CH Products are still in business, and they still sell the Flightstick Pro. Legendary stick.
IBNobody
Named mine after my newborn boy. Samuels Rest.
But that is a good name. It took some thought. It took some spellchecking, too, which we all appreciate. I wish they'd allow punctuation, though. "SAMUEL'S REST" would look much better.
Squeak Squeak Squeak. I know you are reading this. }:> But seriously... Consider this. Are you using game servers for matchmaking and lobbies? What happens when interest wanes and the servers shut down? What happens to multiplayer? Will we be left destitute without anybody to play with? What is Stardock's long-term multiplayer plan? And why can't that include couch combat?
"TOM WAS HERE" needs to be a gas giant. I don't want to even consider landing on it.
The squeaky wheel usually gets replaced because it's breaking down. [e digicons]:)[/e]
And yet, the squeaky wheel is the only one getting a dev response in this thread... Hmm... Squeak Squeak Squeak? While you're here, please tell us why local, single-screen multiplayer was dropped (or was never included) as a release feature.
Thank you for this shaming thread. 08matias11tuomas is the #1 worst name ever. (P.S. It's spelled Thomas.) If I ever catch Tom, I'll make sure he stays on his damn planet. PeePaws? PEEPAWS? PEE PAWS?!? Gonna have to shame RonPimpster (RonEmpire) and SavageMind1 (SavageOne) too... Seriously guys? iiO Prime? More like typO Prime. "Morf
Yes, IBNobody - we're alllll in agreement on that by now, lol. Anything else to add?!
The squeaky wheel gets the oil. You can be sure that I am readying my full assault once the SuperMelee demo hits and I have the basis to show that the game is not complete without having a buddy share the same screen.
Leaving out local multiplayer. :P
I think there's a fundamental limit as to what they can share at this stage. Probably because lots of stuff is changing and such. they dont want to say "we are owrking on X" then suddenly say "uh yeah that was a totally bad idea we can't do it" kind of thing
They can prefix it all with "this might change" and still share it with us.
This is how forums operate, Awkbird. I'm with CB on this. More frequent updates and less frequent non-answers (ala local MP) would be nice. (Though, it would give us more to debate about.)
Did you see someone submitted 404 as a planet name? I was hoping for an "ERROR NOT FOUND" planet, but 404 will do. Once October 14 rolls around, we need to do another post that shames the worst names.
That said, they've got a hell of a job prioritizing what makes it into the initial release. I'd be pretty relaxed about local multiplayer being added down the track if it means the initial single player game is better for it.
If that's the case, then why put internet multiplayer above the single player experience?
I believe it is Dec 20th. If you google when does Fall end in 2016. It will tell you Dec. 20th
What tech job does any work in December? Everybody is OOO half the month due to vacation carryover limits.
I would never ever do that. Brad has made mistakes, but he owned them. And as for getting along... Well... I'm a frenemy with everybody. But you'll see that I am more useful than the average argumentative troll once we start getting code to try out. I am a master of finding bugs/exploits. Better at that than I am at playing, tbh.
If 08matias11tuomas is visible on the starmap, FML. :P
Is it too late to resubmit my name as "ASDKLJFLASDJFA"?
^ So you're treating this rarely used thread as a direct conduit to the gods? :P
"Tom was here" got approved... FML.
Tom named a planet. This is proof that this game has multiplayer. (NMS sarcasm)
Woah, buddy. Just because we're founders doesn't give us any kind of actual creative control. We can influence, but we don't need to wax hyperbolic.
Sorry... You're right. I'm just frustrated with the non-answer and worried about not being able to have the same level of multiplayer fun that I had with SC1 and SC2.
All I get is a Login screen, then when I login it is just a Logout button. Nothing else comes up.
You have to be a Star Control Lifetime Founder. :P j/k. Try a different browser?
(If you are coming in late for the joke... https://forums.starcontrol.com/479531/get;3649965 reply #46)
There hasn't been a debate about local multiplayer. There can't be. We apparently have no basis to have any meaningful discussion because we haven't played SCO's internet multiplayer. All of that experience we've collected over the past 20+ years means little because we do not have any context. Meanwhile, Andrew and co are painting themselves into their own little internet multiplayer corner with grids and cameras and anti-top-down pro-isometric rhetoric.</
You should name the planet what you would name it regardless of convention. I can promise you that we are doing more than just a couple of systems with all the player planets. Hence one of the reasons we are asking for the names at this point in development. [e digicons]:)[/e]
"ZOQ LIVES MATTER" it is, then.
^ Wouldn't that break immersion even more if you stumble upon a system(s) with all the founder's names?.. Who'd even like that?
I've seen this done both ways, and I've seen it done both ways in the same game. Pillars of Eternity had awful player-made NPCs sprinkled around towns that you could soul gaze at and get a player-written backstory. (One had a rape scene, IIRC.) It broke immersion badly
So, the stellar naming convention isn't finalized and we are asked to submit our names. Why? This is kinda a big deal to me.
Because they don't want to tell you that they are sticking all the named planets in a few solar systems to keep the immersion levels from breaking too much. It's like being able to name a mystery plot of land. If they told you the truth that it was right outside Cherno
