1.02 crashed to desktop when I push 'leave' button on the diplomatic screen.
This happened three times and all of them were negotiations from AI, not from me.

have newest vers-1.02. have had 2 trade items that i built replicated by 2 other races.
thx for a great, very well supported game! :CONGRAT:

No idea if these are already listed in the mass of bugs above. But in version 1.02:

- The AI will build Terror Stars even if the UP has voted a permanent ban on them. This is a huge waste of money for the AI.

- Shipyards (all types) don't seem to work. They don't appear to increase the hp of all ships, and certainly a ship built at a planet with a shipyard always has the same hp as a ship built at a planet without a shipyard.

- Multiple AI players are *still* building unique items such as trade goods.

- Occasionally I'll get a message that a non-zero trade route has been destroyed (ie, one of mine). However, checking on the trade screen always shows that the trade route is still intact.

here is an easaly repetd bug that drove me crazy the first time i played. pick generic as your govener and you will bild all those trade goods and wonders you thought you coudn't simply because someone elts had. infact i think you may be able to bild the same one multiple times. sorry abougth the spelling but i suck at that :p

Iskabis, regarding trade routes: I had this come up a lot because I was trading with all the races (major and minor) and they were always at war with each other in some combination. I'd receive messages about trade routes, but from watching the trade screen, they belonged to the AI players.

just got my 1st crash to desktop. it was instant. i had just updated a starbase & hit the find key. no error messages or anything. could this be a v 1.02 bug? put about 25 hrs into this game with no stability issues whatsoever. hope it is fixable(& i have a fairly recent autosave) (:(

Transport and Combat Transport Graphics Disappear:

1.02 (SDC). Built my first (combat) transport with auto-launch enabled. The ship graphic is "invisible" (the blue hilight circle is present). Also, the graphics in the planet view for both transport types are gone.

Very sorry if these have already been reported, but I don't have time to read the entire thread (sorry to Cari, I know you hate this (:( )

1. When I take a planet culturally, it often feels as if any morale enhancing building no longer affect the planet's morale. I realize that the distace from the rest of my empire is a factor, but often I build just one building, it takes the morale of a newly acquired planet from 0 or 1 to 100. I image that this is a bug, and it costs me a lot of money, and I think may also be dragging down my overall morale and final game scores as well. Is it supposed to work this way, or is this a bug?

2. Sometimes when I save my game and re-load, one of my resource starbases loses its resource (and all of the other improvements made to it). This has happened to me several times.

3. Also, and this really isn't a bug with GalCiv, but I have an ATI Video Card with TV-In capabilites, and when I let it run in the background random ship images and animations no longer appear. I know this isn;t really within the operating parameters of the game, but thouth I'd mention it anyway.

I have actually read all the posts in this thread (I think) ;-) but haven't seen these gliches yet.

In the financial screens I've had a few long running tributes. 1.02.036 these tributes are actually added to my expenses so that is good. However in my stat screen, economy tab it shows that I have 4billion in tribute!
At a later stage when some of the tributes came to an end it startes showing a negative tribute, which WAS however calculated as a positive expense. On the stat screen this did show as a positive tribute still.
On this page are some screenshot showing the strange glitches. If you devs have seen them please let me know so I can remove them again ;)

It would be quite convenient if we could see a list of active tributes as mentioned before, especially to see what kind of things are going on here.

a few other minor thingies:
-When a colony ship on autopilot reaches a starsystem it doesn't state anything, so It keeps me wondering why I am shown that certain system until I happen to hold my mouse over an empty planet. It would be convenient if it would show a pop-up or a message clearly requesting me to select a planet for colonization.
-My cultural victory counter has been on 12 months for nearly a year game-time now and it's not going down.
-When buying any build-queue item and then selecting the planet details, the governor will change the item in the build queue list. The bought item is then effectively built, but does not show up on the planet details screen and can therefore not be destroyed. Also any money used to build that item is automatically put into building the next item too meaning you effecively get this bought item for free in a ghost form. (I look at the details screen a lot for the propaganda slider
-even with all automatic updates off, this discussion board has a few second lag every minute or so which is VERY annoying when typing.
-Two of my opponents have gotten a cache of 100 precursor corvettes. Both of them decided they would use them all one by one to try to destroy one of my dreadnaughts. Both my dreadnaughts survived (barely). Wouldn't it be more effectively if they tried to attack my ship in one big fleet? (And wouldn't it take a LOT less time ;))
-If I move a transport into a system to pick up some troops the game switches to the next ship immediately, so I have to scroll back to the planet I wanted to get troops from. I would like the game to NOT switch to the next ship if I move a troop transport this way.

Pleaese let me know hwen I can remove those screenshots.

1.2.036:

If you rush buy a military or social project, then accidentally click on another military or social project, the money just vaporizes. You can no longer build that social project, but it never shows up in the planet detail screen, either.

Some more glitches I've found. I'll keep it short as I may repeat a thing or two...

- I've seen a "normal" AI build up a station to max, and stacking 13 (!) more constructors on the station, just sitting there and waiting forever (Possibly some turned into new modules, but still a terrible waste).

- Diplomacy screen: "Speak to": "Diplomatic status" panel: If a race has an alliance, there is always another line saying that race is allied to itself.

- Diplomacy screen: Stats: Some bug in the computing of ranks. E.g. Drengin have -636 bc Treasury and are rated 1st in "Treasury". Second are the Torians with +4578 bc. :notsure:
Moreover, Drengins are rated "overall" 2nd, though they only have rankings of 4th, 5th, 6th besides the bugged Treasury ranking. (By the way, Torians were "overall" 2nd at the same time)

- After the UP decides only imperial government to be used, there are still elections, and if you lose, you're still given the penalties!

