Ok, current status check: We have an election scheduled to run 7/13-7/20. DethAdder and KzintiPatriarch have been nominated and have accepted the nominations, and are thus canidates (unless either chooses to withdraw from the election, which hopefully will not happen). Neilo has been nominated, and has not as of now accepted or declined the nomination. If we are following the precedent set by the last election, any canidate who is nominated and accepts the nomination is ballot-eligible. So if Neilo accepts the nomination, he would be on the ballot as well. Votes start 7/13 and should be submitted to SilverBeacher and possibly Mumblefratz (who is presumably still willing to count ballots?).

If there are no more surprises and I am correct on the above, we should still be in position to move forward. I hope.

I hardly consider the matter of hours given from the original posts about the election to the posts about how it will run enough time for everyone in the MVl to read the thread and respond to it.



I saw little confusion. Two parties were nominated and none were enthused, a third party was offered up.

First of all I would like to say that I appreciate all that Mumble does for the MVL and I know that he has the MVL's interests at heart, but I feel that the election has been mishandled. Lord_Arkham and freeman should have been on the ballot if they volunteered. I understand the concerns over experience in the MVL but we should let the votes decide those issues not dismiss them out of hand. I can't find the rules on elections but if possible I would like to nominate both of them if they are still willing. I also second Neilo's nomination and sincerely hope that he chooses to stay with the MVL.

Sorry to confuse the problem even more but I felt these issues should be addressed.

Interesting point Lethrin. Even though i do agree with Mumble here that, and i mean no offense guys, Freeman and LA are a little too inexperienced to run for the commish position, they should be able to run regardless. Any member of the MVL if nominated should be able to run for the position, let the people decide.

Alright, Lord_arkham and freeman have also been nominated, so if precedent is our guide, if they accept the nominations they are on the ballot for the election starting 7/13 as well.

Btw, I am trying to help keep things organized by summarizing what others have posted in what is getting to be a longish discussion, but I don't want to over-reach, so if anyone has any objection to such efforts, please let me know and I'll stop.

Guys. I really think we need to take a step back and regroup here. Suspend the election for a bit if need be and get sorted out on who wants to run and the members will decide who is qualified with their votes. This is to be a democracy and right now it is looking like anything but.

I agree with DethAdder, the election should be postponed. I think things are moving too fast for the majority of the league to know what is going on.

Well, I'm not searching at the moment but were you then nominated? and if so did you accept? And are you saying you don't want to run?

I am trying to sort this out. We need a clear list of those who want to run and find out who wants to nominate others an whether they accept that nomination. Once we get a clear list of willing candidates we can move forward.

I've also searched now and the first mentione of LA volunteering was made by Mumble at the ToE site, I believe it was just a mistake and he meant Freeman from there it just got repeated over here.

Ok Folks. What we need is your nominations and/or desire to run yourself. Take it from the top, so to speak.

One thing we need to ensure is that everyone is treated fair and just. We built this league on certian principles and I believe one of those was that we are all equals in the MVL. If your new, old or somewhere in between your opinions and opportunities within the league should not be quelled. I'd just as soon see half the league as candidates, as it would do more to show the true nature of equality within the league. I trust my fellow MVL members to vote in a good commissioner.

Now to start things off I will Nominate JustinSane for the position of commissioner if he will accept.

I can run and manage a Round 10; but I would like a CLEAR and PRECISE list of nominations for elections to be held afterwards.

This week actually is the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the Metaverse League, and it doesn't need to be marred by all this upheaval.

As such, how about we play a round; get a clear reading on who wants want; and go from there?

I have the time to cover my basic duties- just don't know if i'll be able to get a game in or not.

What does everyone think? Can you suffer through one more month of having me as Commish as we decide on a clear and set way to go about elections?

And besides, I would really really like some tempers to cool.

I never doubted that you do, which only made the other comments more puzzling, it's not in your character to be offensive.

I second Justin's nomination but i also understand that he may be away and unable to accept it, though he would like to. i don't mean to speak on Justin's behalf but i know he was away as of today and he may not get a look a this thread for some time.

Sorry, I must have mis-typed Neilo (my bad). I am leaving Thursday 7/17 and will return Sunday 7/27 in the late evening. I'll be here the next few days. So I'm glad to accept the nomination, but I will be gone during that time period (there is a small chance I will have internet access, but I probably will not). If SilverBeacher is serving as commissioner for the next round, then the vacation may not be a problem. Thank you Neilo and DethAdder for your nomination!

Mumble, I think you were a bit heavy-handed and acting outside any authority, but not by design. I know your intent was good, but to many it seems to have not sat well. Your high concern for the league is always evident. I think your own words say it best today:


I think anyone wishing to run for commish and gets nominated is allowed to do so. Whether they are new to the league, or a veteran. If time spent in the league (or lack thereof) is an issue to people, the vote will surely resolve that. I also think its a good idea to postpone the vote as Silver said, and everyone else seemed to agree with.

Good that the consensus seems to be that Silver runs round 10, everybody steps back a bit and relaxes and then we tackle the problem again. That's what I would have proposed anyway.

I am a little disapointed in the motives being ascribed to me.

But mostly I'm just tired. I'm tired of doing so much and being appreciated so little.

Come on man,. You don't have to resign and you don't have to do all the work. Just sit back, relax and enjoying being one of the best players around . The league will get along. Not always as smoothly and organized as we want all the time, but it still can go back to just being fun without having to worry about all this. That's why I gave up the captaincy awhile back, I just wanted to play the game for a while and not have to worry about what was going in the league around me. You are still a valued member of your team and the league without having to deal with league issues. I do hope you'll reconsider.

If anyone deserves a break it's you Mumblefratz. We'd love to have you stay as a player even if you no longer serve as team captain or rules keeper, but either way, thank you for all your contributions to the MVL and all the work you've put into it. I don't think anyone believes you acted with anything but the MVL's interests as your motive. If you do not change your mind, we'll be waiting for your return and please enjoy the (relative) rest.
