Energy
There are very few parameters work with these simple arcade kind-of ships. You aren't currently using the energy and getting any variety out of it. Different systems and ships should use the energy bar in different ways, and there should be some weapons/devices that affect the energy bar. Right now energy works the same for everything, and there aren't any weapons or devices that affect it.
Some systems should, like Dan'naths Gravity Wave or the Scryve's big laser, should quickly drain energy while active instead of taking a chunk all at once. Others might reserve energy while on, like mana reservation in an RPG. One ship might use energy as health ("shield") and hit points as energy. There might be a ship or two that are designed around the energy bar in some way.
Then there should be some weapons and devices that attack/affect energy rather than health. The first one of these I would do is make the Tywom's drones fire EMP shots that drain energy rather than health. The Tywom drones doing damage is too powerful, so this would kill two birds with one stone. But, in general, you should be doing a lot more with energy than you are right now. There is a lot that can be done using energy in a wide variety of ways, and variety is hard to come by with these simple arcade game ships.
