where there are not people who decide what you can say and how you can say it, then the internet is breaking the spirit of the first am

Since the 1960's all major infrastructure telephone company's are required to maintain a presence in an underground bunker call "Pentagon City" which is near the Pentagon but not a part of it. This is the center of a post-nuclear war communications system. The famous "Long Lines Building" in NYC is the NYC location for this network, most major cities have a nuclear proof communications facility that is a part of the Pentagon City network. Due too this, the federal government

...and the down side. Absolutely everything you did was recorded, including where you were by GPS location as you did it. You are fed what other people want you to see through your phone. If the wrong people have the power to do it, and take an interest in you... you are doomed because of the way that technology currently works. And that "Tesla on Auto-Pilot' means that they could literally assassinate you with your car... assuming the wrong people were in control of i

I've realized another good example here. "First Ones". I use it in many different ways in my own story. I've been playing Path of Exile again, it changes so much after a year away it is almost a new game going back too it, and they use it too. "First Ones" is far too general for JMS or Warner Brothers to lay claim too. Often something like this is "protected" by the fans, who would roll their eyes and think "you stole that from B5", but not always. "First O

Funny... I never planned on expanding any of my games other than Mission. The idea had always been that you make it, it is what it is, and you move on too the next game instead of expanding the previous one. You could, of course, expand any game the audience was asking too be expanded. It seems like my model fits into the new world very, very well! :-)

I think Romulan also belongs to Paramount. The idea is that if you create a new word you can own it, but there is more too it than that. The lawyers get involved with usage and prominence, etc. Romulan is derived from Rome and Romulus & Remus. The Romulan homeworlds are even called Romulus and Remus. Phaser is derived from Laser and "Phased"... Phased-Laser = Phaser. When you make up words, and define them and use them in certain ways they can become yo

I don't want to get political again, but Paul & Fred are just behaving in the way that the current generation has been "raised" to do things. That is just the state of this country today, not Paul & Fred. That will die off soon if you don't allow the universities to raise a second generation in a row like them. They are weapons, not people, weapons I could use to completely destroy the computer game industry all by myself. That's how powerful they are. St

Yes... I was thinking that wasn't actually too political. It's a military thing, and just explaining something about DJT that a lot of people don't seem to understand. I am not a big supporter or hater in DJT's case, so I am not making a statement either way on him. Just explaining why he sometimes appears to go over the top... it's a very old and well known tactic that he was known to use extensively long before he became president. And, like any soldier can confirm f

I'll even add myself too the deal, haha, I will make a Charles S Roberts/Stephen V Cole inspired strategy wargame in space for Stardock that will blow the minds of the gaming world... leaving just Paul & Fred to do their half in bringing the Star Control franchise raging back to the forefront of the gaming world and giving myself an actual target for my own PDU to then shoot down, haha! Also notice that this is kind of like Star Trek today, split between Paramount & CBS... but also not in many ways. P&F ARE the original creators of the Star Control story/universe so them taking command of the "Prime" line is correct, unlike current Star Trek where Gene Roddenberry would need to be alive to do that. Stardock would be running free with their own re-boot, but this isn't Star Trek. Nobody is out their being a stickler for them to stick too the "Prime" s

Hmmm.... "Star Control Prime" and "Star Control Origins"... I actually like that a lot! How about Paul & Fred & Brad? Paul & Fred... you get to be the "Prime" Star Control, because that is what you are. Brad & Stardock... you get the gaming media acknowledging your "grace" in giving P&F the "Prime" title while you go with your own "New Origins" universe of Star Control. The original story and probably more traditional, and more simple, gamepla

Paul & Fred should not allow it to go to court. They should reach an agreement where Stardock owns the Star Control name they bought and P&F are free to continue and complete their own story through as many games as they want to do that... maybe under the title "Ghosts of the Precursors". Maybe Stardock would be willing to license them back the "Star Control" name under certain conditions, and P&F could complete their story under a title like "Star Control Prime: Ghost

[quote who="GMOrz" reply="112" id="3740140"] There obviously has to exist some middle ground, though. You would, surely, be upset if I started selling copies of Galactic Civilizations, but you'd also be upset if I did an open-source remake called Galactic Civility that was exactly identical except for using slightly different races (Terran Alliance, Yer, Drengi, Alteran, Droth, etc.) No one is claiming you can copyright "the color red" or "the concept of hyperspace".
