STICKY: Metaverse Help!

Let us know what we can do to help you here!

Your Stardock.net account is used here by the forums, in Stardock Central, on other Stardock sites, and also to manage your Metaverse characters.  "One account to rule them all."

Your account can have up to THREE characters tied to it.  Most people will have only 1 but this way, if you have multiple people in your family playing the game (my son plays for instance) they can use a character.

If you've already pre-loaded, you should be able to go to the Metaverse and Manager Characters.  You will need your serial # to create another character.

If you have any problems, let us know.

Hi... I get a continuous "processing data" screen using IE or Firefox 3.5  Can't get past it.

Cheers

What are you trying to do when that happens?

Hi there.

I have a bit of a Metaverse/Website problem here.

I registered the empire "Gold Wing" - worked

I joined up one of my characters - worked

I tried to upload the empire logo (128x128, JPG) - FAIL

On the webpage, the Edit Empire and Invite Player buttons work fine. Entering the path to the logo as well as "search" works, too. Only Upload Logo is inactive.

The correct local path is in the input window but the button produced no reaction. I should at least see the transmission lights flicker on the router but there is no reaction whatsoever.

I also tried entering an URL to the file on a webserver but no go, either. It is not possible to upload a logo.

I tried both MSIE 7 and Firefox 2.0.0.2.

The image I tried to upload is:

Tried the same again about 1 day later - same result.

For both browsers the Upload Logo button does not respond.

Uploading empire logos should be fine now.  Please try again.  If it fails again, do a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5) and try once more, then let me know if it doesn't work.

Yes, now it works fine.

But I found another issue, although that one is merely an incomplete description.

For a metaverse character logo I was told it had to be a 128 x 128 (max) JPG or PNG.

I used exactly that and it did not work.

The upload script hung up at the "processing" window.

I found that it only works if you upload an RGB JPG...

How am I supposed to guess that?

Hello,

I tried to create new metaverse character, but I'm not able to do it in any browser I try :( It does not work for me in Opera, IE8 or FF 3.0.16. Every time I get just "Processing data..." message.

I looked at the Error Console in Firefox and after trying to add the character, there is this message:

Error: Data.AddButton is null
Source File: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/js/managechars.js
Line: 408

I'm using Windows XP.

Please help me.

thank you

Hi all.

Got some problem here with using a custom race @ the MV in TA. Pop-up tells me that my raceconfig is invalid, and that I should go back and clear that character and re-edit it.

Well, that character is made in-gamed (no ARC), and after re-editing that pop-up still shows.

I´ve deleted all raceconfig-files related to that race, and started from scratch, but didn´t help either.

In DL/ DA don´t have these problems....

EDIT: The game won´t let me pick the "Collective Research" tech from the Yor techtree. Why is this? I have enough points for that.

Trying to create a character at this page: http://metaverse.galciv2.com/index.aspx?g=managecharacters

Enter info, press "Add Character" button.  "Processing Data..." dialogue box appears, nothing happens.

Being a programmer, I took a look at the "managechars" javascript file, perhaps this gem of a comment has something to do with the trouble, ;)

"//This is a hack and I should really do this better. But I'm tired. So poo on you."

^^^Wake the jackass up who left this comment to fix it please.

When attempting to upload a character logo the "Processing Data..." box appears and nothing happens.  Debugging reports the following error: "EditButton is null or not an object" on line 383 of managechars.js

I am having the same problem, which seems as though it's being ignored or overlooked.  Hopefully the holidays being over will rectify this issue.

As noted a few days ago on another thread about the character creation issues, it's on Pat's list to investigate.

I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I keep getting an error when I try to upload my Metaverse score:

"Your serial number does not match that of the metaverse server"

It's been a long time since I've uploaded a game, but I have never seen this before. It's a Twilight game, and it's the latest version. Any ideas? I'm afraid to start a new one in case I have the same issue again. Thanks!

Nevermind, I figured it out. I realized that I had finished the game on a different computer than the one I started it on. I copied my savegames back to the original computer, loaded up the EndGameSave, and it then uploaded just fine.

Hi,

I'm new to the forum so sorry if I'm posting in the wrong place.  I am not able to create a metaverse character due to getting an error about my serial number.  How can I contact support about this or is there a troubleshooting guide somewhere explaining why my code is not working?
I tried entering the code with both the hyphens (-) and without.

Thanks for any help!

Cheers,
PoM
