definitely look into what Doreen is describing. I had that happen to me and it took me quite awhile to figure out where the heck to turn that off. This is an item that should never be set to default "ON", however it is.

My experience shows that in this case the Properties on your processor are actually embeded on the chip. I might be of the belief that you are running an "Athlon XP 2000+" this is the chips name. The stepping and mode are more reflective of the actual bus speed. I recommend you give SiSoft's Sandra a try. What program is being used to chose which OS to boot to? as well as all the Q's hashonboat is asking. the easiest way would be with Partition magic. Especially if your not really good with computers. oh btw kona when you see my si sandra specs you do see a dvd rom however I can only use it for data disks. 233 is not fast enough to decode and play a dvd movie. very jumpy misses lots of frames... i was experimenting. If I get the k6 I will put the dvd back in.

I disagree... 2k runs just as fast as 98se and boots faster. My notebook specs are the same as kona's. the 266 k6 2 does not have any L1 cache. Unless code is writen for 3d now it would run considerably slower then a p2 233. I found out the my notebook is using a socket 7. I can upgrade my p2 to a k6-2 380 mhz... unfortunately my system can not handle a plus k6 chip so still not L1 cache but at an increase of 147 mhz it will perform much better.

Neither. They are completely separate programs from dashboard however they tend to compliment it quite nicely. They skin the top and bottom bars as well they add functionality like task management. When you first install Dashboard it asks you if you would like dashboard to replace the today screen as the main screen. If you select no then you can run dashboard ontop of the today screen but I believe that it then acts like any other today plug in. I suggest you reinstall and chose yes to that q: On the other hand if your refering to the start bar not being skinned and the command bar on the bottom. I agree with Koasati... only I would take it one step further... I think a user should have to log in to download anything. Being a member of wincustomize, presented with an clear understanding of the MB limits for non subscribers and an overall understanding of the bandwidth issues in general. this alone prevents deep linking to downloads. I do not believe the argument that such a mandatory log in would prevent users from frequenting Wincusto, but your unique # of visitors will drop

I have run XP on my Umax 233 with 96 mb ram. It ran pretty good actually I only decided to remove it and go with win2k because of the size of XP on my dinky 3 gig HD. 2k runs quite smartly too I must say. the trick to getting good performace with smaller ram is memory management. brick wall your swap file at 2x your ram. I have been really pro Mandrake for those just starting out... but I am changing my colors! I have found that Red Hat has done an incredible job of creating a Desktop replacement for windows... ... I would know pretty fast that it was XP no matter what. most likely the reason is that your company is too cheap to pay for an XP license. The classic theme that comes with XP is the closest you can get, use small icons on the start menu to remove the banner, the only obvious give away will be the windows logo on the start button... don't forget to disable the auto hide notification area and the pop u
