Oh and sensor boats. I modded those back in. I think if you techup a certain tech than sure why not? Back in the day when we cramped huge vessels with a plain hyperdrive and 55 sensors and could see half the map! > Joy!
This should be a use for Military starbases... super powerful sensors too big to be put on a ship ;) or could be a race perk for so
I would like the tech tree to scale better with map/# planets. For those that like the slow game. Sure you can mod it but it's just not the same. On large galaxies the best techs you can research in a turn. This means why build a huge fleet until you get to top of the tech tree. This also ends up making military starbases obsolite. Oh wow you get +10 laser bonus, My fleet is 2000 laser. Make military
One very minor thing I'd like to see in IV is to have an option to see the AI combat like you could in GCII. While playing III I wish I could see what the other civs at war are doing. In case any of you don't know what I'm talking about, GCII had an option so that between your turns, while the AIs were moving, your view of the galaxy jumped around so that you could see the AI ships move and fight each other (not the combat viewer, just

The biggest thing I want in IV is a bit more flavor to the tech tree. no technology is developed in isolation. Incandescent bulbs did not lead directly to Fluorescent did not lead to LED etc... There should be spurs or offshoots from weapons that lead to civilian items, or vice versa. There should be random discoveries that may or may not show up like the "crisis" events where a tech spur just happens to show up because some hap

I think the boink to converse is great for initial contact. I think for say 10-20 seconds after you leave a planet the planet should just ignore you if you boink it., with an option to press like L or E or T keys or left/right click on the mouse to land/talk to the planet

I've not gotten to play the new game much as life is.... busy. However one thing I am curious about. Can you still build military bases with the warp projection bubbles? if so.. do these bubbles stack with the Hyperspace lanes?

I understand why the team chose to go "truly" alien with all the aliens.... but it would be sorta neat to see a few tropeish "space elf" "Space fairy" "Space nymph" type races... even if they are just minor way station races...
More critters always good, especially giraffes. The Maelnir need a purple background.
Not really Planet... but I do hope we get to find a major species that is all Giraffes sorta like Dolphins from HGttG... The Maelnir need to be more than just one quirky conversation and an easily findable sales location.... they should move after

The planets should be significantly larger. with hazards more easily identified... oh lava planet with lake of lava.. don't drive there etc. Give the player the option of having additional landing zones, or picking their landing zone and have the difficulty of the landing change based on where the player picked. Add water and perhaps the ability to submerge. calm down the topography... or make the lander climb better...&nbsp

So when you bonk into Earth and or Star Control you get the Press E to talk pop up. When you go and bonk into Triton, you get the landing screen. if you exit and turn the wrong way, you get the landing screen. if you leave and again turn the wrong way, you get the landing screen. rinse repeat. this bonk landing screen can really get flustering if you are just trying to scout a system. Could we get an option to "Press E" to la

Don't forget that you can buy fuel at a lot of places other than Earth so the round trip range is not as big of a deal as it was in 2. That said.. having a note saying going to x star system will take 2000 units of fuel and I only have 1500 units when I click on the link in the captain's log would be very useful...

I'm hoping AMD also sent you some ridiculously powerful new stuff.... hmmm threadripper... It is really cool to hear that the game will run on low end stuff. that's going to be huge! That said is it going to still need lots of ram?

The lander hovers over the surface of the "land" planets. so the stock lander should skim the surface of the water. There should be mods that can be added to the lander like the jump mod that already exists to give it the dive ability... and then perhaps additional mods to do deep dive.. similar to how you have resistance to insta-death when landing on Venus.. etc...

So this is not a guarantee, but from working with other beta builds that have functioned similarly to how SD has run the Fleet battles beta, once the release Fleet Battles goes live the install will grab the beta files update them, and use the ones it needs saving you download time. Most likely once the final game is installed the final step of the installer will be to clean up all the beta files still on your PC. Soooo... wait until Sept 20???
