I like the dark ambience although it honestly strikes me more as mood music for gameplay as opposed to a race theme. The first thing I pictured while listening was some tense gameplay scenario like navigating through a dark and dangerous environment while something scary is watching/stalking you. Don't mean to sound critical but the melody is very atonal because the key signature seems way off, or the timbre has been altered wit

I have to say, 2, 7, 9, 10, and 12 are my clear favorites so far.
UPDATE: The rough draft of the Mycon theme is up! The site's been having some minor technical difficulties lately, so if it looks frozen or stuck, give it a minute or two. I'm actively trying to fix this, but it looks like it might be on Wix's end. Edit: Fixed the Mycon theme to actually be referred to as the Mycon theme.
Pretty sure that's a Nidoran ;P
ANIMATIONS So in my opinion, most of the lander animations are gorgeous. I thought the wiggle before takeoff was a little silly, but other than that, very sweet. Overall, the uh...guys, what's the name of the sinister looking man-spreader? Anyways, I love his posture, the way he steeples his fingers briefly. I noticed that the orbs floating around him were sprites. My only quip is that if that something is s
Oh yeah. I fully intend to make at least a mini campaign (2-4 hours to complete) at a minimum. I've lurked around a few of the fansites for Star Control over the years (as we are wont to do around these parts), and I was certain I had heard your work somewhere before :P
Quoting Hunam_, reply 18 Wow, this ship actually gives me a boner. I can't imagine what creature would pilot it... Eve from Wall-E? Maybe in 3D it will look better. Right now it just sort of looks like a set of disposable C
Mods feel free to move this if this is not in the appropriate spot. Hey, guys. Just a little preview of an album I'm putting together. This isn't the final version, but I figured since you guys are Star Control fans, I could get a little bit of feedback while we're here. I'm not entirely sure which songs I'm going to cover, but I absolutely KNEW I had to use this one at least once. Note: Sound quality drops significantly on phones if not using headphones. <
Did anyone view the .MOV file?
I did. That felt very much like Star Control. Is there supposed to be audio, or is that just me knowing it should be there? :P
I'm a mix of both camps, honestly.
So... A little more explanation... Listen, Camp #1. We aren't blinded by nostalgia. If anything, we are upset with the fact that there hasn't been a 1v1 ship game as good as SC2 in the past 20 years. You want to give us Not Star Control. I don't want to play Not Star Control. I want to play Star Control, dammit! Camp #2 is the one true camp because keeps the Star Control fe
Quoting Volusianus, reply 12 Oh no, what are you going to do, not play the game you already paid for? [e digicons]:P[/e] Well... Probably not... Remember that I didn't really like SC2's adventure mode.
Actually, Civ 6 may be the first time he DOESN'T die.
If they announce it was cut............. Yeah, you aren't going to like that case.
Oh no, what are you going to do, not play the game you already paid for? :P
Honestly, Star Control looks far further along than this was, especially if this is at the same time frame.
^ Picking what is inside is better.
...have you ever celebrated christmas? And if so, what kind of kid got to pick what was inside of it?
I'm honestly not surprised, though. It took privatization and commercialization for us to finally have a reason to explore other continents (and boy look how that turned out ;P ). I especially loved the crack at it that was featured in Species 2. In the opening scene, as the ship enters the orbit of Mars, you can see advertisements and logos of various products plastered across the side and rear of it, like how a NASCAR racecars have their sponsors painted on them. Pretty sure I remember
If it's future dlc or content for an expansion, what does it matter if they attempt it as long as it doesn't impede the original release?
I think he's referring to the GDD.
Stop speaking in absolutes, you sith. Look, that's not the case. If you want something made, you don't need millions of dollars, that's bullshit. There's lots of avenues for you to make something, and they're not difficult, they just take a little bit of time. Learn how to develop in Unity, or Lumberyard, or Unreal 4, or the countless other easy to use, free engines out there. Learn C#, learn Javascript. If you have ANY inkling of programming knowled
No, they didn't say they aren't going to do it or that they can't. They said they aren't going to do it in the initial release. That word choice is very important ant deliberate, because it doesn't completely rule out a later release with a patch, dlc, or an expansion. If you can really do it, put your money where your mouth is and show us a demo you've made that uses it.
"No they can't do it." We're going to have to agree to disagree. Maybe YOU can't do it, but someone can. Stop that.
I don't think it's that they can't do it, it's that they would rather focus on making the core fun before adding that to it, and I'm confident that they'll find a happy middle ground in terms of AI difficulty.
Naw, the US was entirely capable of losing. You just had to coordinate combined arms attacks, and in particular, using leap-frog tactis with the Western forces' MASSIVE arsenal of helicopters. Like, that's more or less the core mechanic of the game: the invaders have to coordinate, or the US wins in a war of attrition. And a few well-placed blood sacrifices to RNGesus.
Okay, if you could just stop assuming that we don't have any knowledge of basic gaming outside of video games, that would be great.
