I wasn't referring to anyone specifically, I just didn't want this thread to turn into an argument :) As for the terror stars, I still think it should give a morale drop because it's the worst thing you can do, even if it's to your enemy. (And what if you're actually on good terms with the AI beforehand? That's even worse...) I've always assumed that even with a flat-out conquest you don't kill *everybody*, it's only the end of them as an independent power. I like to think th
You are after all fighting for the survival of the Human Race in a hostile galaxy.
I guess I see your point; all the other races are trying to win too, and even the "good" Altarians don't seem very inclined to try for a diplomatic solution. Though I agree that the terror stars should drop morality and make the other races more wary of you, kind of like using a planet buster in Alpha Centauri. Maybe it should even get you kicked out of the UP. (though I guess it
I tried that before and they just got rid of it by the next turn. But does it raise your relations with them? It seems like a star system would be considered a pretty nice gift, or do they realize how crappy it is?
Morality events are nice and all, but to me it doesn't makes sense for the game to rate players as 'pure good' when they spend most of their time rubbing their hands together and muttering "Excellent..." while plotting underhanded ways to stick it to the alien scum :) I realize it would be impossible to balance, but I've always thought it would be cool to see is a more dynamic morality system that changed according to your playing style.
I'm not sure of the exact math, though there's probably an element of randomness involved. But if you're finding it too easy to beat the AI just try moving their intellingece up a little.
I was playing on a large map. Could the Torian's have put them up to it, maybe? Somebody was definitely destabilizing me, though I'm not sure who. Anyway, I've pretty much given up on that game as hopeless and started a new one, and now I'm being terrorized by at least three space sharks who are destroying my ships as fast as I can build them; I lost three transports which kind of ruined my plans for an early rush on the Arceans. I don't know, I finally join the site and sta
I was playing last night and pretty much had the entire galaxy under my thumb when for no apparent reason the I-League declared war on me. That was one of the most humiliating things I've ever experienced; they trashed all my starbases and took out my freighters before I even had a chance to react and completely wrecked my economy and morale. I felt stupid afterwards because I'd noticed a lot of their corvettes hanging around, but I hadn't suspected anything. I've *never* bee
Any ideas about how big a download it'll be? I'm on a dial-up here...
I had the Yor hand over their last planet to me once when I first started playing (they were at beginner), but I thought it made sense. They had no chance of winning, and from their point of view it came down to giving me contol over them vs. having every last member of their race mercilessly slaughtered. It actually impressed me that they were realistic enough to choose the former option.
