After installing Icon Packager I have two issues: 1) Most of my icons are now "blank", just this white paper looking thing with the top corner folded. 2) Clicking on Start -> All Programs -> ... sometimes (not always) when I click on a folder it doesn't "open" to show the contents. Instead the folder turns into a little magnifying glass thingy. If I close the Start Menu and click on Start -> All Paograms -> then the folder is now "open". This is on a Window

Is it just me or is the "search" feature in these forums hard to find? Is there one? Am I blind? Anyhow, a few issues… Issue 1: When running WindowFX 2.11 open windows occasionally restore to a tiny window, tiny being only the control buttons, and that’s it. Example: I’ll have Internet Explorer, Notepad, Stardock Central, and WinRar open in cascade fashion. I’ll minimize Internet Explorer and Notepad and look around in Stardo

I installed the trial version of ObjectDock and eventually ended up buying it. However (after installing the full version) when I launch it the trial version still runs. I get no extra docks and the "Buy Now" thing in the help menu still exists. So I decided to uninstall and start over. Now the program won't uninstall via Control Panel. Bringing up Windows Task Manager shows that the process "Perform Uninstall" is not responding. So now not only am I

Whenever I open SD Central it hits my CPU at about 98%. I'm assuming that it's updating skin lib's or something like that but a near 100% CPU hit is hard to deal with with updating can take up to 20 minutes. Also, if I have McAfee turned on it's a non-stop fight to see who can hit the CPU the highest, and the machine becomes unusable for a good 15-20 minutes. SD Central is the only program on my machine that makes McAfee freak out like this. S

Thanks for the suggestions. Shutting down SkinStudio, creating the file, and then copying that new file over the file that was giving me the problem worked... However... Further editing the skin and re-applying the skin to check my progress results in that 256 low-color version of it reapplying itself... This is beyond annoying at this point and this is also why I gave up making a new skin the last time I gave it a shot. Skin Studio seemed to take on a mind of it's own after so many hours into t

I've been working away on a new WindowBlinds skin for about 8 hours now. I'm using Image Composer and SkinStudio (the latest version). Anyhow, I've edited and added loads and loads of new images just fine, but now that I'm at ToolbarButton.bmp I'm literally going insane. Whenever I edit this image, no matter what I do, it saves/defaults/reverts to a 256 color image instead of TrueColor like the other bazillion images that I have edited and created have no problem doing. Like I said above, none o

I have a question regarding graphic design software that I’m assuming someone here can answer. For years and years I’ve used Microsoft’s Image Composer. It’s a great little program that still works great for me, but it is still quite limited. What I like about it is the “work space” I can make a graphic component, drag it around, decide that I don’t want it, drag it outside of the work space, place something else there, etc. It’s kind of hard to explain, so I’m hoping that someone here is famili

Frogboy – I’ve been changing out my boot screens for quite some time using this program: http://www.belchfire.net/~userxp/indexbe.htm I wrote a program to back up my original NTOSKRNL.EXE file prior to using this, and was pleased to find the feature built into this program itself. At any rate, when me and my friends give each other boot screens we make sure that they’re all zipped up the same way, so we’re only giving each other a series of bitmaps. We unzip them into a fo

Hey everyone, thanks for the info. I had a friend who uses dial up who was actually dinged by this and that link to that removal tool is exactly what she needed. Thanks again! … oh, and macrobaye, yes there have been serious holes in Apple and Linux products, I’ve patched a few of them myself. What you have to put into perspective is this: The number of virus writers is directly proport

DaWebMassa - With the setup that I use in the day time it’s actually bothersome that it pops up (without going into too much detail). And yes, it goes away, but on my “day time” setup I have to wait for the pop-up to go away before I can continue down the page, and when downloading a bunch of new skins that little 3 to 5 second pause gets annoying pretty quick. … and, it’s a preference thing…

I'm sure this has been asked a zillion times, but I've searched for a while now and can't find the answer, so here it goes: Does anyone know where to get the wallpaper in this screenshot? https://www.stardock.com/products/desktopx/dx-july03.jpg Thanks!

I've uninstalled DesktopX (several times now) and downloaded the version available in Component Manager but all I keep getting is v1.96... Any ideas?

hehe Hippy... I read an article in Guitar Magazine a while back that talked about how Kirk's playing has "matured" a bit from his "hyper string whipping days". I'm all about the no-solo thing right now. Makes it much easier for me to learn the whole tune in one shot

I picked the CD up the day it came out for $13 and factoring in the DVD and the downloads, it was well worth it. Bob Rock (their producer) played all of the bass tracks on the CD, and he even did a few live gigs with them prior to Robert joining the lineup. The more I listen to it the more this is becoming one of my favorite Metallica works yet. I absolutely love the raw, garage sound that this has. It actually reminds me of Garage Days Revisited (the original) quite a bit. Also, after

Have it... It's amazing... This is the most "raw" that they've ever sounded. And for the record, most of the Nu-Metal bands these days are pretty much Master of Puppets era Metallica with some rap thrown in... Not saying that I don't like it because I do... But none of it really grabs me. Is it just me or has the Nu-Metal scene become a parody of itself, and taken the place of the hair-metal scene of yesteryear? Every band now has one dude with dreads, one with a dyed, sleaze-m
