I've been able to mod in to the game a rotating strut piece that makes the rotating rings in-game look a bit more sensible. Here's a video of it in action on the Flagship: https://streamable.com/ymavf And the Terran Cruiser: https://streamable.com/98mg4 Now I don't just mean make the parts available for use, though that would also be nice, but for Stardock to add this par
No (more) classic aliens (for now). I actually quite like the lore reasoning for not including them - too early and too close to home. So it makes sense to encounter the Arilou, and I guess the Melnorme can be fine as well, but I'd rather keep the rest of them for a later stage. At most have a just few of them in minor cameos as refugees from far away.
Second. I would rather Origins focus on O
For me it's the specific gameplay that SCII/UQM/Starflight introduced 1) Space exploration 2) Planet scanning 3) Planet landing 4) Conversation trees 5) Ship to ship combat Without any of that you just don't have basic elements for Star Control. Addendum: 6) Ripping off Starfleet Battles ________________________________________________________________________________ [quote who="Frogboy" re

Now me and Ashog can destroy each other without having to break the Workshop!
Going to be making myself a Metal \m/ planet!
All of these new discussions make me realize another disadvantage of Discord over using forums. When potential customers come to the forums to take a look at what is going on, if everyone is using Discord then the forums look dead. Like nobody cares about the game. I know that the social media generation likes Discord better than forums, but I really see a lot of reasons for forums being better. I've mentioned some
How about: 18. Storage Module (Small, Medium, Large) Possible name: Quantum Drive Mass Storage Subsystem It converts mass digitally and stores the data on a large RAID array of quantum drives. Cuore held me at gunpoint and told me to put this here.
This is a collection of things that I believe would improve the enjoyment of the ship creation process. Being able to flip parts before placing them As an extension of Number 1: Being able to switch which hardpoint you'd like the part to be placed as. (One example is that there's a wing in the part list where its hardpoint is exactly the opposite of the logical placement) <a href="https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/387628517304696842/41587567
But did you test the environment I showed you that simulates a free-for-all Star Control Melee? Subspace and DOTA are two very different beasts than Star Control's Melee.
Perhaps we should get something clarified from the head honcho - can, or more pertinently should the intro include UQM aliens?
That's what I'm trying to figure out. If it's an intro for Star Control the franchise or Star Control the space program in-game.
Quick question Brad: Is this intro for Star Control as a franchise or the in-game organization the Star Control program?
Awesome sauce, everything is back up!
This still leaves the question of how to properly deal with planetary life forms without resorting to tired sci-fi tropes or cloning the Melnorme mechanics. And dear god I wouldn't want the research to be anything like 4x. I would want something similar to Kessari Quadrant where you plop an artifact into a research base and it spits out ship upgrades.
Yep, they're gone. Bummer.
Jesus Christ. That's not what I'm asking for and nobody can fricken' see it. Big edit because I was on 24 hours no sleep there and couldn't elaborate. Not how awesome and technologically advanced humans are. I'm not saying that we focus on the humans at all. I'm saying that anything that has to do with the ship goes through the humans first because they're the ones who built it. That and humans should at least have the option f
meaning 'xeno research' is not a well founded capability.
When has the capability ever stopped Human curiosity? It seems like I'm going to have to defend my ideas to the death. You guys keep pushing for a Melnorme allegory when there doesn't need to be one. Humans aren't underneath a slave shield this time around, they can be utilized more than just as a pit stop. Which now they won't be because of the Precursor Sta
I'm not proposing you turn the data over to the Precursor Starbases. I'm proposing an alternative to having to find a supergiant just to get to a black market information hub. You take the credits you earn from tagging life forms (Or possibly other forms of gathering credits) and research the technology you currently have to upgrade it. Be it lander tech, ship tech, or weapon tech. Alien or otherwise. You wouldn't be creating new tech with your research, only improving o
I'm 80% happy with Brad's direction; my one disappointment is that fleet battles are limited to 1-on-1 battles. Though I understand that the primary difficulty is a suitable AI, personally I'd have liked to see "we'll release with 1-on-1 as primary play mode, but are expanding on that post-release"
I want you to try something and tell me how it works out. Really happy to hear about the SC:KQ source being prepared. What is all going into the preparation? Your staff going to do like P&F did and have one guy make sure it builds in Windows then throw it at Sourceforge (or Github)? What about the art and assets, as it sits now they are hiding behind some awkward compression that nobody has been able to figure out. Maybe that will be up to us to figure out using the source. And how will it mesh with the company having
This is a very interesting idea for Star Control. I like the concept a lot, but they should be completely different rewards for tagging for purposes of research and killing and taking the bodies. Obviously, tagging would give pure knowledge and no resource. Killing would then have to give resource and no knowledge. I know it is logical that killing might, not necessarily should, but might also give knowledge, but thi
Copied my discussion verbatim from Discord: I'd prefer a secondary weapon that is more akin to a tranquilizer, tracker, or scanner Basically a bag & tag system You tag the animal, research it, gain credits. You can't bag & tag the same animal Or you can choose to kill it and loot its corpse The FarCry method of dealing with animals ____ To reiterate, you wouldn't take the animal with you, you'd t
It's not sitting on top of it, the orbit ring is just too faint against the Moon's albedo. Maybe this is a good time to suggest the colored ring setup like SC:UQM has? Green for habitable, blue for cold, red for hot, and a spectrum in between those colors for mixed variances. Or find a color that doesn't clash objects in orbit. Also, the purple is starting to really wear out its welcome.
Oh snap! Thanks for replying and that's great news!
