The minor races do have supercharged economies. This allows them to purchase a lot of goods early, but it also allows you to bend them over later in games. Short on cash, sell them some techs or trade goods for 5K/turn for 20 turns. Really strapped, sell them a crappy star system for 20K/turn for 20 turns. Really Really strapped (but with a decent military), declare war for a few turns, then offer them peace for 100k/turn for 20 turns (you read that right). They are like little banks! <

Sooth, once the new ship hits the star system, you can move the mouse over each planet in that system (similar to when you colonized the first planet). Put the cursor over the planet you wish to colonize (note the blue outlines on either side of teh planets as you mouse over), and then click. If you click on the already colonized planet, you will add the contents of the Colony Ship to that planet. -Dave ~SDC~
Sorry, I should a little more careful with word choice: Re-REGISTER your player on that screen. Then re-SUBMIT your score to the Metavers. -Dave ~SDC~
I mean re-submit your Nickname and Serial # on http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. Re-submitting seemed to eventually fix my problem (although it may have just been a coincidence). Worth a try though! -Dave ~SDC~
I really see this as two issues: 1. What to do with empty build queues 2. Planetary Spending Sliders My ideas: 1. Empty Queues - Similar to what Thraq suggested, but with some gameplay elements thrown in. How about a tech (or even a trade good :)) that provides the option to divert funding into different areas. There could be multiple techs/goods that give you different options. For example, researching something like Advanced Interstellar Banking would g
How is the score in the metaverse calculated? I assume it is not just a tally of your total points. Sorry if this is posted somewhere, but its late and I'm lazy :p -Dave ~SDC~
The Belua is the space shark. Pirates show up occasionally and attack freighter and starbases. -Dave ~SDC~
I figured, but always worth asking. GL! -Dave ~SDC~
SgtLoric, have you looked at the other threads on this matter and tried the fixes suggested there? Most notably, Brad's ongoing Galciv update thread. -Dave ~SDC~
There is no submission verification. If it is working correctly, however, your score should appear almost immediately. Consider the following: Have you quit and then re-started GalCiv since you updated the .dll? Have you tried re-registering your player AFTER updating the .dll? Try quitting and restarting GalCiv more than once, or even rebooting (this probably does nothing, but seemed to be what I did when the Metaverse FINALLY worked for me ;)) Try reading "Brad's On
Did you disable all of the other conditions? -Dave ~SDC~
What happens when you submit? -Dave ~SDC~
I avoid 14 class planets unless I have Planet Quality Upgrades (as a racial bonus). These can work in the long-term, but will drag you morale down and not produce much early in the game. Some times they are useful for strategic purposes (increase range, etc.) -Dave ~SDC~
Go to http://www.stardock.com/support.asp and enter your e-mail. You will sent a message with a link to the full installer. Obviously you must enter the e-mail you used to purchase the game. -Dave ~SDC~
Also, make sure you have visited http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp and registered your player with the Metaverse BEFORE you submit. -Dave ~SDC~
Please see the thread near the top of the forum titles "Brad's ongoing GalCiv update thread" The first post has a new .dll that you will download and place in your GalCiv Data directory. -Dave ~SDC~
To build transports you need Impulse Drive, http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/40.htm. Later on, you need Battleship Technology to build combat transports (higher defense, can hold more troops) http://webpages.charter.net/trevorpowdrell/13.htm. -Dave ~SDC~
That last one is an SDCentral logo, that says that I am posting throught he Discussion are of StarDock Central. -Dave ~SDC~
Warp, the same thing happened to me. In fact, while I was playing out the end, all of the AI worlds defected, adn I ended winning a military victory 5turns ahead of my cultural victory. My score ended up being higher because of it. That's somewhat of a silver lining, but it was a little annoying. Cari mentioned that she is looking into it to see if it can be fixed (though it may not be possible). -Dave ~SDC~
This fails for me when I try to unrar it as well. Please re-submit or stardock: check and re-post file. -Dave ~SDC~
Everyone interest in this, please see the thread, "Brad's ongoing GalCiv update thread". Most of it deals with this issue. You will need to download the new .dll, and possibly re-register your player with the metaverse (http://www.galciv.com/playerreg.asp). -Dave ~SDC~
This is because of the complex algorithm that generates the influence. It takes a few turns to gather the necessary data to generate Influence. Keep in mind that this should affect all of the players (view the Influence graph to see this). After a few turns, it will back to where it was when you saved. -Dave ~SDC~
Please see some of the threads in the GalCiv forum. There have been many answers to this query. The most likely is that your population is getting too high, or that you are being destabilized by another race. -Dave ~SDC~
Sorry, I was hitting the back button on my browser (very stupid of me). Yeah, I see the metaverse/highscores.asp now instead of metaverse/index.asp. Good catch Popup. -Dave ~SDC~
The UI will change based on your alignment. The different morale choices you make will affect your alignment. If you turn evil, the UI will shift to Red, and if you are good it will shift to White. Your Reporting Robot will also change, which is pretty cool. -Dave ~SDC~
