OMG, I am so sick of these "the AI is cheating, cuz I couldnt win the 1st time I played" posts. Get over your huge ego, play a few more games, get a clue- then come back and talk to us. [Message Edited]

Better get a new version- it's referenced in there.
From merriam webster's online dictionary. "Irregardless originated in dialectal American speech in the early 20th century. Its fairly widespread use in speech called it to the attention of usage commentators as early as 1927. The most frequently repeated remark about it is that "there is no such word." There is such a word, however. It is still used primarily in speech, although it can be found from time to time in edited prose." So there LOL But, yes regardless is a much better choic
I totally agree. My intended point was that if you dont want drengin.net, you cant very well complain about people getting the expansion beta who do subscribe... because if it IS really that important to someone they can just cough up $30.... Eh, this is a stupid discussion anyhow- sorry for straying OT. (:(
"No, I always thought that it would be useless to get Drengin.net when you already had GalCiv and you explained the reason very well." Must not be entirely useless, since he clearly wants the beta version of the expansion. I really dont see where the gripe is here.... do they think it would be fair or even sensible to release the beta to the public? Whatabout people who felt it was "worth it" to subscribe? I guess they just get screwed then. Irregardless, this is nothing new as
Where's Bobo when ya need him? :D
Yeah, I always set planets I dont need cranking out warships to constructors. Constructors have relatively long build times, which is great since if you suddenly have a need for a quick battle axe or whatnot, you just change production and it usually pops out in the next month or so. Additionally, they have no upkeep and you really cant have too many constructors. ;) In my mind at least, that helps offset the otherwise wasted production. [Message Edited]
Hehe.... these bobo posts crack me up! :D
What is the point of a message like that anyhow? If you completely and totally hate the game.... Dont play it, and leave us alone! "The AI cheats out the ass. I have beat the game at Beginner up to Normal. Anything beyond that it is unbelievably predictable in it's attitude." -read 'I suck at the game, therefore it must be cheating'
Eh, I was totally turned off by WC3- I found it to be a rush-happy click fest. Im undecided about resources never depleting... in TA it was done very well, resource control/placement still gave good reasons to expand....but generally Im wary of limitless resources. Guess I'll have to have a look and make up my own mind. :HOT:
Smacks of another 'Im not any good/I cant understand the game, so I demand you change it til its something that Im the best at" type post. ;p "Also, despite of what some posters said, GalCiv is a simulation, a lowsy one at that at this moment..." My only resonse is... well go play one of your 500 other games then- sounds like this game isnt at all what you want.
"In terms of representative power, I don't think we're as insignificant as the numbers themselves make it appear." Well obviously, everyone wants to think they're opinion is important.... but I think many people delude themselves into thinking that 1, they speak for some group of people other than themselves, and 2, that their opinion has an impact on the sucess of the company. I find the thought that everyone who buys this game is coming the the forums absurd, as that scenario is n
I, for one, really dont like to see treaties and such being enforced by coded time-limits. To me its unrealistic and constraining to do so. If Im honorable, I'll honor a cease fire, if I wanna be a mean jerk I'll break the treaty. I would think it cool if the AI would hold it against you (ie. not trust you as easily) if you constantly do 180's after signing a treaty, but I really don't like being forced to abide by treaties. Encourage Civs to do so, but dont force them.
Well just as a suggestion, maybe people wouldnt think you a drooling idiot if you didnt open up with outlandish and less than well-informed statements such as these "Played quite a few 4x games and the Gal Civ AI is among the best cheaters of the lot." Like I said, just a suggestion. ;p
Has anyone else read Brad's game play examples under the encyclopedia? I thoroughly enjoyed them when I read them and I think they show how fun the game can be. I also think they are really good selling points for the game (helped to do the trick in my case). So.. I guess what Im getting at is that I think it'd be nice to see more of these and maybe have them more prominently featured instead of buried at the bottom of the encyclopedia. :) So what do you guys agree... or am I just craz
"the most vocal on here (because they're generally the higher ranking players) are insignificant and irrelevant" That's clearly not what he meant- I think that is obvious to just about everyone. I'm sorry if its damaging to your ego that the devs dont cater to your every demand.
Nope, Id call that a logical argument. If you and others wouldve replied like this originally instead of being abrasive and condescending like in ....#44 I doubt we'd be discussing this. My problem is how quickly people are willing to crucify the devs and tell them they are ruining a game, while demanding immediate changes in all of a 48hr period. That's ridiculous. Good job calling me an elitist though- you really prove your point there. LOL
Here here guys. It seems the better the community has it- the more they whine... Ive been on many game forums where devs have come out and said "yeah, we know its unbalanced- but there's no money in it for us to patch it" These guys actually care about making a fun balanced game and have and by anyone's standards there has been a TON of support for it by the devs. I really don't think these people realize how good they have it. They constantly make tweaks and changes, many of which are base
Well, maybe Im out of line here.... but I think that maso skill level is supposed to be extremely difficult. If people are crying about how tough the game is, then maybe they shouldnt play it at the hardest skill level. I mean, if its supposed to be the absolute hardest skill level I dont think it should be win-able by everyone. ...That is all. [Message Edited]
