Solo rebuild of my old browser strategy game: what would you want from one today?
Hi all,
Back in 2012 I made a browser strategy game called Legend of Gods in Flash. Flash died and took it with it, so I've spent a long time rebuilding it: recovering the old code, rewriting every screen, replacing the server, and getting the world to keep running while nobody is online.
It's a medieval fantasy game where you grow a town, take a hero and army into turn-based fights, and trade with other players. I've played it so much that I can't judge it any more, and I'd value the opinion of people who really know strategy games:
- What would you want from a browser strategy game today, and what puts you off?
- Does a classic look with a detailed town still appeal to you, or would you change it?
- How would you go about finding honest testers?
If anyone is curious and wants to try it, it's easy to find by searching the name. I'll leave the link out, as this is about the advice rather than an advert.
Thanks for any thoughts.
