A few more bugs to list.

1) Had another crash to desktop. Once again it happened just after an election year and clicking the "ok" button. This has happened twice in about 8 hours of gameplay.

2) If you build a colony ship, load it up, and then want to move it to another already colonized planet in your star system, it doesn't show the icon for the colony ship pointing at the planet when you scroll over it...but if you click on the planet you want it does move it there and add to the population.

3) When loading a saved game, lost a ton of cultural influence....seemed to come back after a few turns... but still was very odd.

4) When loading a saved game, seemed like I could purchase anything that I was building for SUPER cheap. This could have just been my imagination though. However, prices seemed to go back to what I deemed normal after a couple turns.

5) When loading a saved game, my turns to complete current research jumped up to something like 217, this went back to normal after a couple turns.

I have retail plus the bonuspack.

The little victory progress tracker is wonky.

Right now, it says I have 12 months to cultural victory because I have more than 90% of the sectors under my control.

Two problems:
1. The month countdown isn't decreasing. It's been at 12 for several months. Which is probably because
2. I actually culturally dominate only 83% (13 of 16) of the sectors.

So the victory condition itself seems to be fine, it's just the indicator that's screwy.

Also, as others have suggested, make sure everything on the screen refreshes when you click Turn. Just annoying to have to re-click the planet list everyturn.

I'll try installing Brad's most recent update tonight and see if it's still acting weird after reload.

I am on my second game and I decided to just see what would happen if I ran my empire out of cash. I think I must have uncovered a small bug in doing this however. Even though my treasury is at $-580, when I view the rankings for my empire it shows me in first place for treasury! Of course that can't be. Unless I don't understand the ranking, I'd say this must be a bug.

Another oddity is the recap screen that comes up when I reload the game. Both times I've reloaded, the bot has noted "We've fallen behind technologically."

I haven't been *spending* very much money on tech, but I've have a strong enough military to badger the minor races and the Arceans into giving me tons of tech. At this point, no one has a tech that I don't have. So I should be at the leading edge.

I played another game and not a single ctd!

I did notice something that might be a bug, and most certainly is very irritating.

I was running my planets using the "Generic" or "Republic" govenor, the one right at the top of the list, but that does not have a name. Once I was up to quite a few planets I noticed that planets seemed to "forget" they that were using this govenor and emptied their social production slot, therefore not building anything. I regularly needed to go down the planets list and click on each planet to get it to continue using the govenor. The setting to use the govener did appear to be saved though, as it just required a click on "details" (from the main planet's screen) followed by a click on "back" to convince the planet to continue building.

Back to playing... I am soooo hooked this game it's frightning :D

Icurrently cannot load any of my save games dues to the bug reported earlier on this thread missing graphics after loading, then "red screen", then crash to the desktop. It seems this bug hit me more severely than others. Anyway, since it's a crashing bug, it should be the first priority for the devs ;)

I also have a problem with galactic wonders/achievments.

It says one per galaxy or race for these.

I have one planet as an economic capital. Then later on another one of my planets in a different sector also completed and economic capital. Both planets on the map have the little capital symbol, and economic capital listed in the details part. Plus in the stats part both ecomies are over 100% so both planets are getting the benefit. Im using the generic governer for most of my planets and IVe noticed a few others with economic capitals in their build que, but if I change it manually, the capital is not on the list of things to build. Maybe its some kinda glitch with the governers?

Ive also had simiar problems with eyes of the univers, in my game the other day I must have had 3 planets with them.

I havent had a problem as earlier described about making a wonder and then another race making one too.

This thread's getting a bit long so I don't know if this has been mentioned: Clicking on the ? mark icon to bring up info on the Gravity Accelerators trade good gives this - "this trade good will allow our ships to move 20.0000000aster"

Is anyone from Stardock still reading this thread?

I've found 2 bugs:
-I traded with a minor race to buy a Trade Good from them. After that the trade good disappeared from their list but it never (at not later turn) appeared in my list of things I own.
-When the userinterface turns too 'good' and you click on one of the overview screens (F4-F6) the part with the face in it is still in the 'Neutral' style.

I've noticed that when paying tribute to another empire the monthly dues are added as INCOME instead of a payment. Very easy to get any amount of money needed with this bug....also easy to buy off techs, ships and planets.
I second that one. The tribute lists in the expense column, but it is actually added to your income. A VERY cheatable bug that.

addition to my previous bug: I've noticed that the effect of the trade good I bought IS transferred (I noticed the change in my stats) but apparently I cannot trade it to anyone else anymore.

I am wondering the same thing. I know brad's put out a new exe with tweaks, but no info on the tweaks itself.

Biggy Boy - Trade goods are exclusively property. Meaning when you get it from another empire, you get rights to produce them within your empire and enjoy its benifits. Selling rights rests exclusively with the civ that originally researched it.

Racial Bonuses (what's working and what's not):

Military Production bonus... appears to not work at all (no bonus received)
Social Production bonus... appears to not work at all (no bonus received)
Research Production bonus... works, sort of... +20% is really +10% and +50% really gives +40% (technologist party bonus of +20% actually gives +10% as well)
Sensors... working fine, and I like them too :)
Speed... not working at all, no speed change on ships (+1 or +2)
Hit Points... working... though with both racial and party bonuses at 50% the ship does get +100% MAX hit points but starts with only +50% CURRENT hit points

Those are all the bonuses I've been able to test so far.... I'll let you know if I find out anything else...

