Ok, I need to update my post with more info. The fog of war is not working correctly when your ship(s) is destroyed by the enemy. This should of course cause the enemy ships to become invisble assuming that no other friendly ship is at that location. That is not happening. You can follow the enemy through the fog. This to me seems to be the number 1 problem with this game. All of the other stuff that I have seen or read seems very minor (except for the people getting crashes of co

I have a question about some behavior I am seeing with the fog of war. Is this by design that you can see alien ships orbiting their planets even though they are behind the fog of war? Once they leave orbit they are invisble until they come out of the fog, but isn't it a bug to be able to see them at their planets? To me it somewhat defeats the purpose of having fog of war especially on small galaxies where alien stars are usually close by. Another similar question, you can also see

This is probably mentioned above somewhere but in case it is not. The fog of war should not allow us to see enemy ships in orbit around planets that are behind the fog. It renders the fog almost useless, espcially on small galaxies. I got a link for this too: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=29061

Maybe this is mentioned in here somewhere but I need to make sure. Fog of war still allows you to see enemy ships in orbit on their planets even when the planet is behind the fog. Kind of defeats the purpose of fog or war. I got a separate link for it too: http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GF&id=29061

So I am right about being able to see ships in the orbits of enemy planets behind the fog or war. I love this game but this seems like a pretty bad bug. Unless someone can explain to me why they would have the fog work like this, I think the fog of war is next to useless, especially on small galaxies where the enemy planets are fairly close to you.

Have you ever noticed that you can see any and all ships in orbit of a planet even though it is cleary in the fog of war? Unless I am mistaken, they seem to be the current ships and not an "image" of the what was there the last time the fog was lifted. Except for ships moving in space doesn't having the fog do this defeat the whole purpose of having a fog of war? :(

I did a test of what would happen when I ran my empire out of money. It did some very strange things and I am hoping someone can explain them. First off, my treasury was allowed to go to around -500 before it said anything. After that, it said that all research and production stopped until I get out of debt. That made sense but I kept losing money anyway because of leases that I gave myself. What happened a few turns later was that my race had a revolution and some of the pl

I am on my second game and I decided to just see what would happen if I ran my empire out of cash. I think I must have uncovered a small bug in doing this however. Even though my treasury is at $-580, when I view the rankings for my empire it shows me in first place for treasury! Of course that can't be. Unless I don't understand the ranking, I'd say this must be a bug.

Well, we have two opinions here. One is that an allied victory is where everybody remaining in the game is allied with everyday else (hence everybody wins). The other, which only applies to the human player is that he can achieve an allied victory if he is allied with every remaining major race. Since both sides seem confident that they are right, we may need Stardock to verifiy I suppose. :notsure:

I don't think it is true that all races have to be allied with each other for an allied victory. In the latest example, let's say instead that Drengin and Yor were both allied with Human but they were not allied with each other. I would think the humans would win the game with an allied victory. But actually in the last example, you had the Drengin allied with Human and Yor but Yor and Human were not allied. They did not get an allied victory so the rules must be different with an A.

I understand what you are saying about GalCiv getting slammed by MOO3 lovers. But look at the amount of people that learned about GalCiv through those posts on the MOO3 board. I would have never heard of GalCiv if it wasn't for a post on that forum. If people see GalCiv getting slammed on there and they do no investigation for themselves about the game, it's their loss. If you got a person very disappointed in MOO3 like I was, 10 to 1 they are going come here and get a much more positive out

I am yet another disappointed MOO3 fan that found out about this game through posts on their forum. The biggest problem for me with MOO3 is the horrible A.I. Maybe they can patch it and I will give it another try. But one thing I will say that has me really looking forward to GalCiv is the fact that it is single player only. I can't tell you the number of games I have literally trashed because the single-player A.I. was a joke (Sacrifice, Heroes of Might Magic 4, to name a few off the top of
