If you upgrade near a shipyard the refit goes really fast. The only thing I don't like about that is that it doesn't take into account the resources already spent.
Thank you
Ship refit is a different process. It is best done very close to a friendly core world.
Thank you for the information. I only tried it once and the time and cost were crazy, I'll check it out again.
how about a repair module for star bases and/or shipyards?
I really like that idea. Also cheaper/faster upgrade/refit costs for docked ships after you research the ship upgrade tech?
As long as you replace it with another type of satellite (use button on bottom) instead of simply deleting it, the Orbital slot will remain for future use. You can change them out as often as you like, so if you get a really good one thru an event while searching for artifacts you're good to go.
Thanks for the info
1. How is a player's score calculated (what contributes to a high score)?
Hi, Now that GC4SN is about to go live, I was wondering the same thing? Are there multipliers for; difficulty, total tiles, number of opponents, population, sectors, etc? How are metaverse ladder scores and game scores related also?
3) Glad that you at last made it possbile to remove orbital slots. But when I remove it, then the building (including the slot) is gone forerver (would be nice if the slot would still be there, to build something else there)
Hi, On the most recent 1.95 yesterday, after liberating a computer owned planet, I was able to successfully remove a satellite and replace it with an atmosphere one. Perhaps the difference bei

Hi, Separate item but colony transport related. I played a game last night where I ended up sending surplus population to a 'housing world'. I realized that the planet was filling up with colony transport ships. When I tried to launch a ship it always asks for whom to load it with. * I would like the ability to launch an empty transport/colony ship. They could then be used to ferry people between places. * Worst case, is there a way to destr
I just removed GalCiv 4 from my computer and reinstalled GC3. All the campy dialog makes it impossible to play a 'serious game' now.
I spent some time with older versions of GC. They were a lot less campy overall. The 'we look forward to studying you" bit was over used, but it was much better than what I have been seeing in GC4SN. I also was reminded of the alignment system at the Star Dock Metav

tiny map 1 sector no minor civs all the planet settings to minimum resources to rare I played three games in a row under two different versions where this happened I also played a larger map (the medium sized galaxy, 1 sector, no minor civs) with 7 AI races, and in 50 turns I found a total of 9 AI races and quit. I don't have a save game. I just removed GalCiv 4 from my computer and reinstalled G

I find that logistics is a very important tool now, if not the most important. You build massive fleets of fighters and frigates to swamp the AI fleets. Unlike the old days where bigger was better. But I have mostly been playing games that take 100-150 turns also. Once the patch upgrades slow I'll try a bigger map for a longer game. But I would be interested in seeing a matrix break down off everything in one place for the weapons and defense as well as the hulls. And I agree

What is up with the dialog (1.9)? It's been bugging me for a bit now, but after the 1.9 update I felt it was time to mention it. Mostly I don't mind how the AI responds to me. But I don't want 'words put in my mouth' when 'speaking' with the computer opponents. I just had a computer player ask for peace. My only no option involved telling them my people wanted revenge? I should be able to just decline the request, and in a multiplayer game write a short message b

Last thing, if you just need more usb ports, and throughput/speed is not an issue, you might be able to use a USB Hub. You should be able to get a 4-8 port hub fairly cheap from Amazon, rather than driving 100 miles.

There used to be a program for windows called something like 'CD virtual drive', not sure if it is around anymore. The concept was you could copy a cd to a virtual drive that would act like a cd reader. Once you copy the cd onto the virtual drive/ hard drive, you would not need the physical cd reader plugged in any more. Anyway I'll drop off now. Sounds like you are getting help.

Do you get a post? Does it display some info on the screen when you turn it on? If you get post, watch the screen and it might say something like 'hit F4/F8 to enter bios' or some other key /combo. Or is it making noise / powering up but not putting anything on the screen? If so just to make sure, is the monitor working and powered on prior to you trying to boot the computer?

Also, have you noticed if you set sectors to maximum and the galaxy size to tiny, it says you only need 4GB ram? Then you go to the next screen to choose opponents and it starts with something like 21 selected and a max of over 60? My guess is this is not a desirable outcome.

I'm guessing it no longer sees a hard drive? CMOS battery dead on an old motherboard? If that is the problem you need to figure out how to interrupt the boot sequence (what key combo to enter as it starts to boot). Once in CMOS you need to reset the hard drive settings if they are lost, but if they 'see' the hard drive already don't touch them :). Anyway I'd search the net for the info on setting up a hard drive in cmos/bios on your brand of motherboard/computer. If it
I went to create a star base. I centered between 3 resources, but none were within the radius of the constructor. In the past, I could create a generic star base, then next turn add support extension ring and mining barracks. But in this version I can't. Please add a generic option in the drop down window.
I would also like to see this back. Or at least the ability to build a mining base without a resource in the initia
