No. We have the sequel in preproduction. We did have to lay off some members of the team due to the loss of revenue as a result of Reiche and Ford’s ridiculous DMCA claim indicating that they think they’re also the “creators” of our game too. But that won’t prevent updates and work on the season pass was not affected.

$19.99 is for the season pass so you get all 4 DLCs with it. Glad you're liking the game! It's going to get even better as time goes on and the universe fills up and more and more non-linear avenues of exploration come into play.
Quoting Frogboy, reply 7 Do you have any idea how many Harry Potter clones books are out there with just a few changes? SCO is not a clone of SC2 but even if it were, it's obviously a very different game experience. Do you have any idea how man
I should also point out that our camera view isn't top-down. It's slightly isometric. Not that it matters.
You're ignoring the bigger picture: while individual aspects are clearly not eligible for copyright in and of themselves, the broader "Look and Feel" is (debatably/potentially) copyrightable: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Look_and_feel#Lawsuits This is hardly the first time a software company has faced a copyright claim on the grounds of "look and feel" either. People actually are accusing me of making up this chart. "No one is that ignorant on copyright".
This past week, Activision executives, Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford sent DMCA notices to Steam and GOG demanding the removal of Star Control: Origins on the grounds that Star Control: Origins violates unspecified copyrights of theirs. Finally, after many months of requesting from them what, specifically, in our game that they they believe they own they finally posted a table outlining their justification for taking down our gam
Hey Brad, how will this affect the update you gave in the founders starbase in regards to future Origins games? Sounds like those plans are axed unless this issue gets resolved. Just want to confirm if that's the case.
Too early to say.
Update: https://forums.starcontrol.com/492834/paul-reiche-and-fred-ford-issue-dmca-take-down
We have received news today that Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford, contractors on the classic DOS game, Star Control 2 for Accolade and widely credited as being the "creators" of Star Control II have issued a DMCA take down notices to Valve and GOG to take down Star Control: Origins. (this is the one sent to GOG) As some of you m
What was all the DLC that was going to be free with a founder's purchase?
Lifetime Founders get the DLC for free. That was the $99 package.
Greetings! Star Control: Origins is out and it is good. We have released a couple of free DLC including the promised modding features and the Reinforcements DLC. We have also released a season pass called Earth Rising which is an expansion broken into 4 parts with part 1, Aftermath, already out and the second part, Lexites, due out early next year. So what's next? Right now, much of our focus is on porting Star Control to consoles. Thi
We have two Tesla model X's. Love them!
Star Control: Origins is just the beginning of our journey. This post will give you tentative schedule of what we have in the works going forward: Fall 2018: Season Pass: . When you look back at your favorite RPGs of all time, what were some of your favorite quests and what made them so compelling?
Stardock demanded that P&F stop selling the games on GOG. So, yes, they would be following through on your own demands here.
Uh huh. And what is the excuse for suing Valve? BTW, the games haven't been for sale on GOG since last Winter I believe.
Right, it's really Stardock's fault that Paul and Fred created a "defense" GoFundMe and then used their fans' money to sue GOG and Valve. All this could be over in a day if they'd quit using the Star Control trademark to promote their game, quit challenging the validity of our mark and quit meddling with the Star Control series going forward. We'd even drop the trademarks to UQM and the old alien names. From the start, our position has been that we must protec
Thank you for the patches, this game is now playable on my machine! It really is a pity that this was not the 1.0 patch (and as written earlier, I think many of the bugs should have been identified and addressed prior to 1.0), but despite all the issues with the communities, I really like this new universe start. Depending on the legal situation, I really, really hope to see more from the multiverse and not let this be another dea
We are making sure the mods are uploaded elsewhere as well.
As you must certainly be aware, we have received a great number of review bombs from due to the legal issues that have been widely misrepresented. if you have already concluded that we are incapable of delivering a story that will meet your expectations then there is very little further to discuss. We have a big universe to flesh out over the next decade. Hopefully most players will enjoy what we will wrought.
Given SCO is $40 and the season pass will be $20 for a total of $60 I think it’s safe to say the jury is out whether SCO will or won reach the level of lore content you want for $60.
That would be a modding thing. The SC 1/2/3 ships aren't canon to the SCO universe.
All these ideas are super helpful. Posting them here lets us all here at Stardock take a look and see how we can make those ideas a reality. ;)
Riku did the planet music too. There is a lot of music in SCO. :) b
Tbh, it wasn’t intentional. I haven’t personally run into that Easter egg. Broadly speaking, I am hopeful for a resolution where the sc2 related creatives strictly go to them and they stop trying to use/take the Star Control trademark and stop trying to interfere with our game. I think that’s the cleanest solution.
