well I'm a HUGE GalCiv fan, its prolly my favourite game, I push Civ4 aside to play this baby, but "polish 10?" I am looking at the forums every day for a patch and I have to say I am struggling currently to progress the game. my autosaves arent working properly (ship paths and locations) my cursor keeps disapearing and crashing my puter (not to dt total locks) the ship modify is frankly a mess (really sorry). I am really nervous about posti

The influence is an interesting one, I have questioned that before. I am told that teh backstory requires that you know where teh other races are already and that the invention of the new drive spawns a territoty rush and the meeting face to face of races that already have some 'history'; prolly worth checking out teh backstory for a better explanation than this!

Cari - campaign game, non meta I think. Boogie - sounds like the issue right there, I slammed 3 sensors on the ship originally then went back to upgrade and the plan was to remove two of em' and use the space for a nice new shield. Nice to hear u guys r on teh case. I'll just avoid it for a little while. game feels nice and polished otherwise, so far.

S eems prety major to me, crashed game and locked pc causing hard restart. I hit the 'upgrade' button having selected a design template (one of my own) from the SHIPBUILDING screen (i.e. not from the ship itself) and then proceeded to have a merry dance with removing items, scanners kept reapearing and disapearing as i tried to remove them. Even with less mass space occupied than the space indicator I could not save design, could only exit,

Brad, what sort of 'signs' could the ai have looked for whilst it was building up for a long game? OK it could have seen you building lots of warships and eventually moving them at itself, but can it look into your research (i.e. cheat) and determine that YOU are not researching for a long game?

erm I feel a bit awkward posting the first prob but it doesn't seem to fit the categories listed in "download woes" by Brad, maybe it does?. The log is immense but the key to it is it can't find the url. an extract follows: -- [Installation] --------------------------------------------------- Download: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\gc2\production\gc2.xml 1 Load: C:\Program Files\Stardock\SDCentral\data\public\gc2

Yea Larry Niven and jerry Pournelle's Ringworld series, awesome. I am not sure I have read the last couple, are they worth a look, the first two blew me away - the sense of scale in the first one is amazing writing, anyome read the riverworld trilogy by philip jose farmer? I read it a few years ago now (too many to mention) but it was amazing and i have never come across anyone else who has read them!

nice report. Well done John, and well done the guys and galls at Stardock - I beta tested GC1 extensively and I agree this is a major cut above, great progress and if quality does get its rewards (it doesn't always) GC2 should establish Stardock, but particulary Brad and his merry band as top flight games developers ( they are top flight im many other respects of GUI development etc of course). I look forward to the team getting its rewards and turning its attention back to Society <

I will become a Budhist, with a wireless laptop close to a hotspot in Nepal atop' a mountain, close to a Pizza outlet, and where they deliver beer. And then I will spend a few years discovering myself, and playing GC2
