^Please fix Trickster sound effect. It is really annoying, overpowering any other sound in the video. Also, AI doesn't seem to handle border barriers well at all. Planet gravity is problem for them too.
Over the next several months you'll see a lot of improvements across the board.

Some very enjoyable feedback. I agree about the backgrounds in particular.
If you didn't have an issue with magic teleport-wrapping it's hard to suggest we need to worry about the realism of a battle arena. ;) Realism, in space battle, is very boring.

When a ship is hit, you can see the crew that just died for a sec.
But I'm not really looking to make comparisons between SC2 and SC:O. It's more that I'm comparing SC:O to other titles I can buy that are getting released this year. And compared to contemporary competitors in the market this just doesn't present well.
Such as? And I don't mean that as a challenge. I am trying to envision what recent games you are comparing it to. I suppose my main
Update: The leash is dead. Wrapping is dead. You fight within a planet system now (think big arena). We should have this rolled out to you guys...soon. Early impressions are very positive. A lot more strategy is now involved and maneuverability is a little more prized.
We really need to be careful not to split the community up too much even if I agree with what you're saying here. I almost think we should treat it as a filtering system like: 1. Find Match Filters: [ ] Allow Custom Ships [ ] Ranked Where players can pick those while searching and have the game update an estimated time to find a player based on those choices (i.e. you can change your choice aby time and it will update the estimate). &nbs
We're closing in on page 4. There's some good stuff here and we will be discussing them at tomorrow's meeting. As I said before, the old style wrapping isn't going to be coming back except as possibly an unsupported hard-core mode. There are just too many issues with it that I think some people here are choosing to not remember (you could really grief with it and beyond SC fans of old, we've had a lot of negative feedback with it). OBVIOUSLY, th
As people play the game, a lot of the backstory will come through. The Commander in SC2 always looked very young (20s) and I presumed he looked young because of the tech. Look at me. I'm 46 and I look like I'm 25... cough.
The Commander is over 60 years old. She looks young for the same reason most humans in 2086 look young. The only reason that she has any white at all was because she was already fairly old before the Synth tech started being distributed. There's a whole backstory on her and the formation of Star Control. The ship wasn't originally being made to go after the Tywom but rather to go find the Synths.
Updated.
^ Is SCO main story as epic as SC2?
i think so. We have the advantage of introducing all new characters. In sc2 you already knew the bad guys.
It’s not viable because part 1 would require people to hunt down A 25 year old game and play it. hence, my lobbying of Paul and Fred to do that, When we acquired the franchise, I had two goals: reboot Star Control and get Paul and fred to return to continue their story. Both cases involved a lot of begging and pleading on my part. ;)
Just goes to show how important it is to give feedback on your preferences before it’s way...way...way too late. there are two elements. Art style and character design. I like the art style. I haven’t liked some of the character designs so I’ve been asking for changes which started around 9 months ago. Hence the new menkmack, measured, and other races. The commander will eventually get a neck tweak but otherwise, she’s complete. </
And has been discussed, it's not viable, other than as nostalgiaware, to tie Star Control to a 25 year old story.

We are going to revisit her neck. But it's non-trivial.
Tomorrow we will be making Star Control 1, 2, and 3 available on Steam. We will also make Star Control: Origins available on Steam for pre-orders. Question: What is the difference between Founders and Pre-Order customers? Answer: Pre-Order customers will not gain access to the beta until November. They will not have access to this forum They will not have access to the vault They will not have access to
