Has anyone else noticed - Stardock games tend to release pretty quietly compared to other releases? I mean, these are pretty groundbreaking, AAA titles and I'm on gaming websites daily - I mean, all day lol, and Stardock titles barely get a mention. Offworld Trading Company, Ashes of the Singularity, even GalCiv III and its DLC. What's the deal with that? And more importantly, what can be done to get Star Control released with much fanfare and popular coverage? I want a
Quoting cuorebrave, reply 28 Awkbird and Lone_Utwig - I think what you're not really getting is the fact that Star Control 2 was an arcade-shooter. Its combat isn't going to be Elite:Dangerous or Star Citizen, or practically any other game out there. It's fun
Quoting Lone_Utwig, reply 22 What do you all (including devs) think about introducing some classic stuff like shield, armor, crew (health) scheme. Some ships might have more armor, others - shield, some might have none oe each and etc. +1. I have attempted to
Also, Hunam and I are the same person. :P Dude, how is it that crew dots are so important to both of us? Such a seemingly small thing!
It's bedtime, but I'll edit this post tomorrow with my thoughts. This update makes me all teary-eyed!
You've got 12 hours, or we riot! :P Come on! It's my favorite part of the whole month!
I guess I didn't necessarily assume water as in H2O, maybe some other form of liquid. But now that I see the gif, I probably did think it was water all those years ago... Maybe. Haha And, what a weird thing to put on the Star Control II cover! Really? They greenlit a depiction of their main badguy that looks LITERALLY nothing like the Urquan, to go on the cover!! Look at those eyes! You know, it may be just rumor, but I read somewhere that they bought

What about THIS guy!? Look at all those teeth! Who's HE compare to in the new game?! :P Also, did you really get "aquatic" from the ORZ? Maybe I'm insane, and maybe not remembering right, but I didn't think all that blue in their ship-screen was water! Set me straight, please. Either way, you're right, the alien design and d
We're not raking anyone over the coals. It's called criticism, and it's the reason for the founder's program's existence. This is a problem for me and many other people - including my daughter who randomly just said, after seeing the original YCTH alien, "Ooh! Baby shows!" and my son said, "Noo... That looks too cartoony."
The most interesting thing to me in the April update was the silhouette of the ship that is 3 pieces not connected together, there are so many different things that I could do with that I can't even begin to try and guess what they might be doing with that. There are a lot of really cool things that ship might do. I like the little alien as a concept, but he seems incomplete. Like a "flat" original series Star Tr
No, I know there's voice acting in SCR! I was saying I'd like to" keep it that way" regarding the voice acting in SCII! I've had 20 years to create the perfect voice for each one of my alien friends and foes alike, in my head.... I'm not entirely sure they could live up to my ima
First let me say yes, the artwork for those aliens is nice. But would any of those images fit in Star Control? Absolutely not. They lack character, are not fun, and are not whimsical, and do not bring out any strong emotions. I'm going to be very critical here for a moment, so I am by no means saying any of the games mentioned are bad titles. But would you recognize the difference between any of those aliens and the alien
Hmm... can we see the background animation for that "you can trust" guy. Maybe when we get a full picture and not just the animation of the alien it all shines in a different color? But I tend to agree... it is not about cartoony look (has anyone seen Mr Pickles? Rick and Morty? Duck Tales? Robotech? Those are all cartoons but their styles are so different )... it is about the alien being too childish. This is not Se
Stellaris has been really fun so far! I like the sheer variety of aliens and anomalies! Even the fungus creatures remind me of Star Control.
No, Kavik, I'm not saying that at all. Star Control II's graphics were NOT cartoony. That's the point. There's a difference between cartoony and stylized. Between cartoony and whimsical. That's the whole point of this thread. Stay AWAY from the kids' show looks and instead go for... I don't know? I can't think of a good example. The point is: NOT REALISTIC looking at all. But not Cartoonish, either. Someone help me out, please. Look
Hold up, Stardock. We're losing it a bit here with the "You can trust him" animation movie. You guys have to understand... When, in the past, you have said you're going for a cartoony look for the aliens, I think I've finally distinguished what I don't agree with about that statement. Star Control II WAS NOT CARTOONISH. It was, instead, WHIMSICAL in design. The newest animation just leans too far in the other direction - it looks like a cartoon. A c
