you dont nescessarily need access to the core to blow up a planet, drill charges, blasting with shitloads of ammo, moving the planet out of orbit, all that works.

yeah but u'll need a shitload of deep.. deeper... even deeper... 2 meter... 3 meter.... must i go on? holes

then somehow fil al the holes with a nuke and blow them "preferably from core to surface with 0.5 to 1 second interfalls"

This thread needs a link to "The End of the World"

yeah maybe we should stop looking how "we" can destroy a planet......Just because we don't have the technology to destroy a planet doesn't mean no one else in the universe does. What we need to do is to point our most powerful telescope transmitter thingy's at likely solar systems and taunt 'The girly-beings in your miserable solar system could never destroy a planet as cool as this one...

pff, please spare me the drama... just have a big enough explosion at the surface.

i always believed that a space game like sins of a solar empire should have some kind of planetkiller like the deadstar in star wars or the stellar converter in master of orion 2, that would make the game verry real. What i also like are the orbital weapon platforms great work guys.  ;)  ;)

it doesnt have to be a bad thing to blow up a planet for balance.

i mean when u blow up a planet it could spread like 2 more crystal astroids in the gravity well.

also if u blow up an astroid u could make it turn into a nebula with a small rock in the center and some astroids inside.

u would need to do it with a special weapon with a huge cooldown otherwise it would still destroy the map

i know im to late with this idea, but i just wanted to drop it.

Dropping asteroids from orbit would be pretty destructive... can't we do that? =P

that is actualy a very good idea....

make a ship which is able to haul asteroids from asteroid rings.
once collected it can jump to an enemy planet and launch it

pretty destructive for the infrastructure and leaves a big hole :P

however.... this should be some sort of ultimate ship, since it takes out 40% of a planet in 1 hit.... (asteroids look pretty large 2 me in the game.... like the size of a big.. big moon.

yeah i rly love the orbital weaopon platforms, even so i think they oversized em..... make alot of satelite turrets which die pretty fast, instead of 1/3 big rocket/mass driver turrets

some weapons should be so large that the ship is built around the weapon.

such as the war eagle in star trek and star fleet battles. the eagle is a sub light ship built around a plasma launcher. in it's sub light form it has just enough energy to use the launcher. later when converted to warp it is able to use phasers.

another such ship is the mauler in star fleet battles.

these two weapons are so devastating that they not only hurt the target but nearby ships too. well at least the mauler does.
