Havne't played Galciv in a while so I forgot and can't find the answer yet....when you research/find/mine something that improves the STATS of your ships, do they increase automatically or do you have to go to a starbase/port to refit? I though you had to like orbit a planet for a week to get the stat increase....might be wrong.. Thanks Doc

You are not paying for the beta. If you join Drengin.net, you get alot of stuff and the priveledge to download the beta and use it. If you don't want it, wait till it's finished...pretty simple. No blackmail in my book. Just someone who wants the beta and can't get it because he's not in the *club* and won't join. You'll have it soon enough.

Do ANY OF YOU READ THE LICENSE AGREEMENTS's with your software...you know the one's that won't let you install till you scroll to the end of the page...start reading the fine print. He who'd buys has the license..PERIOD. They are the one's supported...PERIOD. End of discussion. Paquama...they can sell used games...you just get no support from the publishers.

I don't know what all the uprising is over Battlehammers...in the scheme of things, the Alliance said, let's upgrade the battleaxe, but let's give it some firepower too so we don't have to augment it with extra attack ships. Maybe the HP's are too high, but 40 makes it useless. 60-70 would be better. It's supposed to be able to take on Battleships and dreadnoughts after all..

STarted two as a Universalist, bailed on the first one, am well into the second. Pet peeve so far is Large map and all the civs knocking on my door right away...please! it's a large map! 1st game...2 26 planets right off the bat...found 3 more, 2 20+...went ofr it..BAM Torians get 2, Dengin get the other! about 20 moves in for cryin out loud! Next game better, planets much lower quality, but too much contact too early! Having the Drengin and Yor(shortly) declare war on you early isn't helpin

I understand alot of what is being said BUT all these suggestions will seriously affect cultural path to victory. And just because some UBER-PLAYERS are cheesing with starbases toward the end doesn't mean we all are in any way shape or form. Most of these suggestions will hurt the casual player who isn't good enough to play on the top difficulty levels. A hard limit is not a good idea. Maintenance costs may flat out take away a players option to go for cultural victory...and so on and so on.

Decent starting position, would have been a tremendous start but my colony ship is 1 sector shy of a 3 habitable system with the planet 19, 17, 15. They would have been the topper...then only the Dengin and myself are known. I had slightly less influence SO I get the prison. The Dengin sloly hate me, so I begin to prepare for the worst. The Altarians and the Torians are friendly, but the ltarians are getting very big and influencial. Then the inevtiable prison breakout. 3 Battle cruisers.

If an enemy starsystem is developing a bioweapon spread out on all the system's planets for security reason, and his evil intent is to use it to exterminate all humans, AND you just lost a ton of warships in a war so you cannot mount a big, prolonged invasion to stop him BUT you can build a terror star in time to use it and save humanity....using it is evil?

My favorite is "Please help me the Drengin are going to destroy us. Can you do anything?"....then you give them 4 corvettes and 4 defenders for 100 for 4 turns and they say..."And that's a good deal HOW?" Especially when they have 2000bc!! Sheesh!
