You are up to date, but no one else is seeing things that you are seeing. Seems like a potential software conflict or registry edits that could be the culprits

I'm not worried as it's really only cosmetic to me as I run locate32 to do searches. Thanks for your response kind sir.
Just a thought from a voice in the crowd.....

Maybe locate32 is the culprit? I have no idea what locate32 is, but could it be counteracting with the search box?

And... Trying to access the site for locate32, I get this from Malwarebytes browser control, so I'm not going there.

So far so good with the latest updates with Windowblinds and Start 11; however, I continue to see issues with Chrome... and yes, I've tried all the available workarounds with the change in shortcut and choosing the option in Windowblinds settings.  Still nothing is skinned.  Guess I'll go back to using Firefox.

locate32 is a portable app and doesn't play with associations so I'm sure that's not the issue plus I've been using it along with WB since win7 and had no issues. Can I send the wba to someone to test?

have you tried windowblinds under windows sandbox mode? You can also create a new user profile on your system and test windowblinds on that profile. Does it still do it on any of those 2 modes. If it does, then you have done something either with the registry or an app is conflicting with the search function. You are the only person to have this issue. So please try one of the 2 methods above or both possibly.

Wow! I found a solution...installed old new explorer and no more search box issues. Go figure:grin:

PapaBravo ....I removed your link to 'locate32' from your dropbox as it's corrupted.

I also had to jump through hoops to get back to this forum.

If I were a gambling man I'd bet your issue comes from that program itself...;)

I have zero issues with Razer Cortex and Windowblinds.

Just saying.  I too would be leery of locate32.

I researched locate32 in some length and it does not appear to be a virus. With that said it is also a very old program and very likely to have compatibility issues with windows 11 in general. It no longer gets updates ect. Therefore, it is probably a requirement to use this program with the older explorer or explorerpatcher like you have done. It is not a windowblinds 11 issue

I deleted it, thanks for every ones input.

WindowBlinds 11.00 (011 x64 - Windows 11 Edition) - 64 bit OS What is going on?

So my final solution for the search box button issue was to add explorer.exe to the per apps list and enabled the option disable background bitmaps for this app. The balls in your park now

Now on to bigger and better things.

1. the taskbar buttons don't show progress or the background I set.

2. the show desktop won't show the button I select in SKS in the system tray.

3. cmd.exe and powershell won't show the colour I select in settings, personalization, colour. I added them to the per apps list in WB settings and they have a section that's transparent on the right and bottom sides if you run a .cmd or powershell script. .ps1

coders get cracking

You added explorer.exe to the per app list. that's the problem. its required for proper skinning and you cant really fix your issue by doing the weird work around. Most elements in windowblinds convert to bitmap or TGA format for use. When you disable background bitmap, any element that uses that format will not display. Hence your weird issues above.

You never did reply about testing windowblinds on your system under windows sandbox mode or on a separate user profile. Please do so we can find out if its a issue with your system(a program causing conflict) or windowblinds bugged install.
