I'd watch it.

I'd be nice to have your "Vindicator" "evolve" in a modular manner. IMO it'd give the player ultimate sense of achievement and progression.
^ What do you mean by "more believable"? SC2 was never believable and that was the part of its charm. You can make it serious like Mass Effect, but then will it be Star Control?... Steve Jobs also quoted Picasso's infamous quote and I kinda agree with it. There's no reason to reinvent the wheel. If you start "fixing" what's already working you're bound to break it. I'd like devs to answer a simple question: "Why
Challenge #1: IS Star Control Star Control without the Spathi? Replace Spathi with a race that resembles the Spathi traits and make it recognizable. It doesn't have to look or called Spathi of course. Challenge #2: What IS Star Control? It's an action adventure game with significant RPG elements since we live in a role-playing generation now and there's no escaping from it.
Quasispace (green) theme kinda sucked in comparison to hyperspace (red) in SC2 which was pretty epic IMO. [e digicons]^_^[/e] ------------------------ EDIT: Here's my personal favorite: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0TGokaENAEA
Having stylized fonts per alien race. Give us some concept art for goodness sake. 1 picture, plz.
How about just here and now? Kappa.
^ I love SC2 battles, but I never use anything other than my flagship in 'em. I love arcade feel to them, I hope they keep it this way.

Exploration Game - 25% Starship Battle Game - 17.5% Ship Customization game - 17.5% Planet Exploration Game - 25% Trading Game - 0% (buying/selling upgrades and quest items doesn't count as trading) Adventure Game - 15% This is SC I personally would like to play.
^ I concur, Professor. [e digicons]XD[/e] Don't fix it if it ain't broken. I wish devs started posting basic ideas they're trying to go with. At least it'd liven up the forum and give us food for discussion. [e digicons][/e]
^ The systems map could be a separate entity. Just like SC2.
[e digicons][/e] I suggested similar idea where you basically have a side quest to fly through a meteorite/mine field to retrieve something. Chases(timed)/fights(non-timed) are a possibility. It can be implemented as a marked point in star system view which you need to fly to to start the quest. Same on the planets with lander. Like gunning through a rough terrain like lava pits, running lava, volcanic eruption fire rain and such to pick something up or save somebody.
I wouldn't hold my breath. They don't even wanna post summer update. [e digicons]:'([/e]
Just thought to throw this in here for entertainment value. All the credit goes to pictures respective owners. Maybe devs could get some ideas out of these. The level of detail on most of them is probably an overkill, but it'd be nice to have it in game if you could zoom in and appreciate it. 1 2 3 [img]http://i.imgur.com/
^ That sounded almost convincing. :P Jokes aside, I'm all for 1v1 battles, but you know 'em stubborn devs. They'll do w/e they think is best. Even though sometimes it's a total FailFish. All they need to worry about (core SC things) IMO: 1. Variety and balance of alien ships for 1v1 battles. 2. Superb full 3D graphics. 3. Immersive and engaging storyline. 4. Top notch UI.
Great to hear the development goes in the right direction! I'd love love love to see alien spaceships fully animated, with lights blinking, turrets turning, laser charging, spinning artificial gravity rings, glowing/pulsating engines, electric charges running down the hulls for inorganic races and all that eye candy one can dream of in this day and age. Visual hull damage would also be amazing, be it a gaping hole from a long range cannon or a
^ option to lock the view? Love that interface, perspective view panels and all that nonsense. In game I'd love more eye candy though like comets, asteroids, everything animated & full 3D. Ability to pop-up a close up view on a planet/star with all its satellites fully animated etc.
This looks pretty cool. http://www.solarsystemscope.com/
^ Don't you think it'll be extremely hard to balance?
^ My Vindicator was never a pure combat vessel up until the point where Melnorme info traded for bio data was exhausted and I didn't need any resources anymore. But even then I managed to kill any alien ship including green and black Ur-Quan ships without a problem. I never used any ship other than the flagship for combat except the final boss which you could only safely kill with the Pkunk ship. Also, you didn't have to use your flagship to fight at all. It cou
Two options to control escorts (and by options I mean the player decides before battle): A: leave them to be controlled by the AI entirely B: give them a RTS style of control being able to control them via the mouse while controlling the flagship with QWEASD and the Crtl keys. Of course you can choose to not have any escorts at all. It's all about the option of choice
This d
If we're talking about chores of SC2 then I'd rather have that scanner on the Vindicator (3DO name of your flagship) and you can only use it when already in the system, so it depletes resources from your ship which you can refill as you go. Otherwise, returning back to the base to scan mineral rich systems would turn into another chore. System scanner would save you shizz ton of time of going to each planet to scan it. It doesn't necessarily need to provide detailed info about the
