How are everyone's games going? Personally, I'm finding it a bit of a tough slog. The combination of a lot more planets, a lot more opponents and slow research gunks things up a bit. It is a nice change of pace from the other rounds I've been in though :).

I havent had much of a chance put time into it yet. Busy with moving, other non-pc gaming, and work. I played maybe 20 turns of a game so far.

hard. with the slow techtree a 9 enimes trying to get a mililtary vic in less then a year is going to be incane.if any one can get a YZW i will... i will do somthing but i dont know what.

if any one can get a YZW i will

There haven't been any submissions yet so it's tough to tell but I do believe a ZYW is pretty much out of the picture. Nine opponents by itself is probably enough to prohibit a ZYW let alone the slow tech rate.

Speaking from the position of one of the ZYW record-holders, I tend to agree. As well as the tech-speed and 9 opponents, the abundant habitable planets make this pretty much impossible. The AI will have too many opportunities to colonize more planets.

Doesnt mean I wont give it a try though. I'm 99% certain it is not possible, but I'll see how close i can get. ;)

I'm going for 1 year myself. Looks pretty good so far, but may be a close shave. Fun in any case. :)

I too must agree, and also state that if i don't get a ZYW it won't be for lack of trying.

I believe an Altarian/Spore ARC might have done it though.

I'm going to be offline for a while, starting next week -- not sure for how long. So I'm submitting my game now, for fear that I might miss the deadline. The score isn't fantastic, but it is my first Masochistic game win, so I'm pretty happy with it (I do have a suicidal tech victory but that doesn't really count IMHO).

Great game! How many game years btw?
6 years.

I've always thought that the gradual improvement to everyone's game is the primary benefit of the league. You can see evidence of this in many different ways. Moving up in difficulty is one of the more obvious indications of this improvement and also one of the most rewarding. Congratulations.  :CONGRAT:

Thanks, everyone.

I was helped by the class 26 planet right beside Earth, which shared a system with an 11, 10, and 6. I lease-bought some colony ships, and only just managed to colonize all but the 6-cap, which I left for the greedy Altarians, who were all over the place by that point -- Altaria was about 8 moves away from Earth, the closest I've ever seen two starting capitals.

The other thing that really helped me was the Terran's Super Diplomacy, which I'm almost convinced is broken at this point. I mean, why bother colonizing planets when you can just buy them from the AI for less than the cost of a colonizer? I swear I must have bought about 20-30 planets over the course of the game, for about 1000 BCs on average (not hard to raise when those newly-bought planets each become econ planets).

This was the toughest game I've played yet. I jumped from 'Normal' straight to 'Tough'. I played my first Tough game versus only one opponent. This scenario was very tough.

Thanks to the Eternal Villany for their tips!!

The score was bad but I'm glad I won out!

As scorekeeper, Kzinti should probably chime in here, but since you bring up the topic I thought it might be useful to remind folks what information is essential to post in your submission.

Basically the point is to not require the scorekeeper to have to go searching for any information and to have everything listed that would be required to easily verify the submission if someone were so inclined.

Obviously game years and score are required. Also the character name and timestamp are neccessary to uniquely specifiy the submitted game. Finally which team you are on is very helpful so that the scorekeeper doesn't have to look that up elsewhere.

Generally extra information doesn't hurt and it's certainly better to have too much information rather than too little, but Difficulty, Game Version, Race and Alignment are not really necessary, at least for round scoring purposes.

Basically if you post a screenshot that includes your character name the only information that needs to be added is your team.

Again KP, as official scorekeeper, should correct me if I left anything out or otherwise misspoke.
