Wha-... You-... Are you mad?! Did we even play the same game? Are you talking about Star Control II???
I am. Setting the story aside, there isn't much to do in the actual game. Compare it to a more modern system-based RPG. SC2 had no inventory, no crafting. no skill trees, and only one end-form for the main ship. That's what the game would need in order for it to be worth $59 now. I'm not ask

We will definitely say when something is final, so please remember you are seeing things as they are getting developed along the way.
Sure, sure... But can you please address the 30fps concern that I had?

Mukay look good, but I have a concern... The video was recorded at 30fps. Please tell me you aren't locking the game at 30fps and that the Aliens move smoothly in 60+fps glory. Side question... The Mukay's background is similar to the concept drawing. Is the background still the concept art? Will it become more realistic / less artistic in the final game? I liked the lander pictures, as well. They help explain the pl
Yup. Don't worry, we'll have this conversation again. And again. And probably again, but maybe not a xth time. (Totally on the zth time, though.)
Ha, maybe not with me. I try not to rehash stuff unless I have something new to bring to the table. I'd rather have people reference my collected body of work.
I never said killing was what made a game a game, that's ignorant and asinine. There's plenty of GAMES that involve no action, that hold the same value of consequences that I hold dear. However, Telltale stories are no more games than "The Mountain" was a game. Playing games that aren't mainstream, you'll find actual non-combat games all over the place. Decent ones too. And a lot of these have $5-$15 pricetags. [
It's not believable if there's no way to fail. The entire point of games is to teach us how to deal with consequences in the real world. In the real world, consequences have real weight. Sorry if you can't deal with that. People die, mistakes are made. Just because you won in a way that satisfied you does not mean there's a happy ending.
That may be why games were initially created, b
It just seems whiny to me to complain just because you lost. 40+ is so light. Completion isn't as important as substance within completion. Substance > all else. And losing is part of that formula, or you're better off not gaming at all.
This is why I think you are actually in the minority when it comes to losing. (And that's okay for you to think that.) Most PCMRs don't have your dil

And I mean people who actively spend significant amounts of money to play games on PCs, not people who happen to play games on a PC, that distinction is important.
So you feel that the majority of the PCMR choose to replay a beaten game to tease out a new ending instead of playing a stockpiled Steam game?
But they are making a game. Pretty much all high-budget games are made to appeal to the widest audience possible. Many games fail financially, few go into it willing to make something they think will only appeal to a small segment of gamers. The need to appeal to the casual gamer, mass market audience is an overriding factor in most game design decisions. I would love a space exploration game that was like a submari
Majority Fallacy: "That the largest m arket segment is the most lucrative is a mistaken belief leading to this type of strategic error. Due to intense rivalry among a large number of competitors it may be the least profitable one in reality." Take majority out of the discussion.
Yup, several times, actually. I've replayed Fallout several times despite "losing". Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Day of the tentacle. Even the original X-Com could be loosely included, and even the "winning" ending was pretty bleak. I'd also highly recommend playing Undertale, because that game is like 90% losing, with 2 or 3 positive endings. Granted, Undertale is intended to be played multiple times because of how the world "remember
Why do you think the narrative needs to be tailored to any resolution at all?.... Absolutely not. The story should flow in a natural order of things (things that you affect, tailoring the story to your "unique" ending).
I think you misunderstood me. I'm not asking them to tailor the narrative. I'm saying that I don't think they can give us a satisfying tragedy *within the structure of the non-linear, b
Seven Pounds has soul crushing ending, but that just makes the movie sooooooo dam good. Actually, the ending alone makes that movie.
(I have not seen it, so please don't spoil it.) Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1 had a fantastic ending as well, and it was a tragedy. But you see? That validates my point. These have a satisfying ending that fits with the narrative of the story.

This is an adventure / role-playing game. This is a story. Endings color our enjoyment of the story. Consider the movie "No Country for Old Men". It was a great movie ruined by a horrible ending. When I think of the movie, I always remember how disappointed I was when

They probably won't make it in. The reason why even the SC1 ships from dead or evolved races made it into SC2 was that the artwork and mechanics already existed. SC2 leveraged from SC1. With SCR, there is no existing artwork to leverage. The ships would have to be created from scratch. Should they create these old ships, or should they spend the their resources creating new ones? Allegedly, the modding tools will be good enough for us to retrofit the ships in. I suspect that a mod

I read this and chuckled... http://www.wired.com/2016/01/oculus-rift-price/ VR is not a problem of making it “work.” VR is a problem of making it perfect , because anything less than perfect equals “OK, cool, now get this thing off my head.”

Having the game laid out in a wiki diminishes the work the developer did by handing out the answers to the game and removing the point of the game. Why play the game if your going to get screenies and walthroughs for it? That completely takes the fun our of the game. I'm no stranger to Acoustic Couplers and low baud modems.
