Deploying technologies such as anti virus protection, spam filters, web proxies, and firewalls, corporations continuously try to protect information and data assets. Spammers continuously make it difficult by always updating and broadening the complexity, footprints, and large amount of spam they broadcast, so maintaining pace with the recent security updates, exploits, and scams involves nonstop effort. Many spam blockers are unable to keep up with the many variants of email thre

More than 40 percent of all reports made to the FTC are related to Identity Theft. Businesses and Individuals spend more than 300 million hours every year to deal with Identity Theft. Going by the statistics, at least one person that has been a victim of Identity Theft is close to you. Identity Theft is not always a result of what you have or have not done. Lots of information regarding your identity is handled by companies and goverment organization

If ‘Microsoft ditches Windows 2000, 98 and 95’, who will tackle security issues on them? A lot of people still continue to use Windows 2000, 98 and 95, even after Microsoft decided to stop supporting them. Just check this link and you will see that there are still more than

95% of Information Security breaches are from known vulnerabilities and misconfigurations (CERT) It’s a shocking but true statement. But then if the vulnerabilities and misconfigurations are known, why are steps not taken to correct them? Well, the answer lies in the question itself. The vulnerabilities are known but which ones exist in you

So, we have this big Department of Homeland Security who governs the security of... well our Homeland. Being such, they have infamously become a symbol of security in the eyes of many corporations. But have they really earned that position or do we assume too much? Earlier this year a security firm used various open system tools while spending five months

I've been looking at the 7250 but it is vastly more expensive and the quality wasn't sufficiently better enough to justify the difference in price. I would have to agree, the advantage of the 7x series is to save cost per page if you get into a program and the higher duty cycle not really quaility.

The reason he sticks with Phaser line I am going to guess as Tektronix makes the best color printers in this price range. The have lower cost per page than most any color laser on the market (10c/page compared to 12c/page on most). The output is much better than most color lasers. The speed is amaz

Phaser 8400 is 600dpi with an enhanced photo mode that gives apparent 2400 dpi quality. The 7700 series is going to give you a little better quality (like the 6250 would) in some reguards as you don' t have the scratchy surface but now you have a shiney surface like most other lasers.

Actually Xerox 8400 is solid ink but the ink is no longer wax based. The wax component has been removed, so it no longer scratches off as easily, but it does scratch off if you really try. On another note, the Phaser 6250 is slightly better pr

Cisco source for the Cisco Pix is now available for $24,000 according to "Source Code Club". The version they are selling is 6.3.1 which is a slightly older product compared to their latest 6.3.4 software. Cisco representative Penny Bruce said "We are aware of the posting and are looking into it." Purchases of SCC's illegal products are done through email

It sounds like a good plan, but remember there is exploits that work through JPG's these days, trojans can be installed just by surfing the web although it is true 90% of all virus activity is done through email, trusted sites can harbor viruses and trojans if they are compromised. There is even tricks used to make the attachments look like word documents or text files. Known viruses can be repackaged and even hex edited to slip by even the best viru

"i wasnt so much referring to security so much as i was the wealth of incompatibilities and anomalies that make each new new version a work in progress." More things have compatibility problems with Windows 9x than they do with Windows XP. Windows XP is actually many times more stable than Windows 9x.

" resolutions for nearly all of win98's problems were finally available by mid 2004" I would say this is not really the most accurate statement. Most of the time older systems are more exploitable as new patches are not developed for them or at least not as aggressively. Windows XP has many more security related features to allow you to lock down the operating system. You may see a lot of security patches and for Windows XP and nothing real

Service pack 2 for Windows XP made great advances with the built-in firewall over previous versions. Many features have been added to make it very competitive with other software based firewalls on the market. As with other software based firewalls, there is a period of time during boot up phase where the firewall does not protect you, a dedicated firewall does not
