It'll never happen, but you know what I would love in ways you've only read about...? Porting Star Control 2 into the Star Control Origins engine. Like, no other difference whatsoever--like, seriously; change nothing about the game itself--but give it a weapons-grade make-over. That'd be so much fun.

I still think the tune for the Mowlings is adorable. :)

The music for planet exploration, though...the mood is definitely different. If I wasn't afraid of copyright issues, I'd make a comparison video on my YouTube channel. But there are already some videos out there; not comparisons, but you can do the math yourself: <a href="https://www.yout
I hope the next iteration of the game has all races animated instead of a little picture in the bottom left. That really took away from the experience for me.
Agreed. A while back, someone said that the game felt half-finished, and I totally know what they meant; it's exactly that sort of thing--plus the occasional moments where there is no voice, only text--that makes it feel that way. Dang. I was hoping for covert assassination and seizure of intellectual assets.

Believe me when I say, I wish that had never happened. And I was definitely amused to bump into that particular easter egg.

Did anybody else encounter the Pik of the Zoq-Fot-Pik on Yilfrqa in the Epsilon Indi system...? I thought SC2 creatures wouldn't be here in SCO...

Singularity missiles are awesome. They should be more dramatic when they hit a target, cuz it looks like they bounced off the hull harmlessly, but no...I've watched what happens to crew when they hit, and it can usually take down 1/3rd or more on a large ship. And if you're obviously not going to hit, but the missile will go in front, detonate it just like you would a Black Hole.

Still, it really ought to be automatic. The game keeps track of which planets you've scanned , so we know it's keeping a record SOME where. This wouldn't be a difficult feature to add, I'm sure.

11 Replies 29,349 Views

This is probably the single most requested feature. I've yet to see the devs comment on it. Not a yes, not a no, nuffin'. (Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place for it, but I've been reading this and the Steam forum quite a lot over the last few months, and especially the last week or so...)

I can't imagine why --other than for making you work for it more--the cuddle-drives could possibly be unsuitable for colonization.

11 Replies 64,264 Views

Yeah. I really would like to see a more fleshed-out planetary experience. Regardless of what Stardock expected, it's a huge part of my gameplay experience. Huge.

Ah. Perhaps I shouldn't have renamed my spaceship to "White Knight". I should replay the game as a complete jerkwad. Heh. :)

Or maybe they did and we just don't see it cuz we've only played it through once. But...well, I d'know. I mean, okay, what if we'd gone to trial with the Mu'Kay without the necessary evidence and lost their support? Will the game let you do that? It'd be worth a shot trying, I suppose, but I can't imagine someone just doing that. Maybe if the trial was time-sensitive, and you had to do the gathering of evidence NOW, rather than takin

I really, really hope one of the devs is reading this, because I'm very curious... I read something one of the design team had written, and they said that our choices have consequences, and that by the time our game was over, the galaxy would probably look very different from someone else's galaxy. Thing is...I don't really see how. Most of the choices I'm given--at least in dialogue--seem to have led to the same place, ultim
Yeah, I'm surprised there is not a Mediapedia of discovered races and coordinates of their discovered home worlds, or colonies. Of if they told you here their home world is.
There is a codex that you can access...but it doesn't update itself. It only shows the Tywom and I think the Scryve; at least one other alien species, anyway. I was looking forward to browsing through it, but when I saw it not
