All this talk about tilted view giving you a better view of the "gravity wells" - what's that mean, anyway? I don't get it.
So, you were completely satisfied with this: I mean talk about unrealistic expectations... I couldn't agree more with custom, one of a kind planets/star systems, but you will get 98% of them RNG'ed. Let's be real here, bud. Besides, critters are all non-PG. How long do you think it'll take you to get tired of seeing the same kind? Also, you can't expect every planet to have stuff to do on either... Just like in
*Ahem*.... I think we ALL know who the red-headed step-child of the franchise is... And it's NOT SC1 lol!! Lastly, I feel like someone could mod in a conquest game play type. I'd play that, awkbird!
Never played SC1 - is that heresy? Is it worth a play? I thought it was only melee, right?
Volusanius is right. RonPimpster - the WHOLE REST of the entire game us still top down! This is just one subsection that had advanced with technology. Sure, I'd love the game to be completely hand-drawn again, but I don't think that's necessary. It makes sense when you think about it that the space portions are top-down pseudo-2d and the ROUND planets are 3d because... Well planets are actually round! It makes less sense to make a planet a flat plane... What are you,
The more of these, the better! If we find a taxidermied Talking Pet, my head's gonna explode?
I wanted to make this post to respond directly to the PDF we were provided this month, and all its juicy little tidbits of information! The Planet: I don't really think this is that controversial of a subject, is it? Is there anyone here who would say, "No, I prefer a flat, top down rectangle plane exploration aspect like in 1992? Years ago, I remember talking to Brad and Vaelzad about Mario Galaxy. The planets perfectly capture the spirit of bite-sized trips down to a pla
Sounds fun! Ill post from my work computer tomorrow :P
Hahaha! I know I'm a little long-winded :P but I swear it's a good read!
Reasonably active! Reasonably active! I love it! Let's do this!
Wow, hunam. You can't stop can you? I wasn't saying you should be grateful for the karma. I said I GAVE you those karma points because I enjoy your opinions. After the hot mess you've turned this post into, I've changed my mind. Everyone's allowed to change their mind. JUST like everyone is allowed to have their own opinion of a terrible, lie-ridden and pointless, soulless husk of a game. Like NMS.
Hunam, seriously. I obviously stepped into a very loaded conversation on accident. Bro, HALF the karma you even HAVE is from me because I always value your opinion and think you're a great voice on a lot of things. But this, though? This is a little too much. I posted on here just to say I felt like Sean was purposely deceitful in order to get as many front-loaded sales as possible and felt cheated about the soulless husk of a game I bought for a whole AAA $60. thats
Let's be honest. It's basically an inventory management game. Which is boring. Also, you're not much of an explorer if EVERY SINGLE PLANET YOU EVER COME ACROSS IS ALREADY INHABITED! RIGHT?!
I just asked for my NMS refund today. Even though I have 40 hours playing it. I just... I couldn't find the fun parts for me. I don't mind scouring mindlessly boring planet after mindlessly boring and meaningless planet.... AS LONG AS THERE'S SOME FORM OF PAY-OFF. Like in Diablo or Baldur's Gate. I don't mind getting 130 rusty long swords, plain as can be... as long as there's the PROMISE of getting one really kickass, talking sentient 2H sword, or a fire-breat
Oh! I wanna post too! Gotta start a post on my phone, in order to get my work computer to allow starcontrol.com off the forbidden pornography list.
You discover a species that somehow lures travelers to its planet and much like a spider web entraps explorers, essentially adding its biological matter to itself. Living for such a long time it has the memories of everything it has assimilated and is a vast resource for information/locations to anyone willing to donate biological, "crew" matter to its collective. Thus much like the Druuge creating a moral dilemma for the playe
I think you're on the right track here, Hunam. I think there's a place for better battery rechargers and high-capacity crew quarters. But no one will remember any of that. I feel like a broken record, but only because I don't think we ever get any confirmation, straight up: We need game-altering and strategy-altering upgrades to the ship. Not just better-this and better-that and better-pewpewpews. Unique. Wholly different. Strategy-changing. Game-changing. Flip you on your
I don't get it - what do you mean "discount"? When? How? Why don't I know about it?
In a different thread, Frogboy stated that we in the founder's program Changed the course of development for the game by convincing them that no one wants to see the Spathi ret conned out of the game entirely, hence the concept of The Multiverse (tm). What I want to know is - I think it would be extremely rewarding for us on the Founder's Program, to understand any other effects on development we've brought about! Help us take some ownership and pride in what's g
When you think of the dreaded Urquan - what comes to mind? Some sort of giant squid? Or maybe some type of beetle with claws? A reptile, maybe? I just came across my old, original Star Control II book from '92. And as I was reliving memories and leafing through the pages... I came across the description of the Urquan: "Physically, Ur-Quan resemble the predatory CATERPILLAR native to Earth's Hawaiian Islands, only grown to over 10 meters in length"?!?!
What's a DS?
I reply to the announcement of the update. I give opinions of each part in one post instead of posting 1 post in each thread someone decides to start. I want the devs to read my thoughts in one place instead of bouncing from thread to threat piecemeal. Like my old DS said KiSS (Keep it Simple Stupid).
Which thread? What am I missing?
100 is actually on the extreme low end of estimates about how many planets you'll land on. And if you're trying to send your ship down through rectangles for the 500th time, instead, you're going to be chewing off your own face. To which I say: if I don't care about where I land, can I just skip it and land anywhere? Make a button - kind of like an auto-calculate battle button in Total War, where you get to skip to the end, so I don't have to run the same rec
Wow. What a scary lookin vulva-like alien critter! Tongue lashing out like that? Terrifying! Anyone else see that? Or just me? Meh. I don't know about the landing. Seems kinda boring if we have to do that simple mini-game every time. Maybe they'll make it fun and interesting somehow? Otherwise, it just sounds stressful for no reason. And... I can't say that I cared much if my lander didn't land on the spot I wanted. Will the stakes somehow be higher this time
when you say die hard fans.. you're talking about me.. I have loved star control since it was a new thing.. And here's my 2 cents.. I am super happy with the enthusiasm the team seems to have.. I have noticed this ugly new trend in gaming lately that I wish more players would go up in arms about is all this "pre-order" and "dlc" and now even "pay-as-you-go" play like what you would have with the new Hitman game... These "terms" they
