Did a little math because I had nothing better to do(and wanted to know the answer myself) Mass of Earth's oceans: 1.4E21Kg 1.4E21 x 1000 = 1.4E24 grams Assume 17 degress Celsius for oceans Raise temperature to 100C 1.4E24 * (100C-17C) * 4.186J/g C = 1.4E24 *(83)*4.186 = 1.4E24 * 347.438 = 4.864132E26 J 4.864132E26 J to raise the temperature from 17C to 100C Now add the energy required for vaporization: 1.4E24 g * 2261 J/g = 3.1654E27 J<br /
6) The Nova bomb, which is nine fusion warheads encased in lithium triteride (from here on reffered to as LT shell), has huge destructive potential. So much, that is literally a planet-killer, and is nicknamed as such. loosely calculated, it has a 27 gigaton yield. this is because of a) nine fusion warheads, assumed at 30 megatons each; and b ) the LT shell reflects the blast in upon itself, thus increasing the strength a hundredfold and compressing the core to neutron
Covenant fighters would be so many explosions as they winked out of existence before ever getting into firing range. The Covenant capital ships wouldn't be in a much better position. They'd be going boom before getting into firing range too. Since they're so godawfully slow, they'd never get into firing range either.
On page 149 of The Fall of Reach it is said that incoming plasma torpedoes are 2 seconds away from impact at 300,000KM. The bad thing for Star Trek is that only the TV episodes and movies count for canon, rendering all novels, tech guides or anything else useless for this debate. On the other hand Halo's novels do count, which gives us the insane firepower of both the super MACs and the NOVA bomb. The UNSC is the perfect enemy for the Borg with their projectile weapons. As Borg drones have NEVER demonstrated the ability to handle kinetic energy based weapons, they will be cut down l
Frogboycomment 29No. Were you? That's hilarious. You really insult paying customers? If you can't take criticism of a product that you've made and charge people for, then you need to chill out and stay off the forums.
Did you honestly expect him to just take your insult? If you did, then you don't know that much about Frogboy. You only insult him or Stardock if you are ready to take what you dish out.<
Found this picture of bing in action while browsing digg. [removed by moderator -- image of Windows CD-keys] I have a feeling Microsoft will catch on to this very shortly.
The 'shields have failed' messages get annoying quickly. I think it would be good if you replaced the sound file with one that says something along the lines of 'capital ship has engaged the enemy' or 'capital under attack. The Advent's Mass Transcendence fits well with the Cylons. Here is one way you could modify it: Let them have it earlier but weaker at first, without the bonus XP from combat. Say at two labs you can get ships up to level 2 at a slow rate.
The Galactica class seems a bit too powerful. I was able to find the homeworld of a Cylon AI and bombard it while fighting off the AI's fleet. I managed to kill the homeworld with just the Galactica-class ship and didn't even need to pay attention to the battle other than to fire off flak once in a while. I understand the Colonials are more powerful than the Cylons and it was early game so I was fighting only one enemy capital ship at a time, but I don't think I should hav
Noticed the problem in the thread complaining about SINS not being on Steam. Didn't see any of the other replies until I left one.
SINS will be on Steam sometime after the Half-Life series is on Impulse. Seriously, since Steam and Impulse are direct competetors don't expect them to share exclusive games. Plus I am pretty sure patching for Steam would be a hassle at best and a major problem at worst. To my knowledge Steam uses normal patches that have been modified to be compatable with Steam to update(at least that is what I have heard). Impulse does not use patches for upda
Danman, do you plan on releasing 2.5 for 1.02 or wait until Stardock puts up 1.03? In this thread, Blair said the devloper exe for 1.03 was done also(reply 21).
The developer exe's for 1.03 and 1.17 have also been submitted. They will be appearing on the downloads page as per usual.
