I think what's also important to note is that it should be fairly obvious that they don't intend to release the trailer in its current state. Ultimately, it has decent timing and visual composition. Some of the choreography could use some tuning, and there needs to be narration, imo, but other than that I like the direction it's heading in.

Man, Ben D.'s delivery and timing were perfect, but Spike S.'s tone and voice in general were overall better, imo.

I think it was mentioned that skinning was a feature? Did I misinterpret that?

[quote who="Hunam_" reply="4" id="3644623"] I'm gonna revive this, 'cause nothing else is happening here. I love this idea! Especially if "getting" the captains is organically tied in the story (not entirely necessary though). What if some captains are restricted to certain types of ships? What if some captains add a "special ability" to their ship that otherwise doesn't exist in any form or shape? Like down the scope sniping

Buddy, I came here to talk about Star Control. All I'm pointing out is that this stopped being related to Star Control a long time ago. Further, ad hominem, strawman, AND Expert fallacy all in one place.

I would say he's gone off the deep end, but that ship sailed a long time ago. I don't mean to sound rude, but I think the relevance started to trail off in the middle of page 1 O_o;;

[quote who="Hunam_" reply="7" id="3641783"] ^ The avionic names are just an analogy example. Corkscrew can be a maneuver where you decrease your ship's body volume to avoid damage by rolling (if your ship's profile is really wide, but flat). Cobra can be replaced with a quick 180 ship flip with fast deceleration if you press forward. Nesterov's loop can take your ship out of the battle plane and back in rendering you "invincible" for its duration. Etc etc etc.

I disagree somewhat. I feel like, while it certainly isn't right right now, I don't think the old interface will work either. Though if there's options for UI customization, I'd support that 100%.

Well, there seems to be an easy angle as of late that we could use to our advantage. The slimeball journalism sites under Gawker's banner eat the hell out of anything labelled "nostalgia", "reboot", "beloved", and "classic".

I'd like to chime in and say that I absolutely love this idea. I'd contribute ideas to the post, but seeing as one of the GDDs I'm working on right now is a game in the same vein as Star Control with a bit of Sins, I should probably keep them under wraps for now ;P 2) is easily my favorite because of my love of post-apocalyptic scenarios. But I'd really enjoy an option to PLAY AS these beings, that just seems so cool and appeals to my need for stru

I am in awe. As for the in-game combat ui, I think minimizing the screen-space used by the existing elements would be beneficial. This could probably apply to all of the ui elements, though I'm aware that this is still fairly early in. As for the music: believe me when I say that I started playing this, my dad came running in to see which UQM mod I was running. XD (Bare in mind, if you haven't read my intro, my father is a former Accolade employee, having

[quote who="HenriHakl" reply="5" id="3637504"] Thank you Vaelzad - I'm perfectly happy to wait for good modding tools, as long as I can rest assured that they will come eventually. That said; I'm a little concerned that the ship designer isn't powerful enough for my needs if it only caters for pre-fabricated parts. I'd like to strongly advocate a robust scripting system that allows for custom-crafted ships. I've extensive experience in the Warcraft 3 script

[quote who="HenriHakl" reply="35" id="3636258"] For the record, I'd like to say that I like the "cartoony" look that is shown in Civilization 6. Given that there are several dozen important points of attention on the screen having the elements clearly visible in high contrast and with little to muddle understanding is good. I also want to stress that the "YouCanTrustHim" guy is too cartoony. He's looks too zany and targeted at 5 year-olds. I *can* picture him as somebo

I wasn't making a direct attack, I was making a generalization based on the common attitudes I've read in regards to early access for years.

[quote who="SavageMind1" reply="1" id="3635938"] I hate early access. I have seen buggy crap hit early access and the devs fall upon their own swords. All it is, is paid for alpha or beta testing which publicizes buggy crap with the caveat "early Access" Technically, Founders program can be looked at as the same thing. However with the founders program I get input from the inception until the end product, also having access to all the DLC in the future is worth the price
