Wow. In an amazing turn of events, and something I've not actually seen during the beta: The Drengin have had an internal revolution in which they have gone from being evil and blood thirsty to kind and gentle. This is a good opportunity to test out the dialog code for the Drengin.. I'm so happy to see this. One of my favorite parts

I agree with the idea of Final Frontier giving some sort of bonuses to whoever researches it.
Part of the reason I bought the game was because of the promise of hardcore customer service. I have been far from dissapointed. 1.1 with the bonuspack was what I started out with when I bought the game, and it was amazingly free of problems compared to many other products after their first major update...an update that came around the same time the game was released! Nothing to complain about there.
A few things I would like to see...: -More UP issues and events integrated into the game -more of the backstory put in, using above two methods and through some of the cutsecnes/descriptions -some parts of the tech tree in the late game feel kind of lacking. I'd like for there to be new things to build socially and in my fleets towards in the late game, espically if I'm playing a game with tech win off -also, for people who sometimes play games with tech win off, give final
While certainly not a must add feature, it would be handy.
Depends on my Alignment, really. For example if I'm playing with the Good path I name them after heroic battles, leaders, and warships of the past. Usually American, British, German, or Japanese names. If I'm playing with the Evil dark side, I usually give them intimidating titles, or even various religious extremist ones. In one game I named my leader the Ayatollah of the Islamic Republic of Earth and gave all my ships and systems names of Iranian cities. :D
Excaliburs are the single reason why I tech whore like I do up the ladder. A horde of missiles and a few massive capital ships = excessive weight to throw around. LOL
Thanks for the essay on what we can do with the issues, by the way!
There was a thread earlier about mod ideas, and I posted some UP issues I thought would be interesting. I tried working a bit on them myself, but I had no luck. Looking at this it seems .upissues are a lot more hardcoded than I first thought, though it isn't that bad. Anyway if you have time to be able to add more options to be added in, here were a few ideas that I've really liked: _Freezing Diplomacy with the I-League_: If passed, the UP council would refuse to recogonize the I-League'
It seems obvious they tried to discourage early rushes as much as possible. They only way you are going to mount a serious early game offensive is through swift asteroid grabbing. You can take your time getting to the tech for transports as long as you can destroy any ship the enemy has before it has a chance to leave the system.
I do the same thing as Verenti. A few other examples: New China: My breeding pits New Iran: All missiles, all the time New Tibet, New Gaza, New Golan, New Kashmir...: Systems I took by force :D New Tajikistan: Worthless in every way but I put a colony here anyway :p
What? People need incentive to make such long term decisions. I mean, do you have a logo with a nifty hat? I didn't think so. ;p
I think he is talking about the terrorist strikes the Calor pull off. And to answer, you are stuck with that too.
Thanks again, this should be useful for a lot of people. :)
Slightly off topic, but something I had thought of from an earlier game with tech victory off. Shouldn't Final Frontier give you 3 or 4 bonuses in important statistics? I mean after all, the whole idea is that you just became a race of gods. Just something that bugged me. :D
Yeah, obviously later updates are going to improve existing techs, along with making new ones. Galactic Domination Theory for instance doesn't seem to have any value to it, even though it is the supreme evil tech.
Yes, what does trace or government do? Thanks a lot for the info!
First off, great job with your early work with modding GalCiv. I've already begun to use some of your ideas in my game, because they fit really well. You have made an impressive first start for the rest of us would-be modders to emulate. :) More than anything else, right now I think the game needs more UP issues and Events, with ship types, techs, improvements, and invasion tactics right behind. Before I offer my ideas, I'd just like to say I'm honestly not sure if some of the
Missiles in the game are used like they are in real life, cheap way to deliever powerful explosives a nice distance. It's not a reliable show of strength though, because they're one shot toys. If you get some bad luck they will all be used and the net damage you caused might not make up for the cost of the missiles.
I know the guys at Stardock are busy with tweaking with the small updates they constantly work at, I was just wondering if the normal downloadable patch is coming out soon? Sadly SDC just isn't an option for my dialup when it tries to get me to download 80-some MB patches on my dialup, all without a resume function. :( Anyway, just wondering if you had gotten around to getting one ready. Thanks!
What exactly is the Government(26) ability?
Agreed. I like it just how it is. If anything, I would lose the population cap for extremely high level planets.
Fantastic! I can't wait for a scenario builder. Thanks!
Sorry if this has been said, as I only read the first 10 pages. ;) Better tech tree. If a tech gives a new form of government or lets you talk to other civs, have it say that in the description or effects list. More events and UP choices, and don't listen to the people who say they need to be nerfed. I like how they can drastically change a game. :) Planetary bombardment!
I don't know if I like that. After all, this is about 200 years in the future. I'm sure we would have figured out ways to make population density less choking than it is for us now. Not to mention ways to increase the food supply with decreasing farmable land, and etc.