Releasing for 1.03 would probably require more converting, but you would have the developer exe to help. Hopefully Stardock will be able to spar
Looks like Jack has reached a new low(I didn't think it was possible ....). You will be identified as co-conspirators to
In an attempt to be on topic, I would pick a program where I have a holosuite that I have full control over. Since I circumvented the restriction in the OP, I then do what ever I want. Such as: - a space war that makes Legend of the Galatic Heroes look like a small skrimish. - drop Bolos(Mk XXXIII or higher) into various universes to see what happends. Say one of the Gundam universes or another mech based universe. Also, the D&D idea sound very good
I don't really see him winning the case where he plans to argue that file-sharing is fair use. However the third case is interesting:
Nesson is also working with Camara on a third case, this one against college student Brittany English. Camara's website, which lists the case as "pro bono," says that the lawyers "are asking the courts to declare that statutory damages like these—150,000:1—are unconstitutional and that the RIAA’s campaign to extract settle
That is good news. Any chance you can release what you have and then add one race at a time with the manifest system?
This should be interesting. I think this is the first time file-sharers have gone after anti-piracy groups in court. Regardless of who wins, the outcome will have a very big impact.
There are some unconfirmed reports floating about this morning claiming that The Sims 3 has been leaked. The long-awaited PC game's official launch date is June 2nd. Romanian site SoftSailor is among those reporting the supposed leak: For the moment we can’t tell for sure if the game is real as the pac
I think we should be more afraid of these communists. Even on the 0.000000000000000000000000000001% chance the numbers in the video are right, all that is required to stop them is to hit their transportation and supply infastructure. Without fuel vehicles are worthless, guns require ammunition, and people need to eat. An army that size would be crippled easily that way due to how fast it would go through supplies.</p
Nice artcile, has comments from 2D Boy and Stardock. A bit about GOO:
However, Stardock has developed a relaxed version of DRM, called Goo (no relation to World of Goo ), that it licenses to interested parties. The first company to make use of it was THQ on its Tales of Valor , the recently-released stand-alone expansion of Company of Heroes . Stardock didn't use it in its just-released Demigod but Wardell plans to include it in
What about making a 'base' version of the mod with all the non-race specfic things(ex planets/graphics) with the normal versions of the TEC, Advent and Vasari? That way you would know that the race data is correct so you can narrow the problem down. If the 'base' version works fine then you would know it is a problem with one or more of your races(just add them one at a time with mod stacking to find the one(s) with the problem). Hope you find the problem because I want to
I think the beta was for that but i assume it was thought of too lightly that NAT traversal problems could be fixed in the 1st week.... It turned out otherwise. NAT traversal was thought of much the same way you might think of a sound library or a physics library. You just plug it in, call the APIs and make sure there's enough servers. There's no other way to describe it other than breathtaking naivete.

Other than that, Star Wars rules because the ships would so own Star Trek's ships--even an Old Republic Dreadnaught could easily take out the Enterprise-D (i think that is what the Galaxy-class enterpirse is) even though it wouldn't really be able to manuver very well--though it is 600 meters long.
Yeah, ever since the AToC ICS came out there has been no point in a Star Wars vs Star Trek direct combat debate as a result of the power it puts SW ships at(200 gigaton
Chuck Norris already beat the campaign. Chuck Norris can solo fleets of long range firgates with a light firgate. Chuck's Norris can colonize enemy planets, all of them, simultaneously. Instead of dealing damage, Chuck Norris puts a negative sign in front of his enemies' health. The reason the missile barrage han't had its power reduced is because Chuck Norris likes it the way it is. All of Chuck Norris's ships have anti-missile and anti-fighter point d
I thought it was an old game I would be able to get on the cheap
The base version of the Witcher sure. However the EE came out September 16th 2008. Given the difference between editions plus a free upgrade for any one that originaly bought the Witcher, I can understand keeping the price the same. Since older versions of the Witcher get a free upgrade to EE, you should try to find a base version. Checking the UK version of Amazon gets <a href="h
