Process sucks

Your process for downloading updates sucks. Whoever came up with this scheme (developer, project mgr, etc.) is a wingnut. Most of us in the IT world develop solutions for the ease of our users...I spent longer updating my product than installing it. >:(

Well, I didn't have any problems, though I agree it may be a bit more complicated than it could be. Given the nature of their business model though, I think its a decent solution.

I mean come on, you setup stardock and you download- unless you have some problem downloading (are you a 56k mortal? THEN GET OFF THE INTERNET! BAHAHAHAHAHA :P), it really shouldn't be an issue...

Now, if you want to see 'sucks', go take a look at the customer support for the Xodus/Matrix modchips (xbox). I emailed them a kajillion years ago and they still haven't responded. And yes, I tried a second time, still no go.

But I'm not bitter. Its not like I'm badmouthing them on unrelated forums or anything--- oh wait...

Once you installed startdock central and registered, I can not imagine an easier way of updating! Launch SDC, klick the lil' update button for Galciv and wait for the update to apply...

You imply you work in IT and then publicly claim you had difficulty figuring out something that's no more complicated to configure than an email client.

I hope your boss never sees this post ;)

I thought SDC was very easy to setup and is very easy to use. I prefer just hitting the update button and everything is done for me.

I agree with you Code Monkey LOL

The process is different than with other products. Perhaps it's just that your not used to it that makes it seem hard at first. Not only is it easy, but the update button only appears for you when there is a newer version available. You don't even have to think.