- I can't emphasize this enough: Parsec is written Parsec, not Parcec. (Abbreviation for parallax second) You would make me a happier man if you changed every Parcec in the game to Parsec. :CONGRAT:

Looking forward to the perfect version 3.08.034! ;)

Okay, I don't know if this is a bug or not, but I've now played my third game in a row in which a civilization receives the "They're going to become omnipotent and conquer us all if we don't wipe them out" happens in the early game.

This seems like something that would be a better event in the mid-to-late game, when an empire isn't still trying to grow (and thus weak) but when that empire is weak because of war or what-have-you.

GalCiv Team,

Not sure if this is a Bug but here goes.

I have trouble moving the screen "up" when I pull the mouse pointer to the bottom of the screen. It seems many times like it will not simply move until I pull up on the pointer and then pull back down again.

It is like it does not realize that the mouse is at the edge of the screen and so the screen will not move.

All other directions (Left, Right, and Top) seem to work with no trouble at all. It is only when I move the pointer to the bottom at the Menu area that it seems to stick.

Thanks

Toothy

Maybe this has been covered before:

On the "sector ownership" tab of the mini-map, nothing happens except some (nearly impossible to see) shading for some races. I'm using a Radeon 9700 with the latest drivers; is there something I have wrong with my settings, or do other people have this problem as well?

Thanks,

NOt sure if this has been posted yet but.... ;)

How good at tech do you have to be, I mean really. Every time I load up a game, the best it says is "we're doing OK technologically." Or it'll say i've fallen behind. behind who???? No one had any techs that I didnt. Playing technologists, with +50 research bonus, I mean really, i'm getting tech like gangbusters, MUCH more than the AI has, and i'm "Doing ok" ???????? More like "We're kicking ass left and right." A reevaluation of how it determines what is "ok" would be nice, as it is now its useless.

Just had the game crash to desktop. This is the first time in about 15..20 hours of play; still ...

Any use mailing you the file called debug.err or is that not relevant to the current game?
I noted a few odd things when I glanced through that file, for instance initialisation errors
for G:\ drive where the game has no business (it's resident in H:\), failure to initialize
DirectSound (sound plays fine, though), memory allocation errors being reported.

(if you want the file, email) - I will be away for a day and a half and might not see a reply here.

I do not know if this is a bug or the correct game flow, but I found it rather strange so I would like to know:

From time to time the universe enter a time of economic recession or economic advance, to be back to normal economic times a couple of turns after. Ok, but in my last game I saved and quited the game some turns after the economic recession started. When I resumed it I never got out of the recession, I had to set economic expenses to 0% sometimes just to lose as little money as possible. Many, many turns after that things started to go back to normal but I never saw the "economic recession fisihed" message.

This game rocks!! I am one of the many dissapointed MOO3 players and I was beginning to think I will have to wait until MOO4 (at least) arrived to play a decent 4X game. Thanks, thanks, thanks!! :CONGRAT:

Hi. I have retail version patched to 1.01. Don't have time to read all of the posts, but none of these seem to have showed up in the first ten pages so here goes.

Bugs:

The cash recieved for trading is wonky. I would get a bunch of techs and trade goods, then go to friendly races and arranging deals for 100 to 200 credits per month for 27xxxxxxxxx months. Enough of these and I was able to place my spending at 100%, my taxes at 0%, and still take in 900 bcs a turn. Note that this is a positive feedback loop since I can then get new techs faster and trade them for more insanely long deals.

From above, where do those AIs get their money anyway?

In my senate, seats are often shaded with more than one colour.

Whenever I see a slider, the position of the slider is held over from the last time I saw it while the list or text is at the top.

On the vast, stone-age life-form random event, it says something like "-5% bonus" instead of penalty. Also, I noticed that the 'good' penalty was lower then the 'neutral' penalty.

Last night I built a colony ship and without launching it, clicked on another planet in the system. It colonized the new planet, which is what I wanted, but somehow put 7 billion people on it, which was exactly the same number of people as the original planet. The morale on the new planet was 1!

My original Survey ship, well into the game, started heading for the top center of the map when it ran out of anomolies. It met up with another AI's Survey ship already stuck up there and tried to declare war. It did let me deny the war and manually redirect the ship to orbit a planet. This is version 2.036a.... or something like that. The most recent version at this time.

I also had the game end unexpectedly with no error a number of times but reloading seemed to get me past this.

First off, I apologize if this is a dup; reading through 400+ bugs is quite the job.

In any game I start, if I promise tribute to an AI player for any period of time over one month, the first month's tribute gets charged to me (properly), but after that the second through x months' tribute gets added to my economy (this is backwards).

Therefore, I can 'donate' money to get tech, ships, whatever from the AI, and actually receive money in the long run. Free money, woohoo!

Great game, thanks for making it even better.

I stopped reading this thread after 200+, so I'm sorry if this is a repeat post. Don't recall seeing anything like this when I did. Event happened to me last night...

As part of a trade exchange, gave the Yor some of my ships that were defending one of my starbases. After that, I noticed those Yor ships would not leave the hex. In addition...

1. My Constructors could no longer enter the starbase to upgrade it.
2. My other fighting ships could not enter the hex unless I was willing to declare war on the Yor.
3. My remaining ships from the original defensive stack could leave the starbase, but then faced issue 2.

Probably the same bug as the governer production list, but...

If I have 5 techs available for trade, and scroll down (so I see techs 2-5), then add one to the table, I only see three techs (3-5), but no scroll option to see tech #1. IOW, if there is no way for me to trade techs 1 & 5 as part of the same trade.
