I have some feedback regarding having some "key feedback" posts pinned. (My next post will have the full details.)
No you're not. I hate this mindset because it leads to people doing SOMETHING when sometimes the best solution really is to do nothing and let the problem take care of itself. Apathy != supporting the opposition, no matter how you try to spin it.
This is a Jedi mind trick to get me to stop squeaking. I'm on to you!
The people on here who are actually software developers who've renounced the idea that they might be actively steering development here set a good example for how others should consider their role as a founder. Stardock is going to do what they think works best, as opposed to what some dedicated fans demand because they provided a fraction of sales revenue up front. I'm not under any delusion that I'm ultimately in
^ I, on the other hand, make no promises.
Lol, was wondering if anyone would notice It was a Mac. Good to know local MP will be added eventually when the Xbox version comes out.
Well, to be fair, I see setups like this all the time on PCMR. And don't count on it being a promise that local multiplayer is going to be added for the Xbox version. (Nice, Kavik)
I'm not saying I disagree, but there's a point as which the squeaking wheel just gets kicked until it stops squeaking or gets replaced. I know that's already been said, but there's a fine line between urgent feedback and spam.
Anyone who believes that the squeaky wheel gets replaced doesn't use shopping carts at WalMart. :P Besides...When have I ever submitted urgent feedback? If that is a
^ I doubt the holoscreen gimmick involves more than 2% of man-hours that are needed to make a solid local MP. Okay, 5%.
Time has to come from somewhere. A little from here, a little from there, and BAM! Local Multiplayer.
Now that I know that local multiplayer is a yellow feature, I would rather have local multiplayer than have a holoscreen communication gimmick. Because, really, I am only going to care about the gimmick once.
I for one will be using the mouse to select dialogue, not keys [e digicons]:P[/e] .
Me too. Because I don't trust keys. One wrong keypress, and I've just declared war.
Well technology has changed a lot since 1992. Back then, only one kid in the whole neighborhood had a PC. So you had to have local MP. Nowadays not only does everyone have their own PC, but usually multiple PC's. I am not sure the modern gamer technology can handle split screen anymore. Where would they sit?
Local multiplayer hasn't been dropped. But it isn't a promised feature either. It all depends on the schedule. It is something we want as we are planning an XBOX version of the game in the future.
Thanks for the update, Brad. I appreciate it. The fact that it wasn't a promised feature kind of makes me sad. But that is why I kept hounding Andrew about it. At first I had
What about now? [e digicons]:D[/e]
It's entirely possible that Darkwing + Scryve ship is what happens when you successfully deal with the Scryve. The Scryve are an early menace and cannot be the end game baddie. Thus they need to be taken out of the picture somehow.
^ You're welcome! Can we get to know the weight of our influence? Did we even affect anything? Something?.. Were we even useful at all?
We helped fund development by donating $99.
I'm gonna cry [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]X([/e] [e digicons]X([/e] nobody wants to play with me. Waah! Brad, I guess you got your answer. No one wants to critique ships they can barely see. Who knew???
It isn't like they have to wait until October 31st to post better images. Maybe this will spur an outpouring of high quality ship images?
Omg, thanks for putting a pic of the ships here. I couldn't figure out a good way to do that.
For future reference, you can use NitroPDF reader to extract images. Right-click on the image and save it in all its pixelated glory. Other PDF readers will do this as well.
Subspace had no level of zoom, just "visual range" and "radar range". The 64-player map was MUCH bigger than radar range. If you got good at it, and a little lucky, you could hit ships on radar by "blind firing" based on judging the shot by the radar.
These types of systems are great for MMO's like Subspace, but you should scale your systems down to short, quick, arcadey engagements. I know that is har

My daughter suggested that I name my planet "A PLANET" to troll all of you.
I do think I may not have noted enough (re: savage's post) that I also, honestly, care about 10% about the melee combat, and 40% exploring and 50% talking to aliens haha
Don't ignore SuperMelee, even if you only care about it 10%. Some of the propositions like solar-system-wide arenas, off-screen ships, and RADAR go hand-in-hand with longer space battles. If you care more about exploration, the last thing y
I'm weighing the game components by the level of effort they take from the devs. SuperMelee is roughly getting 33% of development resources according to the updates. And to me, SuperMelee is a fighting game where I spend 20% playing against the AI, 5% watching the AI play, 5% playing against the obnoxious "gg ez" / cheater crowd online, and 70% playing friends in local multiplayer.
This is how the Avatar would look if it had been in the PDF document. This is how it looks in SC2.
............ Never. And, seriously, it's weird you're so against that. Ship Critique thread. This is happening.
I'm against long posts that are in the opening paragraph. See my latest post for a sample. I can't force you post like that. But at least I can show you what I mean.
And what kind of founder wants to have
Another update has come and gone. One thing that disappointed me (aside from the lack of the local multiplayer reveal/cancellation) was the sheer ugliness of the images that we are getting. "But Nobody! These are WiP images! They are supposed to be ugly!" I'm not talking about what is *in* the images. I am speaking about the ugly compressed garbage that we are being fed in order to get our opinions. How in the hell am I supposed to critique a ship that looks like T
