In 1992, I was 8. I remember playing SC2/UQM back on the 3DO Multiplayer, one of the first games I got for that system. I loved it, so much. Not the first game I played, but definitely one of those that really stuck in my mind.

Last I saw, Brad mentioned they'd make an announcement some time today (Monday)
Star Control 2 had a decent story, but it wasn't this amazing, original titan that certain people seem to "remember" it as. It was a hodgepodge of tropes and 4th wall violations. Don't get me wrong, I loved it as a kid. But... I was a kid. I viewed it as a kid. I'm an adult now and, seeing it as an adult, I can also pick up its flaws. I enjoyed SCO's story. Like many sci-fi stories, it took bits and pieces of other stories
Aye, some updated comm screens would be a great future addition (though I know the voice acting and species modelling probably wouldn't be cheap...)
I'm sure some fan will, if they're able.
Draginol Yesterday at 5:05 PM Ok it should be up. GOG was supposed to put it up today. Brad said they were supposed to put it up yesterday. If it's not up yet by later today (It's Friday here now), I'm sure Stardock will do some poking.
Curo, if you're still around, could you stip the coding from your text? Post it in Notepad first or something. Black on black is hard to read. D: Edit: Nevermind. It's done now.
I'm hoping they at least eventually make the little portraits animated CGI (like avatars on some forums) even if not a full-blown comm screen. That'd probably help somewhat without breaking the bank on animating full screens for all the lesser/minor races. Funny, the same guys made the music. :P
I mean, certain parties DO like to paint Brad as a villainous mastermind...
Tis just names.
I have a GTX 970 with no such issues. My girlfriend has a GTX with no such issues. Maybe it's not really your GPUs (or you need to update your drivers)?
Which is counter-intuitive to what they said previously. How can they test it before publishing it if it's immediately released? Combined with Stardock Devs saying they hold onto it for testing before letting it be released, I'm more inclined to think their latter statement is them trying to protect themselves.
The game is fantastic. Everyone I've personally spoken to, and know have actually played it, seem to think so.
Meanwhile, Stardock devs say otherwise. And why? "What's more, after the build gets published on GOG via devportal, we test every single one of it - the reason for that is that we want to able to provide our developers with feedback regarding their games to maintain the quality of our products." https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_is_it_truly_more_difficult_for_developers_to_update_their_games_on_gog/post71 Meaning everything said here
LOL Hate to break it to you, sunshine, but XCom came with plenty of bugs. Including install bugs on Steam. XCom also didn't have nitwits purposely trying to review bomb their game.
Yes, it's called review bombing.
I realize Steam is the dominant platform but many of us did purchase SCO on GOG. A patch was released yesterday (10/3) on Steam and we are still waiting for it to be released on GOG. Any idea when this will happen? Is there a reason we can't get patches the same day they are released on Steam?
Basically, blame GOG. Steam shoots them out when Stardock sends the patches. GOG has people run them through checks manually, creating delay
Yes, I played SC2. Relax, no need to get angry. I'm not some young whippersnapper, I played games from the 386 days. Including the original Starflight, Star Control and Tie Fighter. I'm just saying that I, personally, prefer the scanning and mining within the rover. Not the Mario world style gameplay with minerals waiting to be picked up. But if you think SC2/Starflight mineral collection is similar to
If you played SC2, you're aware that SCO's resource collection is very similar. They're just visualized differently due to it being 25 years later and it being a 3D interface. SCO already has an auto-scan and you pick up the materials much like you do in SC2 (There are only so many ways to implement the idea).
There is also a stun cannon upgrade for the lander you could get.
Yes, they added module to unlock jumping a few versions ago.
Probably within the next month or two. I mean, we will already be able to make ships and facilities in prep for our plans.
One obvious item of genuine dispute is the trademark on the name itself, and while I can't comment on where the ownership truly resides by the letter of the law at this moment, it's pretty clear that P&F were happy to give up ownership over that particular piece of the game at some point in the past.
They never owned it. F&P were contracted by Accolade to create Star Control.
SWVRoma To the last reply of yours, you think that Ship vs Ship is such a revolutionary I idea that it would solely be thought of by Fred and Paul. Mono y Mono is about the oldest idea in the book. Landing on planets IS different on SCO...you need to fly it manually to the surface and maneuver it. Picking up resources on a playing field...StarCraft does that, lots of games do that. Now back in
That's a shame. I just don't have the funds to put towards this at the current time. :(
