Why do people keep saying the Mmrnhrm are Precursor-made? Everything in SC2 (and I believe 3) said the Mother Ark was sent by an unknown culture/race and it was theorized that they were the vanguard of that race's colonization efforts.
1. The friction-less travel. I prefer my ship to keep coasting in the direction that I last used my thrusters. Coming to a dead stop when not accelerating doesn't even happen with cars on Earth, so it makes even less sense that it would happen in space with a starship. 2. Too easy to accidentally re-enter planets. They should have some sort of invinci
I’d have to go digging around to find it, but if I remember correctly, at the earliest stages of the Founders program, founders were explicitly told that while they could (in the affirmative) use the original aliens they wouldn’t in the hopes that Paul & Fred would still do an official sequel to SC2 (which I always just assumed would be with StarDock given they were the new owners of the IP). If P&a
Interested!
So's the original two games. That doesn't mean the Daks don't exist in "our" universe.
...you either need to seriously update your PC or at least your OS, jbuck. 32 bit is being phased out by and large. It has a maximum RAM cap that is quite low (4 gigs, I believe).
Hoping for Star Control shirts, hats and patches (the organization logo more than the game logo) to be sold or given away via contests or some such. Beyond that, I'd love for more lore about Star Control's structure to be released. Ranks, internal branches (Corridor Nine, etc). I'd just like an idea about how the organization's set up.
Some Mycon looking plants/animals on some shattered/lava type worlds could be cool. Or "dead" ones on earth-like worlds, their terraforming task accomplished. If we go the route of them being biological Precursor tools.
Really, really disappointed in this. I thought better of Stardock. It seems that faith was misplaced.
"We say we won't do something, which we have since day 1 said we have every right to do, in agreement with and out of respect for X . Then X turns around, violates our mutual understanding, calls us thieves and hires people to badmouth us. The agreement is void." &nb
The Daktaklakpak are a must. I've mentioned loving to see them in the background of the Precursor starbases or something. I'd love all the SC1/2/3 races, but let's pick our battles, so to speak. I'd like to see the Syreen. I think it'd be hilarious if they were close to us in "real space" coordinates via this new Hyperspace map. A Syreen that didn't see their homeworld ravaged by the Mycon. Some Druuge traders/merchants would also
Didn't SC3 let you deploy ships to defend worlds/systems? That was one of the things I actually liked about it. At least in concept. If SCO gives us a wide variety of options as I hope it will (including founding an Earth Empire), it'd make sense to deploy garrisons.
290 posts and people are still trying to convince Brad that they understand law better than his lawyers. nice.
Right? I was just thinking that. They (think they) know more from their googling things than people who actually specialize in trademark and copyright laws.
Elestan, part of the issue is that Toys For Bob was never involved in the making of any of the Star Control games. Paul alone was the contractor for Accolade and he paid his buddies. I'm not entirely sure if TFB was even created until after SC2's release. Regardless, you'll never see TFB mentioned in the original materials for SC 1, 2, or 3. The studio's involvement seems to be retconned in
http://www.mobygames.com/images/covers/l/21771-star-control-ii-dos-front-cover.jpg I always thought the entity to the left of the Terminator was meant to be a Spathi ship. Give different levels to the platforms and bam. More realistic looking Spathi vessel. That is part of your trademark already.
There was a man who claimed for decades to the Emperor of the United States out in San Fransisco. They even printed money for him. That doesn't mean he was, in fact, Emperor of the United States.
Ooooh. Get Alex Bennett (Bennett Gordon Schwarzmann. aka Commander Hayes) to do the voice! He's in his late 70s, so... Sooner rather than later?
...Cygnus is a constellation. From the Latinized Greek word for swan. Confused why it wouldn't be used.
I'm not going to try to argue the legal issues here, as Brad's asked me not to, but in the interest of providing useful information, I think those emails are posted on their blog .
So are many falsehoods and half-truths. Stardock has little reason to believe anything they post is legitimate.
It would have been easier if origins would have been a paralell world though.
It's in a parallel universe. That's the entire concept about the Origin.
I must be that rare breed of Star Control fan that played SC1 and SC2 when he was young (I was born in '84) and outright support Stardock's side in this. I see what SCO is, what it has the potential to be. I -want- that. Meanwhile, I've seen nothing I personally consider playable from Fred and Paul for the last twenty-five years. Right now, they seem like two (albeit talented) old men throwing a tantrum because they want their ball back.
I am almost certain that Fred & Paul's game will be fantastic should it ever get built. Maybe a bit of competition will even encourage them to outperform all expectations.
I have a feeling that, if their game is ever released that the hype we've built up after 25 years will mean we end up disappointed. Nostalgia is a helluva thing.
Will the Slylandro be appearing in different universes? Will they have escaped their Gas Giant planet in some?
I mean, it'd be amusing that if there was a player-made universe the Slylandro are the evil, conquering empire.
Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers would be fun.
Don't know how long I've had a Stardock account, but I am in your corner, Brad. FaP have stepped over the line and are seeking to destroy what seems to be a fantastic Star Control game. Can't wait to play it. Draco (Discord) Kaiser (UQM)
Andromeda is a definite must (and hopefully "low hanging fruit" so to speak due to its inactivity for a few years and lesser popularity compared to some franchises). I would also love an Orville-based adventure. Its new. Its fresh. And if Seth is involved, chances are it'll be fantastic. He strikes me as the sort who could make a good StarCon writer.
