Your Stardock.net account is used here by the forums, in Stardock Central, on other Stardock sites, and also to manage your Metaverse characters.  "One account to rule them all."

Your account can have up to THREE characters tied to it.  Most people will have only 1 but this way, if you have multiple people in your family playing the game (my son plays for instance) they can use a character. 

If you've already pre-loaded, you should be able to go to the Metaverse and Manager Characters.  You will need your serial # to create another character.

If you have any problems, let us know.

If you are getting a serial mismatch error when trying to post metaverse scores, contact [email protected].

Ok heres my problem. I purchased the box version of Galactic Civilization 2 Gold Edition which contains both Dread Lords and Dark Avatar. I tried to add a character for the metaverse and the screen prompted that I had an invalid serial number and then went to the "Processing Data" screen forever. After I tried to put the code in different formats such as capping the letters and using hyphens it sent me to the collectors edition screen and still said I had an invalid serial number. Please someone help. I've sent this issue to the support team about 4 days ago and I didn't get a reply. I did so again today, but if anyone in here can help I would greatly appreciate it. Oh by the way Galactic Civilizations 2 is the whip I love this game.

You should have at least received an automated reply acknowledging your mail. If you didn't, you may need to check your spam blocking settings.

Please note that support doesn't work weekends (four days ago would have been Saturday), and sending additional messages will actually delay any response you may get (as the ticket list is sorted from least recent activity to the latest).

I did get the automated response, but it wasn't helpful it had a couple of links that were no help in putting my serial number in. I already sent the message earlier, and I hope I didn't sabotage myself. In fact I didn't even get an automated response to that one. So do you have any suggestions.

That most likely means your second mail was appended to your first, rather than opening a second ticket.

So do you have any suggestions.


If the metaverse is not creating characters with Gold serials, you will need support and/or the web team to look at it, so I cannot offer you much but to allow support a chance to get to your ticket and address it.

I'm having the same problem, I purchased a copy of the Gold Edition from a retailer about 3 hours ago, finished installing it about 1 hour ago and have been trying to figure out how to create a character ever since. When I try to Add Character, I get the same error as previous posters have listed, something about invalid serial number and the Processing... screen is frozen. I've tried this with Internet Explorer and Firefox and it is exactly the same. Strangely enough, I was able to create an Empire with the same serial number.

I already email Andrew, as he said to email him problems earlier in this sticky, but I wanted to add my post here to let you guys know that more than one person is definitely having the same problem.

I just started my first metaverse game using the DA 1.6 beta 1 and I started the game as pure evil. I started a few other games and the same thing happened. I use a custom race and even in the default description, it says "The evil (custom race name)...". Is this normal?

Yeah, I guess I didn't explain well enough. When I started the game with my custom race, it automatically starts me at the far right of the ethics spectrum, being pure evil. I would have thought you would start out as neutral. I wasn't sure if this is normal on metaverse since it's my first game. I've tried starting new games with my custom race but they always start the game with the ethics mark at the far right. Even my robot that does the tech news is evil. Thanks for the help. Hope I described it well enough.

If you've customized the custom race in the past (for an AI or otherwise), did you change the alignment then? Customs normally default to 50 (Neutral). You may try clearing customizations in the galaxy creation screen, and failing that, delete the Custom Race.customracexml file in My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar.

The first time i installed galciv2 the game run the i desinstaled because i need more space. And now when i installed it againg and try to star the game,the game goes in a blank window and a error message appears saying that the memory could not be written and read

Try updating the game to the latest version via Stardock Central. You also need to have your desktop set to 32bit color to run the game.

Hello there!

I just wanted to register a Dark Avatar game at the GalCiv2 Metaverse, but I got error message #12: Invalid serial number. I believe this is due to some mess that occured when I changed my e-mail adress and got a new serial number for my games some months ago.
I would very much like to register games at the Metaverse, can You help me?

I set up a Metaverse game under 1.6 but when I finished it, there was no option to submit it to the Metaverse.
No error message, just no question " Do you want to submit it to the metaverse? "

Anyway of getting this game submitted ?

Hrm, whenever I try to sumbit a game to the metaverse it says that the Serial Keys do not match. So, I created another character and made sure I typed it in correctly. And I got the same thing. So finally I tried to use the update Serial # option and typed in the Serial # again to make sure, and alas, I get the SAME error. What's wrong?

I recall some people with similar issues had this happen simply due to not having the GC2 serial properly registered in SDC (now WHY that would be the case, I have no idea...). If that's not your case, then you should contact [email protected].

Just go look at it in the tools menu->register dialog and see if it shows the GC2 serial.
