^ Are you disagreeing that WIP combat vid view is strictly inferior to top-down aim-wise for the majority of SC2 ships? I don't think there's much hypocrisy in people's posts. As it was mentioned before, majority of players don't know what they want. I tend to agree with it more than disagree.
I hope that I won't need to buy a gamepad just to play the game "the way it was designed to".... It's keyboard or mouse or combo for me. Before you know it they will be wanting me to buy an Xbox to play a game "the way it was designed to play". The next step then we will all be required to buy an Oculus rift or something..... and then sell our souls.... [e digicons]:hugme:[/e] oh wait... I already sold mine when
^ I'd not use this scheme even if they paid me. SPAZ had it right with the mouse controls, but I'd rather play the game using gamepad. And most likely I'd use actual directional control as opposed to relative (as in original SD2). I really hope SD tailors UI to gamepad rather than mouse and keyboard.

Here's my take on that encounter dialog screen: 1. Don't make it fullscreen. It takes away from immersion. It makes me feel like I'm visiting their ship, being right infront of them during talks which wouldn't make sense if your encounter fella is hostile or their environment isn't human biology friendly (Mukay?). 2. Make it a non-transparent holographic screen inside Vindicator. See picture. !!! IMPORTANT !!! You also want to have p
Let's make it clear about some terms we use here. What you guys call isometric/isometric 3D is in fact a perspective view (that's what's in the presented combat & exploration WIP vids). Just "isometric" view is a parallel view (what SC3 melee has). Here's visual difference:
I don't want radar, but wha
I am confident that I won't have any trouble aiming regardless of camera perspective as long as I know where the enemy is and I can see the angle I am facing. That is, at the very least I would need a radar showing the enemy position and the radar should accurately show which direction I am facing. OR I would need a zoomed out view of the whole combat area and thus able to see where the enemy is.
Radar in this type of
My ideal view of a Star System to explore: MINIMAL PERSPECTIVE , MINIMAL VIEW ANGLE . SHIP APPEARS AT THE EDGE OF THE SYSTEM JUST LIKE ORIGINAL (not locked in the screen center like in the WIP vid). Here's a perfect example of what I wanna see on my screen when I reach one of the systems. Add Vindicator at the system edge oriented the same way as when you reached it. ^ it's not an FPS game. As in: it has cover, dodge mechanics. FPSs don't have them. It was built to be played in TP only. Fallout on the other hand... http://www.kotaku.com.au/2015/11/the-big-question-do-you-play-fallout-4-in-first-or-third-person/ More than 50% play it strictly in FP view.
^ Don't you guys think Abby T. #1 sounds a bit too young for a Station Commander?
^ You don't have to visualize it for the player at all. SC2 didn't, SC3 didn't and it was absolutely fine. Why do you think there's a need to visualize it? The problem of SC3 isn't the gravity. It's the view. Kavik_Kang is coming with a bang and I have a feeling I'll agree with him 99.127% Hold on. XD
^ It was confirmed by Andrew in this separate thread (I say using the most comprehensive netspeak: "Vid or didn't happen"): Let's talk about the Feb 2016 Update! - ### Ship Combat ###
Name: Cutter Velocity: High Acceleration: High Turning rate: High Primary weapon: high intensity double laser Secondary weapon: temporary stealth Recharge rate: Average This ship uses stealth and speed to get close to the enemy. When primary weapon is activated the ship splits in half and high intensity laser is activated between the two halves. The longer primary weapon button is held, the farther ship separates and the l
Here's your top - down gravity representation ANIMATED even, Andrew. I don't see any issues with learning to feel it from top - down view. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im9PuBdIjMY The problem with ISO is the vertical:horizontal visual:actual distance discrepancy. Add perspective to it, add ships motion and gravity and I don't see how a player can aim effectively when there are so many factors in play. Unl
^ yes, it's preeeeettty good, but far far from perfect (like word "but" in "but you didn't" completely mismatches the lips shape), hence my indifference to it. I choose to concentrate on the voice acting. LA Noir facial expression tech still beats both if we're talking immersion. I'm not sure about applying it to alien faces and its price though.
Exploration Not sure if top-down here is better. The system in the vid feels too compact. Or the ship speed too great?... I, personally, would prefer like to check out the option where my ship is locked in the middle of the screen bottom facing north and controls would move the system around it. Accelerating and "breaking" would result in a slight pitch change of the ship. Turning, i

Well, I'm just gonna repost my stuff here then: Perspective ISO is the worst possible view for this type of combat I could ever imagine. It is super restrictive for ship weapon design too. How am I supposed to aim my weapons in this? Not only it's isometric, but it's also perspective!! Say bye bye to one shot/long recharge/long range/"slow" projectile weapons. There's no way in hell to be effective at aiming in this view. Add motion
^ So we need to chill out and not give our feedback on what they showed us?...
I believe it could be improved by zooming in closer to your ship and positioning it at the bottom of the screen with a wider field of vision both to your sides off into the distance in front of you. I refer to it as a "command view", basically directly above and behind the aft of the ship
