I am about to start game 3. I will make sure that it is a military victory as I have a "political" and cultural victory already on the books.

Side note: Please post your custom ship class names.
Mine are a s follows:
Medium hulls (As far as I've been able to research as of yet):
Using LaserV tech with no defence - Laser Tagger
Using PlasmaII tech with no defence - Plasmatica

Finally checking in. The forums tend to be so slow that I don't have the patience to wait for threads to load sometimes.

Morning Diplomats. Good to see ya Moser.

Hello.
I am still trying to work out how to play the game.
I will eventually be a casual, part time player ,with low scores at a low level.
I see that some people have already worked out how to achieve maximum scores every time.
If I were to join the metaverse, would low scores drag down your overall efforts?

I came to this thread because there seemed to be more activity here than most places.

Not at all - the Empire totals are the sum of all it's members individual scores, so any score is a bonus!

Being part of the community of an empire is all about enhancing the gameplay experience. You play the game how you want to play it. We'll all help with any questions you have about the game, and post strategies etc (usually over at the Galactic Core) - but no-one is going to ask you to play in a different way just to get high scores.

Personally, I like to explore the limits of the metaverse and drag every last point out of each game It's a hang over from the GC1 days, where it was always said that you had to play at "maso" to get the maximum score (which was 60K back then) - so I just had to prove that theory wrong! Still struggling to find if there is an upper limit to the metaverse scores this time though...

So 6th game in. Should make top 25 again. I noticed we slipped a bit in the rankings but no fear there. Our leader almost has all of the orange juice out of pc.

Vulcan2. To us it really isn't about making some one play to 'our ' rule set. The important thing is having fun playing the game. Several of us a hold-overs from various empires of GC I. We all have different play style and strat. that we use to enhance gameplay. Some of us even worked on the beta for this game. You will find that this will be one of the most active threads anywhere in these forums because we like to talk about the games we play. You are certianly most welcome here.

We have another site too. Lots of stuff there. http://www.thegalacticcore.com There is already an active section dedicated to GalCiv I & II, and there will be an additional Empire thread soon.

I just finished game 6 with a conquest victory. Thankfully the Terrans surrendered to bring the game to an end. I just can't see score milking when I can be starting another game.

Morning Diplomats...

You're such a softy Moser...

Vulcan2... We'd be happy to have you on board... You can submit to the 'verse or not, but as Magnum said... every score does count, win, lose or draw. As a group... we're diverse in our style of play, including the 'verse. But the one thing we all agree on is it's all about have fun with the game. And however you achieve you fun is 'all good'.

I think they might have fixed something with the meta submissions in the latest patch... first game that's displayed the right difficulty level for me, and look at the score!!!!

Wow, Magnum!
Over 567k points! What settings did you use for this one?
I think I'll try a game with evil alignment next, seems like you get more points with it.

Was Occasional stars, common planets, common habitable planets, loose clusters, abundant anomalies, normal tech rate, max 9 opponents, culture / tech victories disabled, custom race.

Got a big boost around 3 years from the end, with the all planets within 2 sectors event - got 50 new PQ11 planets out of that.

I figured that total population plays a big role for the score in the end. Do you have any other hints regarding the scoring - or are they "business secrets"?

I wrote an article about (more or less cheesy) tactics for Suicidal difficulty, your comments or additions would be much appreciated: Link

Pop seems to be the biggest thing, probably tied in with approval rating per unit of pop averaged out over the game. So keep your approval high, know the max pop each planet can sustain and build enough farms to get it there!

Hmmm... got PC fixed and GC2 re-installed... off work with flu bug...

I can see how that works!
know the max pop each planet can sustain

The formula was (PQ+1)^3 * 20 millions, right? Are there any other modifiers?
That's right - as long as your pop is below that number, it will grow (up to the absolute maximum cap of 100 billion regardless of PQ) - which means that on a PQ9, the max pop is 20 billion, but if its at 19.999 billion and growing at 250 million a week, you will actually get 20.249 billion on the planet.

Not sure how it's handling the displayed PQ being reset at reload - that kind of confuses the issue. I think it remembers the PQ increase from soil enhancement etc in the max pop calculations unless you build the orbital terraformer (or I suppose choose neutral alignment), which seems to throw everything out.
