For instance, the ship battle stuff is still stand-in stuff that will likely be heavily altered a lot (the weapons fire and shield effects and that kind of thing) wow and i was impressed with that already

the damage indicator in the combat screen isn't working properly it seems - it is supposed to fill up with red until the losing ship goes boom, but I have seen plenty of situations where it seems to fail to indicate damage at all in a combat session and the losing ship pops and the indicator stays undamaged
I remember asking for that in the beta of galciv 1!
yes I would support all of these comments. In Galciv and Sid Mier's Civ series I always tend to play epic slow burners and like to get myself established in my corner of the 'verse before we ll established races start slugging it out. So far I don;t get this feel and it WAS possible in this in GC1. I may have to drop a few players and change the star scatter - any ideas what is the closest way to approximate this dynamic anyone?
1) not a bug - can we have edge scrolling on the mini map (how do others re-focus the mini map centrally when its off the edge? 2) Description text in module upgrade options (down the left list) in ship design over-runs
Same problem, and I had to kill the game - but I have not restarted an new game yet so i will send the file, hopefully it will have some clues.
I would go with that. I find my self switching to 'big picture' as I get lost, but then as this doesnt show the text and details swicthing back. Hard to explain but something could help here.
Game hangs on loading the majority of auto-saved games but seems more reliable on manual saves, but not totally so.
aye JMgarth and zeroflux are right I am sure. In fact I quite like the notion of having to build your own configs now that I realise what is going on I will be sad when they bring in Vanilla ships now to be honest but that is inevitable I supose
ahh that makes sense - thanks peeps, my 'super defender mark2' is pretty awesome now that I think of it..
1) Zoom increments are too large by 50% 2) Research is to quick/easy - researchers are penalised for not just going *alls out for other stuff.. 3) Iconians - grey icon is indistinguishable from background 4) We need a re-start CURRENT map - when u f/u a good map distribution. 5) Side (ship-planet) pannel is v.cool - can it be translucent? 6) Biggest map needs to be bigger with the new strategic context - game is fast at
aaaarg! i have real problems loading auto-saved games - as in I cant! they cause the game to stop responding Also for some reason I can't boot up the game regularly after it has closed either after a crash, or an end proggy command (i.e after using end prog after a freeze etc)
Anyone know if there is a thread or an article on ship design paths? I have been playing for a week or so now, and can I heck get my head around achieving larger ships, I can't work out what tech's to develop to switch on Cruisers, Frigates etc - I have tried to follow the "two techs left" etc concept but I never ever seem to get there - i am clearly missing something - can someone help me out? :NOTSURE:
1) am option in sound to switch of the interminable 'boom' boom' sound at the end of the turn as the Ai seems to be reviewing something 2)removing and upgrading parts on existing ships - I assume this has yet to be implemented and has already been reported, but each time i want to upgrade a shield on an existing ship i have to clear all and start again as a new design - someone please tell me what I am doing wrong if this is not the case...
please can we have a centre mini map on selected ship/plannet/station - whatever also can the mini map re-centre around a mouseclick on the mini map pls.
1) smooth scrolling - when you have follow autopilot ships on (which I like to do) the panning to the various ships is very jerky (it jumps there rather than scrolls), this makes it virtually impossible to orientate on the map where it jumps to and therefore where your ship is located and heading. A smoother, perhaps accelerating pan would be easier to follow with the eye and look pretty cool I think. 2) Game totally locked up on me when I w
anyone else having any problems restoring saved games?
I managed to create a saved game without entering a name (couldn't see the text input line) whi8ch was auto named "New saved Game". This was about 40 or so turns into a Huge game with all races. The saved game doesnt load (have left it hanging on load screen for half hour or so) but looking at control pannel GalCiv2 is not responding. I am going to create a saved game in a sec and name it and load it with the same game set up to see if its a general problem or a file naming issue...<b

While cosmetic only, shouldn't a class 16 planet look somewhat Earth-like? My second game with Beta4a has one that looks like Mars, both on the main map and in the planet view. I can send in a saved game if needed. in GC1 i seem to be intuitively able to see the best planets so far in GC2 I have
Game regulary locks up and stops responding as soon as I select Upgrade for existing ships and then click on a componet from the list on the left - still looking for a pattern. The upgrade system is either not working correctly or is illogical or i'm dim as I can't seem to get a workable upgraded ship sorted out. The mini map isn't centring over my selected ship when I select it from the main Galactic map. If t
quick question peeps - just bought GC2 and running beta but no sound - do I need to fiddle with my system or isn't the sound in the beta yet?:
quick question, just bought it and running beta - cant find any refs to sound and I don't have any! am I suposed to or isn't it in yet ?