See this thread. I think it is a bug. Two people verified that it sounds very strange.

Galactic wonders appear to be broken. In my last play I got several cases of developing one galactic wonders and, sometime later, another civilization developing it again (when thei should not, right?).

I build a Death Star but it become invisible as soon as I upgraded the starbase with the Death Star Shell thing. Several enemy ships were invisible too after that.

AutoSurvey doesn't work right all the time. Sometimes I'll click on that and my survey ship will go merrily along and pick up anomalies forever -- which is perfect. Sometimes it'll autosurvey until it hits the first anomaly, and then it turns the autosurvey off. Sometimes I'll click on autosurvey and the ship won't budge or put the text "autosurvey" under it.

Huh?

I think the duplicate wonders or trade goods could be due to the other civilization having it in their build queue but not being forced to change it when the player develops it first. Has anyone had two alien civs develop the same wonder or trade good in the same game? Perhaps this only applies in the case of an alien civ and a player building the same wonder or trade good, but if two alien civs are building the same thing it does force the loser of the race to switch... I guess that is something for the devs to look into...

@Biggy Boy

"addition to my previous bug: I've noticed that the effect of the trade good I bought IS transferred (I noticed the change in my stats) but apparently I cannot trade it to anyone else anymore. "

I believe this is by design. If you read the description of the Trade Good, you'll see that the race who created it has a _monopoly_ on it; i.e. only THEY may decide who gets it, and for how much.

Here's a minor bug (annoyance):

In the first game I played & completed, "Sector Sweep" worked perfectly. Enabling that while a ship was in a sector, made it go on an orbital "patrol route" of that sector.

But in my second game I'm playing right now, it's not working properly for about half the ships. Instead of patrolling the sector that they're currently in, they seem to feel a need to go to one particular sector (and ALWAYS that sector) to do their patrol sweep. A bit annoying, and it seems I'm the only one who likes using this feature. :notsure:

Both games are using identical program versions, 1.00 with no bonus pack. However I did add those 3 library updates to the game between now and then.

Don't know if this is a bug or a suggestion, but here it goes.

I dislike how the music drops out when the planet screen is up. It's disconcerting to be grooving along to the music - which is quite good - and suddenly have quiet.

The cultural victory method. Serious problem with this. I saved the game the month prior to my cultural victory just in case trying to submit my score to the metaverse wouldn't work (which it did not work). Well I DLed the alternative dll file. Loaded that save, and guess what, the damn game started all over again with the cultural thing. First, when I loaded that save, it reset cultural percentage to fifty percent. Over a couple of turns it started that 12 month count all over again. And my score was significantly lower because of that reset of the cultural thing. Is this by design?

Very irritating problem

Great game. Many of my findings are already found (and reported). But I've noticed a few occurrences that might qualify as bugs:

* When a race offers to "make peace" - their ships are not shown (mine are) - frustrating as I often make war simply to capture resources which have starbases mining them. The ability to offer ships in such a peace deal, but not receive them seems buggy.

* An odd one. In my first game (tiny, rare) there were no uncolonized inhabitable planets left (nothing above a 10 if I recall), but a new minor race event occurred - result was a new "stealth" star (and presumably a planet) which I could neither see nor click. Really confused me for a while. My terrorstar however did destroy it after I traced the trade ship back to a "blank" square. Wish I had kept the saves.

* Arrow keys don't list thru planets in planet view (and arrow buttons are kind of picky). Please?

* After winning via tech path, loaded autosave (-4 turns) without quitting galciv to try for conquest victory and the victory condition for tech was at 114% but final techs were not researched.

* on planet detail screen, planet quality has no value after it. I think it should show planet class, and it would be nice if it showed base and improved class.

* noticed AI sending (many) constructors to repeatedly move back and forth between two existing starbase location. My guess was that both were maxed out - but I didn't think of this until later.

* Not a bug as per se, but when clicking on a square with both a star base and ship(s) selects the star base (as it's almost always first in the stack) - perhaps it could always select the last (or first excluding starbases).

* AIs keep beating me, even when I turn off my computer.

Sorry about not saving savegame files for the weirder ones. It didn't occur to me until after. I guess I'm just not used to a developer *supporting* their games – but I’m certainly delighted to find one. Keep up the great work!
:CONGRAT:

I've seen several of the problems listed here. Retail, updated to 1.01 with bonus pack.

Could not submit my game to Metaverse. Saw three alien races build the same Trade Good. 2 on the same turn. Half my planets liked to build my 'once in a galaxy' deals, thanks to use of the generic build queue.

I've got a set of zips for the corrupted save game. I had a CTD at my very first Cultural win. That autosave is corrupted. Going back to the previous-autosave, I missed the same Cultural win, as the aliens decided to improve their culture, and culture resets on load. Took a while longer to win. Had the CTD and red screen on reload twice more, each time at the cultural win point for me. Something seems odd in that code path.

The deal on auto-survey not going anywhere... you don't know of any anoms. Send out a scout ship into an unexplored area, and watch that survey ship take off as soon as you uncover some anoms. Fun fun! (That is certainly design. And a good one.)

Been having fun with the game. Too bad my cultural win didn't make it to the Metaverse. Will try the new dll and exe and see if that helps...
