Sorry about the hiccup folks. We had a small component versioning conflict that was throwing things out of whack there. It should be fixed up and ready to use again.

Hi I got the above errors and now this is supposidly fixed it's not accepting my serial number. Says it is either invalid or needs activating. Any ideas?

I am trying to create a character but the program says "you have not activate you your serial number". How do you activate your serial number? I have an account already. It is called "Celestial Empire". Thanks, Paul

My problem:
Cannot connect to the Metaverse in the game. When entering my account reference in-game (Telparion and the associated password) I get the "the Metaverse server did not accept the user name and password you supplied" message.

Possible explanation:
Might be ZoneAlarm that prevents the connection. However, I have put all stardock and Galciv2 programs to super-trusted, internet access enabled modes. In the Galciv2 Options, I have also disabled the "Skip Internet Avalaible test" because I read in some other post that it needs to be disabled in order for the Metaverse login to work. And of course i double checked already my password, it is the same I am using in order to connect here to the forum.

Activation and registration with the Stardock Central utility worked, and Serial was updated already.
Ports 21 (FTP) and 80 (HTTP) are also enabled for all apps. Just to be sure, I also created a character named "Telparion" from the web interface of galciv2.com.

Main questions:
- What port is being used, if I should enable any?
- How may I connect? I also tried using the email address connected to my stardock account as logging information, but cannot enter the @ character.

EDIT : Also tried without ZoneAlarm firewall and it still doesn't work.

Torbe - I tested creating a player with your account and the serial number that we have registered and everything worked properly.  Maybe it was a type issue?

Jamest65, Tyjenks, Celestial LIght & IIWrath, please visit our registration page ( https://www.galciv2.com/registration.aspx ) and register your serial number first.  Then go back to the character creation page.  Most likely that will get everything straightened out for you.

Telparion - I tested logging into the Metaverse (within the game) using your account details and it worked properly.  So your account appears to be in proper order.  So as you are suspection it probably is a connection related issue.

All the communication done between the game and the servers is done through port 80.  I really don't have much else to suggest at this point other than dropping an email to [email protected] and [email protected] to ask for more assistance.  If you send them and email please also send them your debug.err file that is in your GalCiv2 installation folder. 

Hello. First time posting aaand, it's for a problem. LOVE THE GAME THOUGH! Anyways, so I logged into the Metaverse for the first time and tried to create a character by the name of Krye. This is the order of events that followed... 1) Created a new character named Krye (punched in my cdkey, uploaded a pic). It appeared to work. 2) I went to the Ars Galactica Empire and tried to join. When I pushed the button I got a totally random name (Chairman Kaga I believe) instead of Krye. 3) Exited out and went to Manage Characters. Sure enough, the random name was there. 4) Perplexed, I created a second character called Krye5. 5) I managed to get him to join the Ars Galactica Empire fine. I renamed Chairmen Kaga to Krye and had him join the Empire. I removed Krye5 from the Empire. 6) Just to make sure it was ok, I created a third character called Raith and he stayed ok as well. 7) Relieved, I started up the game only to find my characters gone and instead another random character by the name of EvilLust was there. 8) I exited the game and checked the Ars Galactica Empire. My Krye character was still registered. 8) Even more perplexed, I created yet another character called Raith 2 and added him to the Empire without any problems. So here I stand, I've now created Krye, Krye5, Raith, Raith 2. Krye is still registered to the Ars Galactica Empire under the account of Chairmen Kaga. I can't see any of my characters on my account other than Raith 2 as I created him under the EvilLust account I appear to have gotten crossed with. I would like to know if I could just have my Krye, Krye5 and Raith characters back that are currently under Chairmen Kaga's account. Thanx! (and thanx sommore for the great support!)

Solution found.
What was causing it might interest you.
Two parameters must be put together: player must have an Azerty keyboard (like the ones we have in France) and player must have a password with numbers in it.

In the logging screen when pressing Metaverse button, some characters are not accepted, while others are assimilated ; for instance, pressing "1" or "MAJ + 1" still displays "1" as a result. In Azerty keyboards, by default, you must press MAJ+1 to display character "1" ; in Qwerty keyboards this is the opposite. So even if I was comforted that MAJ+1 or 1 did display the number "1" in the form field, I continued pressing the usual keys.

In GalCiv2 this didn't cause many problems, except this one: in the nickname part of the logging form I can press 1 or MAJ+1 and this displays 1. So I supposed that in the password part (remember we cannot read what is typed in password field), this was the same. But it wasn't. In the password field, pressing MAJ+1 with an Azerty keyboard translates the character in another way than in the nickname field, and doesn't translate it to the number "1". That is the reason why my password, which has numbers in it, was never typed the right way.

Though the problem does sound silly, I had no way to guess it since in the "logging" field of the form characters and numbers are displayed the right way, whether you use the Qwerty-american way of entering numbers or the Azerty-french one.

Maybe would it help some other french or european player !

Turns out I had registered online and my character I added during the error messages had miraculously appeared. So maybe some of the rest of you can do nothing and it will fix itself as well.

FYI, the Metaverse Medals have been temporarily removed from the forums until we fix a performance related issue.  Hopefully we will have this fixed up in the next day or two.

I completed a game on suicidal, submitted it to the metaverse, and the game's difficulty got listed as "normal". Could this have something to do with the fact that I started the game before the last update, then updated to v1.0X.1, and then finished the game? Here's me Link the Altarian game is the one I'm talking about.

I've been getting this message too. This game was started before I got the 1.X update and I just got the update today. Could that be part of the problem?

Hmm I can't get my second metaverse game to post. it says

"(11) Your game submission was rejected because the application serial number does not match the serial number on the Metaverse server. Would you like to try posting your results again?"

Thats when I post with my laptop. If I post with my game machine, the (11) is a (12)

Any ideas?

Has anyone else had the problem I had? I'm pretty bummed about not being able to post on the metaverse. I've made sure to turn off all of my virus software and even restart the computer before submitting but it still doesn't work.

I got this message when I tried to upload my game as well. The debug.err file has the line:

"Debug Message: PostGameToServer: Post failed. RPC error code: InvalidVersion"

Since this game took me a couple of days to get through, I'd really like to be able tp upload it.
