Are you using ObjectDock too?

Which look are you using where your pinned items do not appear?

This is a very minor issue but I'll report it anyway. I'm using Windows 10 style with "recent files" in the shortcut list (or whatever it's called in the English version). Right-clicking the icon and selecting properties shows a username that doesn't belong to me in the path.

Trying to install Start 11 and getting an error during install, first error was seen when doing an update, then I uninstalled/reinstalled everything (Start 11 as well as Object Desktop) and getting same error...

Is it just me again or is the "Restart and Update" function not working? Last few times I had to restart and update via the Updates settings page...

Also, when adding a shortcut with custom icon to the Startmenu the icon is not displayed. May sound like a minor bug but looks kind of ugly...

if you dont set a name for a page (aka pinned) then any names you have set for your folders wont show up.

Quoting KolbyG,

After running 1.24 for a couple of weeks I can confirm that the performance issues are better, but still not fixed.

The taskbar is generally quite responsive and after a reboot, it's usually fine for a few hours. Then it seems to have periods where it will just completely freeze (mouse over animations stop working), and clicking on the buttons has about a 10-15 second delay between click and action. If you perform a bunch of actions (clicking on multiple windows in the taskbar) while it's frozen they will all happen at the same time after 10-15 seconds once it starts responding again. This was MUCH worse in previous Start11 versions and as I mentioned before, it got so bad I had to uninstall it for a while. I used to see this much more frequently and 60s+ delays, so it is better, but still not perfect.

Sometimes this will happen once and then be fine for a few more hours, other times it's over and over again. Restarting explorer seems to fix it sometimes, other times I have to reboot.

Win11 22000.739 (happened on last month's build as well)
Start11 1.24

Since this is a performance-related report, relevant machine specs:
Ryzen 3900X
64GB RAM
PCIe SSDs

Also monitor arrangement, in case that matters:
1 - 3840x2160 (100% scaling)
2 - 3840x2160 (150% scaling)
3 - 3840x2160 (150% scaling, vertical/portrait mode)

It is possible you have your desktop wallpaper set to change every so often?

I ask as it is a known bug in Windows 11 (and 10) that when it changes the wallpaper it causes explorer to hang for periods (unrelated to S11)

Nope, static background, thanks for the suggestion though!

Hi Yes I am, and whatever look I decide to use. However I can only use windows 7 look as over wise the menu is back in the top left corner.

Reinstalling makes no difference.

Starting to make me wish I was using a dodgy copy now and asking for a refund! :( I am also unable to use the enhanced task bar, as it hangs windows after a while and will need to reboot to get the taskbar to respond!

You would need to remove ObjectDock. It is not supported on Windows 10/11 and is the trigger for the menu showing at the top of the screen.  It can also in some versions of Start11 cause the taskbar to lockup.

Has anyone experienced the taskbar being totally unresponsive during explorer file transfers?

I believe there is a bug within Start11 app when you also use Auto Hide Taskbar settings

The taskbar does AutoHide, but when you Maximize the window your in, it doesn’t go all the way to the bottom of the screen. The window behaves as if the taskbar is still there even though it's hidden.

You can see in my screenshot the Google webpage won’t go to the bottom where the taskbar normally is even though I maximized the browser. I even tried to drag the browser window manually, but it just snaps right back to how it looks in the screenshot.

Curious if there is a fix for this

Thanks!

Hi

I am still getting this issue that if I hover over an icon on the toolbar (eg Outlook) then it shows another app (in this case Slack). If I click on the Icon (ie Outlook) it will then open Slack. SO too open Outlook I have to use ALt-Tab

Great if you could fix this

Thank you!

Please please please can you fix this? Or give an update/reply I've posted a couple of times. The Start11 taskbar has become unusable, and I have now removed Start11. That bug makes the taskbar worse than Microsoft's bastardisation of the Win10 version and that's saying someting! I so much prefer Start11 and have been using equivilant since it first came out way back when- but this bug makes it unusable. I am in a meeting and want to show an Excel file, click on Excel, and What's App opens.

Please?!

As stated, we cant provide support for Insider builds of Windows.

That said, to exclude that it is an app \ setting conflict, have you tried doing a clean boot?

I'll have to be a "me too" on the issue of taskbar showing the wrong apps when you hover over the button (current version and at least the previous one).

I have Start11 installed on three machines.

It occurs on a machine with one monitor (most of the time, occasionally switch to expand to include TV)

On my machine with three monitors (work) the taskbar will become 90% unresponsive eventually.

In both case I can go to taskbar>right click>configure start11>taskbar > Restart Explorer to reset it to working (for a while).

Third machine is a laptop that I don't use often enough to tell if there's an issue.

I ended up simply turning off Taskbar enhancements in Start11. I really got it for the actual Start Menu anyway (which works fine (no idea what MS was thinking with the Win11 menu)). Though I do like the "sometimes combined" settings when it works.

why does the alternative icon (start) no longer work when the taskbar is in the middle?

Not sure I have all the information I need to answer this (Windows version for one) but is this what you mean?

As the message in-app states, that is only supported when the Start button is on the left.  If you turn it off, you will be able to edit it. See:

Bug: Start Menu does not update upon installing an app. It only updates if I go to "Start Menu" -> "Configuration" -> "Advanced Configuration" and disable/re-enable "show recently added apps".

Is there a plan to make it possible to position the Windows symbol in the middle even when using Start11 to enhance the taskbar? If not, I'd like to make a feature request here... Thank you very much!

How exactly is it 'not working' - when you click it, nothing happens?
