A Bygone Era

You probably can't do this in 2017 for public relations reasons, but in Subspace you could have you own .wav file.  Subspace players called it the "Kill Macro".  You could send it to anyone in the game by selecting them, which was fast and easy to do.  SCO is 1v1, so it could just be automatic on kill and you wouldn't even have to select a player to send it too.

It's a shame that you probably can't do this in 2017, there were some great ones.  There was a player who would send Fred Flintstone yelling "Yabba-Dabba-Do!!!", another guy played the Star Wars Empire Theme.

I actually didn't use a .wav file.  I went by the name "Disco Duck" and had text macros for "Quack!" (I got you good) and "Qua..." (you got me good).  Then I almost never spoke in chat on purpose, and people loved me for being almost religious about only "Quacking", haha!

EDIT: I started thinking... you probably can't allow players to choose their own .wav files these days, but the AI pilots could each have a catchphrase they use when they beat you in Fleet Battles.

Don't the AI pilots already have a victory ditty just like SC2?

I think it just zooms in on your ship.  When it does, I always think of the music that played when you defeated an oppenent in one of the very first computer games called "Karateka".  There should at least be music, but some type of catchphrase for each species would be cooler.  It's a shame one of them can't yell "Yabba Dabba Do!", that one made that guy pretty memorable;-)

Posted by Frogboy on Steam:

#3 You will eventually be able to set up sound effects for your primary and secondary abilities as well as set the Stinger music for your victory.

#4 You will eventually be able to pick your own set of animations for the portraits. These will be PNG bitstrips to support normal, severely damaged, victory, death, and hit. The Steam workshop will support players uploading their own bit strips, sound effects, etc. to share.

Setting the sound effects for your weapons seems strange too me, but I guess the younger crowd is accustomed to being able to do things like that in games.  The "I killed you music" is good, there should be some type of "taunt" like that when you die.
