We probably won't be doing any more expansions for Star Control: Origins. We have a couple of projects that we're super busy with (one of which is www.galciv4.com ). But once that's done, we're looking at working on the next Star Control sequel.

The lore that exists in the Star Control games is pretty convoluted due to the various splittings of copyrights in the series. It kind of reminds me of some of the Man-Kzin Wars books where Larry Niven has a "Known Space" universe with many others having written Man-Kzin war books and own, presumably the copyrights for their own works. It's Christmas Eve as I write this. 2020 has been a pretty crazy year. Covid has affected us just as it has probably affected many of you. When developing the new Star Control game, we had an opportunity to see how far along the Vulkan and DirectX 12 tech was. The answer, at the time, was not as far as we would have liked. In the end, Star Control: Origins shipped using only DirectX 11 because there just wasn't enough of a difference between DX11 and the new APIs even though the game sure could have benefited, especially on the planet, from the features of DX12 and Vulkan.
