I think in some of these cases you're thinking of bundling (i.e. take the base game + DLC) versus an actual new SCU (an actual new product). Most of what I see here are things that could be added via DLC and then later bundled together to create, for instance, Star Control: Origins - Definitive Edition which would be the base game + DLCs. The time to do that would be, as others suggested, when a console version is completed.

So e good ideas there. But I’m not sure how you would sell it. Not really practical to create a new game scu and it would make for a pretty odd DLC. How much would people pay for it?
Without going into too much spoilage, the Star Control universe is a bit different from the Singularity universe. For one thing, we're in 2088 where as Ashes takes place a century later. It'll make more sense as the two games evolve.
I agree with the general consensus that a more fleshed out universe is in order. I also think, as a practical matter, that we need to have some more interesting things to do on planets than what we have now. On the Star Control discord, I've mentioned in the past having landing parties. The issue on landing parties is, of course, budget and whether we leave that for a sequel or not.
Earth Rising part 2 is in with the voice actors. Part 3 and 4 are being programmed now. :) Part 3 is, from what I'm seeing, quite a bit bigger than part 1 and 2.
Lines being recorded this week.
Should take a minimum of 2 hours to do it. It’s not just one quest chain.
It's very interesting to watch from a legal observers standpoint. I think a lot of precedent is going to be set here as I could find no cases in which a product that was under development was actually put on the market in the midst of an IP dispute. As for my game commentary, I'll take it to a more appropriate thread.
The Blizaard vs. Valve case over Dota2 is still in court. It happens all too frequen
Preview is coming out next week.
We have ported the core engine over to Linux which is a first step to making it "platform neutral". We are currently in process of getting it over to XBO and PS4. Nintendo Switch may have to wait though as it's a bit harder target.

Not that I know of. I would start by making simple weapons and go from there. I’ve been meaning to try it myself but, as always, time is a commodity I lack. ;)
I suspect in a few years most gamers will be subscribing to multiple game services for $10 per month. It’s going to go the same route the movies and music have gone imo.
The next Stardock Magazine will talk about the programs you mention and more. :)

Glad you're liking it! I think you will really like the new expansion. The balance improvements, updated tech tree and new features I think make it a much deeper game imo.
Enough. The 1988 agreement being in effect or not being in effect is irrelevant to this discussion. They have nothing to do with Star Control: Origins. They have no rights to it. Frankly, I think it’s pretty gross to see Paul and Fred’s fans spinning their awful behavior into unrelated arguments. If they they had any ethical or moral compass whatsoever they would acknowledge that DMCAing Origins on Steam for the reasons they publicly stated was despicable.&nb
So many internet lawyers... I'll refer to the fairly straight forward example I gave earlier. If you can't put A and B next to each other and compare, then it's not a copyright discussion.
Yeah, hence their claims are a bit strange... Brad can you inform us of the court developments? (if you can disclose them). Is there still a chance for a settlement/solution?
Nothing new on the court side. Government shut down probably isn't helping. We are planning on a releasing a status update this Monday.
Greetings! Star Control has definitely been the most...dramatic franchise we've ever worked on. No doubt the diabolical work of the Crimson Corporation indeed! So what's next? What's happening? Right now, we're working on Part 2 of Earth Rising which revolves aro
I'll pass this on.
Last week, Activision executives, Paul Reiche III and Fred Ford issued what we believe to be false DMCA notices to GOG and Valve claiming to own elements of the new Star Control: Origins game. Reiche and Ford, who are best known for running the studio that works on Skylanders and Spyro the Dragon Reignited, had DMCA'd the beta of Star Control: Origins last Summer despite providing us with no specifics as to what, if anything, they believe they own in our game.
