Hunam, I think if you keep the planet name away from things like n00bsRweird or BodaciousTaTas and more along the lines of current stellar nomenclature (Eta Volantis or Alpha Orionis), you'll probably be fine. Maybe you should pass the names by us on here, and we'll *help* ;)

Yeah, I totally agree. I said in the post, " REALLY reminds me of Star Control - albeit a different play-style" It's a totally different play-style. There's no action or planetary exploration. Also, contact with aliens is limited. However: 1) You man an "ancient Precursor" ship, that has unfathomable technology. 2) You interact with aliens on a conversation screen, where they appear on screen and you choose responses. <span

Has anyone tried out Halcyon 6, the new hit on Steam? It's currently at the top of the Top Sellers chart and REALLY reminds me of Star Control - albeit a different play-style. You even man an "ancient precursor space station"! And the graphics and animation, especially for the conversations with aliens rocks! There's this one race where when you meet them... I can't, for the life of me remember (or find on the internet) the name of this race, but let's pretend their na

Haha, I think the folks here commenting on Venus were more entertaining ideas about erotic fan-fiction, than actually criticizing :P More comments from you, Vaelzad, we love hearing from you!

Vaelzad! I don't think anyone here is calling shenanigans or something. There's no hard feelings, and we're not trying to offend, or say it's looking terrible. I personally know, at least, that this is a rough draft! We're just GUIDING it as things pop up. We see something we like, we praise! We see something where it's veering away from what we think works, we criticize. ....... Isn't that what we're here for?

Lol, "skyscraper tall"? Bro, if you can see them from outer space, they're going to be A LOT taller than a skyscraper. Mt. Everest doesn't even deform the spherical shape of our planet. I can't even imagine how many miles high something would need to be to cause the shape of our planet to distort from a sphere!

But heat and radiation from the sun is considered important in the creation of life, as long as it's not too much and the planet has a formed atmosphere to filter out more harmful, toxic radiation. That being said, if we can find life that has evolved to consume arsenic, then any planet is fair game as long as there's that spark to start life.

.......... what??? The point I think I pulled out of there is that the System name will hopefully be like in SCII - Alpha/Beta/Eta/Gamma Chandrasekhar and by definition, the planets will be named Alpha Chandrasekhar I, Alpha Chandrasekhar II, Alpha Chandrasekhar IIa (a moon), etc. But if you DISCOVER AN ALIEN THERE, they'll begin to call the planet Grogn'ooq, because it's a homeworld. ....... I think.

^ EXACTLY. Like unwrapping a gift-planet. I love the goofy features too, like I said: " As your lander burns down to the planet surface, let those features grow into the mix and create the beautiful, exaggerated worlds in the concept shots!" They look wonderful ONCE YOU'RE ON THE PLANET. Mmmm... A planet that's ACTUALLY clockwork style, like Game of Thrones! Oh the mysteries it will hold!!!!!

You know what's most upsetting, I think, about the planetary features being visible from orbit? The planets, actually, in the original SCII were probably the MOST realistic looking part of the entire game. The aliens were goofy (but serious), the ships were goofy (but serious), even the starbase was goofy (but realistic and serious looking).... the planets themselves, though? 100% serious, and done to the best of the technical ability of that time to look as realistic as possible.

It would also be hilarious if we all submitted the SCII alien names as planets, just to get them IN THE GAME - I call Melnorme!!!!!!

Lol, Hunam_, you're so patronizing, "Did you even READ those texts"?? Yes, I READ them, punk! Haha! I'm actually, shockingly, a very well-read, intelligent person who loves to "relax and read" and who also loves a good walking simulator game (and who also did as much research as I could on NMS before buying). Dear Esther? The Vanishing of Ethan Carter? Gone Home? Everyone's Gone to the Rapture? NMS just isn't one of those GOOD games. But you're completely rig

Yes, this is one of the biggest decisions of our lives. My baby is born right around the cutoff date, so I'm thinking of naming the planet after her! "Clementine" But also, my favorite Sci-Fi books are the Three Body Problem, has anyone read it?! Tri-Solaris would be an awesome name for a world. Also, my unique handle that literally no one has on earth, Cuorebrave which is actually a funny story. I used Google Translate back in the days when it was terrible (it&#39

OMG! NO! I will not let another thread be derailed by back-and-forth arguing over No Man's Sky AGAIN! I can't explain my hatred for NMS trashscapes. But I think it has to do with the fact that no matter WHAT planet you land on - no matter HOW MANY planets you land on - no matter how many hours you put into landing on Computer-made crap planets in that game - you will NEVER find anything cool. I think that's it. It's like - in Terraria? That's computer made,

I still don't get what the big deal is?? Why is it all of a sudden so necessary to physically see gravity wells??? Where did that even come from? Half the fun and thrilling part was getting sucked into a planet unexpectedly! Who cares about gravity wells being visible? Is this even a talking-point right now?! It's like if all of a sudden, everyone was up in arms because you couldn't click on the rolling door in the back of the Tywom conversation screen to make it roll closed and o

Anyone know if they're going to put the number of the planet or moon designation at the end? Like, if I put my planet name as "Smorgasbord"... would it then be Smorgasbord II if it was the second planet in the system?
