[quote who="Kavik_Kang" reply="16" id="3630835"] Savage, I personally define an RPG as a game where the focus is ultimately on your character. Going up levels, gaining new skills, getting better equipment, etc. An adventure game, in my mind, is a game that is about the story, and your character never really changes. Volusianus, I would actually upgrade the systems before the "inherent" characteristics of the ships. Personally, as I said in the previous post,

[quote who="Kavik_Kang" reply="13" id="3630781"] I would hope that they would avoid all of these kinds of things. Star Control isn't an RPG, it's 2 arcade games inside of an adventure game. I would rather not see any RPG elements in it. Uprgrading the mothership is good, but I would even go as far as saying I'd rather not see upgrades for the satellite ships. They are what they are, the later game satellite ships are the upgrades. Although I

I'm not opposed to the idea of sending them off as scouts to survey uncharted regions that you don't necessarily have the time or fuel to visit though. This puts the onus on you as to whether it's worth it to go explore their recon findings. I don't think it serves the gameplay for y

I fully support any and all ships with tentacles. Yes please. ABSOLUTELY MORE MORE MOOOAR. I mean, some biological ships could be cool too. Actually, scratch could, can we please get at least one bio-ship? :D Exploration being expanded is definitely a good direction, and can I say the new alien is adorable on multiple levels?

These fights are essentially dog-fights, and doing that across a whole solar system in minutes seems odd to me. Also, having that many gravity wells in play…is that really a goal? I could get used to it, but having

As a matter of fact aiming was a matter of skill and was a mini game in its own way. It gave a lot of good tools for tracking your opponents and dodging attacks. The only thing with isometric is that the camera has to be perfect or it ruins the whole experience. It has to be quick, allow for a lot of zooming quickly, and be abl

Stagnation is cool too, I guess. I've never particularly felt that top-down was outdated, just that very few developers know how to develop it properly. I will NEVER be convinced that more options is a bad thing, as long as they are options, and not mandatory.

Because they stated in the document that the goal of the overhaul is to improve and add to the existing game, and that it would NOT under any circumstances be a mere clone.
A good game is addictive because it's a good game, not because it's addictive. If you design a game for the express purpose of being addictive, you've lost sight of what quality really is.
