Cuorebrave, He said that is the plan already. The two things they seem to plan on letting us mess with soon are super melee and the opening part of the full game.
Hehe, true :) I know he SAID that, but... I think I was urging more like, ACTUALLY, REALLY let us help lol... But you're right. I'm hoping it's true, I look forward to coming up with some cool stuff 😎
I agree about the tutorial, it's so well hidden I never noticed until you just mentioned it. Well played.
They introduced you to all systems (except bio material's eventual use) in those first 30 minutes, without ever giving you an invisible wall, a labeled tutorial, or overtly forcing you in one direction - while still basically forcing you down one direction ;) There was ship naviga

I believe this is in the game already - you can swap out the nose of your ship for noses that look strongly similar to the other races' ships in game. Not 100% confirmed that's how it will work, but the signs are there. THAT BEING SAID - it's a brilliant idea to find long-dead races hidden throughout the galaxy, and maybe following a questline to its completion would grant you a new nose the galaxy hasn't seen in a million years. And THAT would be awesome!

Please don't label it, or name it "tutorial". SCII held your hand but in an organic way. You could leave the solar system, but couldn't reach anywhere meaningful, because you only have 10 fuel. And you couldn't get more fuel until you found earth, and helped them in a few ways - gathering radioactives and clearing out the moon base, culminating in finally destroying an Ilwrath ship - half-crew and unable to cloak - so as to ease your passing through the "non-tutorial"... whenever

I read both interviews with Brad, and found a couple highlights that were interesting to me: 1) " the main cast of Origins is all-new " - he was very specific, saying "the main cast"... I take this to mean that the main aliens from SCII will not be making an appearance. However, the supporting cast could very well make an appearance in this universe, and this month's Vault update shows that at least the Precursors will be back. But, who e

Guess what? The vault is up :) There's not a ton of substance, and while I'm sure a lot of people here will understand and appreciate the hyperthreading and the engine-talk and all that - the actual content of the update is a little underwhelming. HOWEVER - there are a few key points to note and it was such a Rollercoaster, I felt like Winona Ryder's face at the SAG Awards last night. Here is the takeaway : </

I'll echo what most people here say - I'm not a computer programmer, so I don't need to know about all the tech details. But I'd sure like to be more involved with the discussion of the general direction the game is going - and to let us all know how we've specifically affected the development so far. Any chance you could give us some of that knowledge? That was fun about the Super Melee discussion - intense debate both internally, and with us on here, and I feel like you
If you're crafting a Single player experience then this isn't too hard to manage. Since you want the story to progress in a specific way you can essentially gate technologies behind planets, but place them strategically so they aren't "oh thats so cool except i wont get to that planet until the end game"
I don't wa

OMG, this thread is hilarious!!! Shout out to Satoru, Prodigalmaster and Volusianus for making me audibly laugh hysterically on a MONDAY! That almost never happens. I'm excited about the vault update this month! Hoping it's excellent! Side Note: There's a new banner on the top of this page that says, "STARDOCK COMMUNITY EVENT" and I thought to myself - holy crap! They finally did it! They flagged this as the OFFICIAL January Update thread, so there's no m

Isn't it funny? Pshaw comes on here on the 21st, saying he'll be our new, active forum liaison - posts until the 27th... and then? Utter silence for a month LOL... I mean, just GONE. I haven't been on here for a month either, but I did think I'd come back at the end of the month for the vault update, and he'd be all OVER these forums. But, no. Silence! What happened there?

You know what this thread is? Assuming a LOT of things, when we've never had our hands on anything. To Stardock's credit, they make good games. They do. I've never played a bad one. I didn't love GCIII, but mostly because I love Stellaris' intricate systems and thousands of crazy, wiggly aliens - it captivates me for hundreds of hours, and GC3 did not. But, they don't make any bad games. Everyone who is taking part in kicking Stardock over the measly prac
In SC2 you also had the Melnorme who would help you out if you ran out of fuel. So there must be another race / module / option that will be filling in that role as it would be a major fun killer to run out of fuel and have no way of getting more. Hence the suggestion to have more than one way of obtaining fuel. I like the idea of the fuel scoop, however instead of the star, how about a gas giant. (at lea
